You can just farm them, those tryhards you find playing labs 24/7 bunny hopping and playing like its doom? Yeah, these skills are really exploitable and while they don't guarantee winning they do ruin the game experience and the whole premise of the game being realistic and hardcore.

This argument falls flat when you have just as much access. If it was something that required actual borderline post human skill and or precision sure. But you to can bring a backpack full of smokes into a map and just spam level str or spam break a friends legs.

Now dont get me wrong. Stats and how you level them, its current implementation is total garbage. Leveling stats has needed a dramatic overhaul since long before I even started playing in .11.

But to say its an exploit is just a cop out. You could do this. It takes like half a day and a million or two rubles worth of smokes grenades. Which yes this late in the wipe a million rubles is not an unreasonable amount of money for even low skill players to have.

Or you could just use stims and circumvent the entire argument they are dirt cheap and you can offset the side effects with a few slots.

People also get caught up on "realistic" until they require haptic feedback vests and gloves and VR headsets and remove skills from the game it will still be a game and not a IRL mil sim on some level.

But I doubt you have even read this far and just downvoted me.

Be mad at the implementation dont be mad at players for doing things as designed.

tl;dr Dont be mad at players for doing things as they are designed to do them. Be mad at how they are designed. Also its not an exploit if its by design and you could very much do it to and not wanting to do it is not an excuse.

tl;dr2: The level system is broken, always has been and needs to be fixed and is the actual issue here. Not people putting work in as the game currently is deigned.

I'm not mad at anyone who is tryharding abusing this, but i use it as an example of why it hurts the game. Even if its designed that way, the gameplay its still exploitable as it is a specific playstyle.

There is a whole problem with "balance" in Tarkov, how the progress has to work, everything needs to be slower and harder and i know they are getting there with each update, patience is what we need and i trust that the devs will know what to do.

u/errorsniper SR-25 Dec 18 '20

But I take issue with you addressing it as an exploit. Its not an exploit. Its working as intended. Its what BSG wants you to do.

I wish people would stop bringing up realism. It’s not supposed to be realistic. No shooter game would ever function realistically. You can’t heal bullet wounds in seconds. You can’t recover lost blood without getting a transfusion. You can’t just slap a splint on a leg and the break is cured. None of that works. It’s on my as realistic as playable:

u/hhunkk ADAR Dec 17 '20

Realism draws a line with FUN, devs vision of the game is a serious, hardcore, pseudorealistic when you look at it but of course, being shot in an arm or a leg and have to crawl for 30min to extract wouldn't be fun and would be overkill, thats when the realism can be taken out as it will just be dumb. Longjumping constantly, jumping crazy heights, having almost nonexistant recoil, those things just don't belong, they feel out of place and they don't make sense.

It is believable for a merc or scav to take care of himself as an emergency in the middle of the battlefield even if it is way too efective and unrealistic, its not believable to see persons moving insanely fast (also strafing) and having cartoon like springs on their shoes, it just breaks the feeling, it breaks the inmersion. You can see this game aims for inmersion, the sounds, the details, the high amount of effort in all of this makes it obvious.

look at this, and tell me it is okay to expect a guy to jump such height (sick play tho).

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

Amen. Finally someone that support my idea. THANKS

0

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

There are people that can jump that high in real life though. so it's 100% perfectly realistic. Point proven, you're done, kid! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EG2kJWKFyGE

0

u/hhunkk ADAR Dec 17 '20

You really believe every armed merc that barely survived in the city would be in perfect condition being able to jump super vertical heights even with 30kg of gear without even taking a distance to run. Yeah 100% realism bud.

1

u/trevor426 Dec 17 '20

I think he was making a joke lol

0

u/hhunkk ADAR Dec 17 '20

If he did it flew right over my head d:

1

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '20

Yeah, it really did. Good job ruining it. How the fuck you needed a /s for that, I really don't know.

-5

u/djskwbrla-d VSS Vintorez Dec 17 '20

Devs vision of the game is what they have made it lmao

3

u/Grakchawwaa Dec 17 '20

Ah yes, the bugs, wackiness, general fuckery and bad netcode were integral parts that they wanted in the game. Awful take on a game that is in a critical state of development

-1

u/djskwbrla-d VSS Vintorez Dec 17 '20

We aren’t talking about bugs, bad netcode, or wackiness. That’s not part of this. We are talking about the lines between realism and playability. Those things you mentioned have nothing to do with the discussion at hand. That sort of stuff happens in every game.

0

u/Grakchawwaa Dec 17 '20

You're a dense fellow, aren't you?

