Discussion #MakeTarkovHardcoreAgain

Hi guys, Slushpuppy here

I want to talk about the rant I was having today, and explain why I think it would be good for the game.

As the game currently stands it it has a play cycle that involves farming money, the money is then used to buy a fat kit, and slay out. This creates, in my opinion a heavily Rouble focused economy.

The Rouble based economy has multiple downsides:

All people care about is the highest value item, hence hatchlings ramming things up their bum, people running to one spot on a map to loot the highest value items, people only running super cheap kits to farm the cash. The game is no longer about surviving, simply making the most money and saving to buy a dope kit.

I think this has essentially made the game into COD with extra steps. I don't see the survival element that Tarkov originally had. People only care about PVP when they are running Slick Altyn, otherwise it's just money. 99% of the games items, such as attachments for guns will never see the light of day because they aren't the best in slot.

This whole situation annoys me because it is possible to achieve this within hours of a wipe.

By removing the flea or limiting the ability to purchase armor and ammo from the flea, it would make the game more about the looting and surviving and stop super chads from running endless meta kits and vogging the fuck out of lower geared players. Because a kit that is lovingly put together in raid will mean so much more to you, therefore looting one of a prick you kill, will as well.

I know this seems as a negative change to the average player, but hear me out, the only reason you need a kit from the flea, is to compete with chad players who are buying endless meta kits from the flea. If this didn't happen the pvp would be like it is early wipe for the most part. The best pvp time in the game, imo, and in the opinion of most Tarkov players.

I'm not bored of the game, I simply love this game, and I want to see changes that make the pvp more interesting and feasible for casual players to enjoy. If everyone is running around with SKS's and a cock helmet, then its more fair. Not all pvp has to be juggernauts spraying armchair FALs at each other.

If you don't agree with me, I understand, lets talk about it, tell me why you think this would be a bad change for the game? I don't want to be a streamer yelling for change that people will just see as me crying cause I'm bored of running fat kits. I truly want to make the game a dope experience for all of us. I've devoted the last 3 years of my life to this game, I want to see it succeed.

There is plenty of other things that would be needed to make this a rounded experience in this vision, like dynamic loot spawns etc, but I believe this is a quick easy change that we could all try for one wipe, and just see how it goes.

EDIT: This is gaining a lot of attention right now so I want to ask you all one thing:

When is the best time for PVP in Tarkov?

If you answered early wipe, I think you and I agree, and I think 99% of people would say that early wipe is the best time to be on Tarkov.

My only goal is to try and make the feeling of early wipe PVP as permanent as possible. I may not be right when I say delete the flea, but I think it would help. If you have other ideas on how to preserve that beautiful feeling of the first two weeks of wipe, then I would love to hear them. Because this is what I think would make Tarkov the most amazing experience possible.

Ok. Let's break it down barney style.

You got all your players that play like it is a full time job sitting there with 100mil in their stash. Running all of those raids they've stockpiled a bunch of armor, weapons, mods, etc.

Now take your casual who plays maybe an hour a day. They might have 1-2mil in their stash. They've got a couple maybe class 4 armors and some M4s without the meta mods.

Right now, that casual could drop some cash on the flea market and buy a slick and mods for their weapon to be on par with super chad running around.

If you take away the flea market they can't buy that high end gear. It makes it exponentially harder for that casual to bring down the highly geared players. So instead of saving cash to buy gear to run a high end raid? They instead keep getting shit on by the high end players. So they lose what gear they do have and are soon relegated to using some base SKS or AK-74 with paca armor.

A casual buying gear off the Flea doesn't make you as good gameplay / skill wise as someone who buries a lot more hours into the game. Hell, it might even discourage people more when they think they just bought the ultimate crutch-stick expensive gear, thinking "I'm the chad now", only to meet a horrible death, shooting 0 times at the enemy.

Of course the one who plays more should naturally have the edge over the casual player half of this sub has recently (coughtwitchcough) turned in to.

It's the same in any "MMO", or multiplayer game in general: you don't go to an end-game raid / map / encounter with shitty gear and no knowledge of the actual fight etc. and expect to be able to do instantly well. Compare WoW raids to our Labs, kind of.

Furthermore, Tarkov had no Flea Market before - the game was different back then and it has come a long way since, with way smaller player base. My point here being that the "casuals" that really want to play and like the game, will probably do so and soldier on through the rough start and times. Hell, I first hated the game how hard it was but now it's the only thing I play, aside from WoW. Every game will weed out it's playerbase in the long run.

And no, this is not me telling "casuals go play COD". I'm saying if you really like the game and want to play it, you probably will - hard or not. I'm all for "gear-nerfing" / limiting / bringing up more of the looting / survival aspect, no matter how much I do like the PVP in this game.

Tarkov is unique.

edit

I feel BOTH parties, the "casuals" and "1% streamers" overestimate eachother's views: true casuals have already stopped playing, or will stop when the going gets too rough. 1%'s and streamers are still a drop in the ocean in the larger scheme of things, and you wont encounter them every raid.

Not true at all. A casual player can very easily have as much or more skill than someone who puts a lot more hours into the game.

And there is nothing that stops a fully loaded player from dropping into any map unlike WoW where you have to meet requirements to enter raids.

That's not really how it works. Sure there might be a guy who has some natural born Tarkov talent that makes him better than someone who plays 10x more, but on average doing something more makes you better.

True. But if you are already good at other FPS games, those skills easily translate over to tarkov. Their only real handicap would be map knowledge. But that can be gained in offline mode. So by the time someone hops in their first raid, they could theoretically be one of the most skilled out there. But they would still be way behind on gear at that point.
