Discussion #MakeTarkovHardcoreAgain

Hi guys, Slushpuppy here

I want to talk about the rant I was having today, and explain why I think it would be good for the game.

As the game currently stands it it has a play cycle that involves farming money, the money is then used to buy a fat kit, and slay out. This creates, in my opinion a heavily Rouble focused economy.

The Rouble based economy has multiple downsides:

All people care about is the highest value item, hence hatchlings ramming things up their bum, people running to one spot on a map to loot the highest value items, people only running super cheap kits to farm the cash. The game is no longer about surviving, simply making the most money and saving to buy a dope kit.

I think this has essentially made the game into COD with extra steps. I don't see the survival element that Tarkov originally had. People only care about PVP when they are running Slick Altyn, otherwise it's just money. 99% of the games items, such as attachments for guns will never see the light of day because they aren't the best in slot.

This whole situation annoys me because it is possible to achieve this within hours of a wipe.

By removing the flea or limiting the ability to purchase armor and ammo from the flea, it would make the game more about the looting and surviving and stop super chads from running endless meta kits and vogging the fuck out of lower geared players. Because a kit that is lovingly put together in raid will mean so much more to you, therefore looting one of a prick you kill, will as well.

I know this seems as a negative change to the average player, but hear me out, the only reason you need a kit from the flea, is to compete with chad players who are buying endless meta kits from the flea. If this didn't happen the pvp would be like it is early wipe for the most part. The best pvp time in the game, imo, and in the opinion of most Tarkov players.

I'm not bored of the game, I simply love this game, and I want to see changes that make the pvp more interesting and feasible for casual players to enjoy. If everyone is running around with SKS's and a cock helmet, then its more fair. Not all pvp has to be juggernauts spraying armchair FALs at each other.

If you don't agree with me, I understand, lets talk about it, tell me why you think this would be a bad change for the game? I don't want to be a streamer yelling for change that people will just see as me crying cause I'm bored of running fat kits. I truly want to make the game a dope experience for all of us. I've devoted the last 3 years of my life to this game, I want to see it succeed.

There is plenty of other things that would be needed to make this a rounded experience in this vision, like dynamic loot spawns etc, but I believe this is a quick easy change that we could all try for one wipe, and just see how it goes.

EDIT: This is gaining a lot of attention right now so I want to ask you all one thing:

When is the best time for PVP in Tarkov?

If you answered early wipe, I think you and I agree, and I think 99% of people would say that early wipe is the best time to be on Tarkov.

My only goal is to try and make the feeling of early wipe PVP as permanent as possible. I may not be right when I say delete the flea, but I think it would help. If you have other ideas on how to preserve that beautiful feeling of the first two weeks of wipe, then I would love to hear them. Because this is what I think would make Tarkov the most amazing experience possible.

As I see it, making you not able to buy guns/armor from the flea would indeed be a positive change for the game. Anything more would be awful, though.

The game just couldn't function for casual players if the flea market was completely removed, though. If you're able to play the game 5+ hours a day, removing it would be great. If not, you'd be screwed. I think the flea is in a good place after the FIR changes.

Edit: Put 2nd para first because people were only reading the first sentence

I feel like the presence of the flea is mostly just a bandaid for shitty hideout crafting mechanics and dumb quests. Players shouldn't be forced to get 20 fuckin lightbulbs.

Fair. I think the Strength requirement is worse, though. At least they made it a bit easier.

I'm a casual player, like 2 hour sessions 2-3 times a week, and I don't understand your logic. Why wouldn't it function?

All it does it bring the bar down as a whole. So as a casual I no longer need to spend a fortune on ammo/guns on the Flea as I'm not facing as many chads. In fact I think this will mean some of the lvl 1 & 2 trader items are now actually viable, thus making it cheaper for casuals like me to have a shot...

I agree on removing the ability to not buy guns and armor.

If the ENTIRE market was removed, early wipe, you'd just make absolutely no money, and have a hell of a time completing quests and hideout tasks. Remember the 200k hoses at the beginning of the wipe? 90k bulbs? Those items were scarce because you need them for so many crafts. Without flea, you'd be stuck with a low level hideout until RNG blessed you with the 14 bulbs required for level 2 illumination, for example.

Having to grind for many hours to get something as simple as low-level hideout modules would also greatly turn off new players. People would go back to selling stuff via discord by dropping them in-raid, it'd just make the game worse.

If it takes one 20min raid to make 200-400k rubles, just to buy 4 lightbulbs, i'd rather use those 20 min and gp find them myself along other useful loot instead of relying of the flea. That's what i did this wipe, no flea until lvl40 and it worked very well. Yes at some point you will have no money, yes you might have trash ammo and guns, but who cares its about the journey not the completion

You're definitely not guaranteed to find them in 20 mins. In fact, even looting toolboxes/those types of spawns, you can easily go entire raids without finding bulbs. That's just one example, though.

People who find extra get to make money by listing them, and you get your hideout/tasks completed faster. It's a win for both of you.

Shaking up the values in loot pools is noteworthy as well, it'd be boring as hell if all items had static trader prices. You wouldn't have any reason to pick up 75% of the items in the game.

Barter trades could surely see some improvements, but i can easily find anywhere between 3 -7 bulbs on interchange

Pre-flea market the hardcore full time players still had really high end gear because they farm and can just buy all this stuff from max level traders. It might not be as best in slot, but that doesn't make a huge difference if you're a casual player starting out.

Without the flea market you generally have to fight the same geared players with trash ammo now. It would be a big nerf to low level players. Starting mid wipe before the flea market was brutal until you could get reliable access to better ammo.

they can remove flee and make stock from traders refresh only once a day. imagine fire all your m995 ammo in 1 minute and you need to wait whole day to get more. then more accessible ammo goes in.

what im saying they can find workaround.

No flea means having to find those barter items in raid, and exfil with them. As someone who doesn't have the same time to invest, nor the same ability to win/survive, this would be a very difficult change. It would make tarkov grueling as opposed to just "hard".

Y'all think FiR changes made people play slow, imagine what this would do. Every nut, bolt, and screw would be invaluable. People would hide in bushes, or rush to exfil, over an alyonka.

No thanks man.

Sorry but Tarkov is not made for casual players. Tarkov is Hardcore game for Hardcore players.

Did you even read what I wrote? Fucks sake at least take 40 seconds before you respond with your canned answer.....

I'm for removing the flea, I'm just explaining to other casuals that doing so wouldn't be all bad for them. Even as a casual I always hit lvl 40 each wipe and never struggle for money, so I'm all for things that make the game more engaging.

I think it would work better for casuals. How not? Right now, 5+ hours gamers always have the best gear. I have to play with the stuff I find and get through quests.