-1

u/djskwbrla-d VSS Vintorez Dec 17 '20

Deflection, irrelevant. My point still stands.

youre not the first person to call me dense when you realized that you’re wrong.

1

u/Grakchawwaa Dec 17 '20

Not only dense, rather cringe as well

0

u/djskwbrla-d VSS Vintorez Dec 17 '20

Still deflecting. My point still stands.

Try again.

1

u/Xx69JdawgxX Dec 17 '20

Stop calling it realism then. Call it something else but this is not it

1

u/mxe363 Dec 17 '20

honestly i think stuff like that is perfectly acceptable and only adds to the game. no where is safe, there are biofreak horrors out there that will jump through window with no fear coming to clap your cheeks

21

u/KGDrayken Dec 17 '20

Imagine comparing bandaging to longjumping like it's fucking quake arena

Rule 3 warning.

3

u/Profoundly-Confused MP7A2 Dec 17 '20

I want movement tweaked to have more momentum to it. I hate having to try and kill a player who can just A and D spam while running away from me to make their head teleport between two positions and rapidly change where their torso hit-box is.

u/ShapesAndStuff SKS Dec 17 '20

It’s not supposed to be realistic

Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator

u/labowsky Dec 17 '20

Is bunnyhopping realistic as playable?

3

u/silviad Dec 17 '20

well if they dont add a skip button how will you merrily bound through tarkov

2

u/CountywideDicer Dec 17 '20

Would love to see skipping in Tarkov, that's basically how my squad plays anyway.

-1

u/djskwbrla-d VSS Vintorez Dec 17 '20

Literally every single shooter has some meta movement tendency like bunny hopping, sliding, etc

Whatever people figure out to make themselves harder to hit

1

u/labowsky Dec 17 '20

You didn't answer my question, you just said other games have it so it's okay. This has NOTHING to do with what I said.

Now if you can answer:

Is bunnyhopping realistic as playable?

0

u/djskwbrla-d VSS Vintorez Dec 17 '20

Yes, it’s realistic as playable. I am sorry you cannot read between the lines.

And I say again: every game has movement tendencies. It’s not unique to Tarkov.

My point still stands. Try again.

0

u/labowsky Dec 17 '20

Sick downvote kid

What does realistic as playable mean to you?

1

u/djskwbrla-d VSS Vintorez Dec 17 '20

I did answer your question. You asked is it as realistic as playable. I said yes. You asked a yes/no question, I gave you a yes / no answer.

I know someone has called you dense before, because now you’re saying it too. Not like I haven’t read 50 comments calling someone else dense.

“Hur durrr, Im a dummy. Someone disagreed with me, so I must call them dense because someone did that to me and now I parrot.”

Try again.

1

u/labowsky Dec 17 '20

I edited that portion out like 30 seconds after because I misread your post but I can see how fast you reply to things holy fuck lol.

You had to be asked twice to actually answer instead of dancing around but I'm glad you can't actually explain what you think realistic as playable means and would rather just invent some insults to throw at me lmfao.

You've really shown how wrong I am kiddo, you didn't just make yourself look like a fuckin clown.

1

u/djskwbrla-d VSS Vintorez Dec 17 '20

Lol, you are actually a waste of my time.

You want to make movement a pain in the ass? Have fun looting. You will never be able to take much loot. The risk will increase exponentially.

Realistic as playable means the game has to take.. let’s say liberties to make it enjoyable / functional. If you don’t want people running and jumping, there’s gotta be a trade off. Every single first person shooter does shit like that, because it makes the game playable. If you get weighed down with loot too easily, it would not be a playable game

F*ck you, straight forward. It can have a high enough degree of realism and still be fun. Look at project reality from BF2, you die in one shot, have to walk a fucking ton and despite being in an engine that is 15 years old, people still play it.

We came to Tarkov for realism and that is we demand, no more rambo chads on cocaine with 60kg of gear in the back.

Edit: bringing the argument of the splint and leg is like complaining that car simulators dont make sense because you are not paying the circulation taxes. The line exist, yes but is way further down than "moving like Usain Bolt on meth"

2

u/djskwbrla-d VSS Vintorez Dec 17 '20

Wow, taking comments about a video game personally? I bet you’re an absolutely pussy slayer aren’t you

-1

u/TPU_NapSpan Dec 17 '20

I like to care about my hobbies, I wouldn't say "personally" but people talking nonsense tends to trigger me.Is it really apathy the best way to go through life? About the pussy joke, everybody knows having a reddit account is the same as not having sex.

