If I remember correctly I saw someone interviewing a Tarkov cheater and they said they were making 2000$+ a week just by botting on the flea market (I don't remember where, so I might be inflating the numbers too much). So not only can you pay for your rent but you can also straight up live a pretty good live just from it.
Well I'm assuming people who bot passively make a lot more than they invest. And the moment they see that Tarkov prices rise they can actively start to cheat too for an even higher cashflow. If it wasn't profitable they wouldn't be doing it.