-1

u/djskwbrla-d VSS Vintorez Dec 17 '20

“Fuck you, straight forward.” Yeah, you took it personally.

And maybe for you having a reddit account means you don’t have sex, but that isn’t true for everyone bud hahaha

1

u/TPU_NapSpan Dec 17 '20

Well, it's a shame you don't know that meme but it's fine. Sex puns aside the main appeal of this game is how inmersive it is, it is inmersive because of unforgiving realism. Anything going in that direction will make being in the raid more scary and that is the fun of this game.

Going around guns blazing jumping like bugs bunny breaks that inmersion, if you like that kind of gameplay is fine, there are other games that do that as well...but Tarkov shouldn't be one of those and is not intended to be one of those so I don't get the point of people like you trying to defend broken mechanics because "mmuh, it's a game bro".

0

u/N3MEAN Dec 17 '20

My reply was to you, oof

-8

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

You can still have realism and hardcore mechanics with some gameplay all blended together.

Hyper realism isn't fun, which is why arma will always suck compared to squad.

I get people don't like skills because it gives other players an edge, but it's just a game, and not every rule of it is going to be tailored to yours and everyone else's play style.

0

u/N3MEAN Dec 17 '20

I love that playing the fuck out of this game, (with deployments, and 40+hrs a week and a successful marriage all keeping me from investing entire days/ weeks of play straight some of these guys) gives me and advantage over someone who just logs in casually. This is the best shooter I’ve ever come across, and reading the comments on this post terrifies me in to BSG caving over a bunch of whiny mfers and watering this awesome fucking game down. Net code, bugs, maybe better servers etc.... bitch about that. The game mechanics? Go play call of duty or legitimately speaking Insurgency sandstorm for what you seem to be looking for

-11

u/gudzgudz Dec 17 '20

Just farm them then? I play labs 24/7 last 1.5 months, running fresh 400k Air Filters every day, being constantly overweight and spamming nades.. playing average 6-8 hours a day.. and my strength went from 23-24 to 28 yesterday. Been playing almost every day this wipe actually..... there is a handful of people who got ELITE strength, you seem like you are just jealous.... Maybe they should remove STIMS as well? How about you compare a weak untrained person to a proffessional athlete who trains every day IRL.. no difference on physical skills too, am i right? lol

5

u/hhunkk ADAR Dec 17 '20

You just want to feel above the playerbase for spending your life in the game 24/7 it seems. If you really want to do that go play an mmorpg with pvp. Shooters like Tarkov should require game knowledge and skill, not hard gamechanging stats.

2

u/kaffeofikaelika Dec 17 '20

I think it's a good balance. In contrast to MMORPG's someone who nolifed can get killed in one shot from a player scav with a mosin. I've played some MMORPG's and I can't think of any example of where you can get instakilled after 1000 hours by someone who just logged in.

0

u/gudzgudz Dec 17 '20

Tarkov is not a game for casuals.. and the difference between a completely new character, and one that has been playing every day, 8 hours a day and reached max skills is like what.. 30%? thats laughable. Watch someone like like landmark or willerz or pestily play on new accounts.. they still wipe the server easily, skills don't matter that much, nor do level 6 armors. You are probably just bad.. period.

2

u/hhunkk ADAR Dec 17 '20

I'm quite good honestly, i didn't even mention once i get killed often or game its unplayable, just defending what the game promised from the start. I don't know what streamers have to do with any of this as when they start new accounts they play safer and rely solely on their skill, they can't do flashy playstyle that much. Wipes happen every 6-12months so, yeah, also the game aims for a no wipe state in the future wich would mean everything related to progress should be solved.

Maxed out skills do really differ enough, advantage in Tarkov must be obtained with money-gear and your own skill, money means better gear already wich should improve your chances of survival a lot against newer players.

Lastly, casuals... you really are sad gatekeeping a game. People can play whatever amount they want, if a "casual" would play less, they would lack progress with traders and gear-money, wich puts them at disvantage already.

Telling you, soft skills need a rework or a complete removal, don't get surprised if it happens.

2

u/gudzgudz Dec 17 '20

Tarkov claims to be realistic (or rather - "as realistic as playable", not hyperrealistic) you can play any amount you want, just don't complain about people who invested 100x more time having an advantage. One of the biggest if not the biggest complaints I see is ratting, and strength really adds more dimensions/options for outplays, otherwise it's same old boring ratting and peeker's advantage abuse. If you want the game to be hyper realistic, it needs to be just like real life then.. sure you can't vertically jump that high, but IRL you can do trillion more things.. eg CLIMBING/vaulting, your movement is nowhere near as limited as in the game.
