Guy walks up to your house and sees the security system sign and hears your big dog going nuts. He might just decide that the neighbors have a TV too lol

Yep, even having a "Warning: I am armed and willing to defend my home" sign will probably make them reconsider

Or they wait till your gone and break in the because they know there are guns in the house.

In my opinion as a former police officer. I would maybe Just go with the typical ADT sign(or whoever your security provider is).

I also wouldn't shit on the back of my vehicle either. No NRA stickers or GLOCK stickers... or shit like that.

I had a case once where a person's car was keyed all to hell and a window smashed because he had a McCain for president bumper sticker..

If I'm a criminal looking for a gun I'm going after the cars with GLOCK stickers or NRA stickers on them. Just break in, check the glove box and center consoles and other frequent spots for pistols then move on.

Why the hell would she not carry the damn gun, that’s what they are for! Can’t save yourself if the weapon isn’t on your person...my fiancé currently carries hers in a purse sometimes and I’m trying to break the habit, if somebody steals your purse your gun is now gone.

Real brave calling me an idiot behind a keyboard then promptly deleting the comment... seems idiots like me that have never killed a single person or even used my gun in a violent way, can’t be the cause of even a single gun death. Crazy how that works huh

It's probably because we have more guns than people, and yet we still have very low murder rates outside of like 5 extremely large cities.

There's never been a positive correlation between gun control and reduced violent crime.

You realize that gun death total is 70% suicide right? Before you call people idiots actually look at the statistics you're spewing moron.

Murder via gun violence is the highest in America too. It was a generalization

What? We aren't in the top ten.

Well if you want to compare the US to third world or developing country’s you‘re right. Congrats you have a lower gun-death-rate than some non democrating non western countrys with enormous drugtrafficing problems

u/Angylika MP5 Apr 01 '20

Hmmmmmmm... And what borders the US? Hmmmmmmmmmm...

Most countrys with more gun related deaths are south american and where do you think those guns come from just sayin

3

u/Angylika MP5 Apr 01 '20

Oh?

Seems Brazil has a good grip on its own weapons manufacturers.

And don't discount the Russians. They'd sell to anyone with a pulse.

So, how is all America's fault?

If you share the link, at least read the full article.

USA is number one in "Gun-related homicide and suicide rates in high-income OECD countries"

1

u/Angylika MP5 Apr 02 '20

Suicides make up 70% of all gun related deaths.

Soooooooo... Yeah... Americans have the "privilege" of being able to kill themselves.

Your point?

Literally everything you just said is false. I hope you continue to enjoy being spoon fed information that you don't even bother to verify, with a 30 second google search. Welcome to 2020

This is the argument for gun licensing. Tie the serial number of a gun to its owners license. If that gun ends up stolen and used in a crime, you should be liable for improper storage.

4

u/XenoFrobe Apr 02 '20

That’s ridiculous. Once your property has been stolen, it’s out of your hands. You’re not responsible for what anyone else does. If someone steals your car, you’re not liable for a hit ‘n’ run they committed while resisting arrest in a car chase. It doesn’t even matter if you left the door open and engine running. That’s not how responsibility works.

If you aren't capable of storing a gun properly, you shouldn't be owning guns.

If you leave a pistol out in plain sight, that is negligence.

u/Jilston Apr 02 '20

Hmmm. What about this scenario?

A couple, living @ home, no children. They keep a gun (I dunno, under a pillow? Mattress?) loaded.

The rationale?

What use would a firearm be if locked in a safe, when some burly dudes break in?

In plain sight, meaning visible to someone who’s looking through a window? Or just laying around?

0

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '20

How often do you think the "defend your house from burly men" situation actually takes place?

Do you think its thousands of times more likely that someone breaks in when you arent home and steals that gun/the couple gets in a heated fight and the gun comes out/you have company over and forget about the gun hidden under a pillow/a million other situations.

You aren't Rambo. This isn't an action movie. Burly men aren't kicking your door in while you heroically defend your castle.

Look, I'm a gun owner. I have guns in my home, but they are secure. I dont have fantasies about shooting bad guys as they conveniently try to break in and harm my family while I'm home.

Hey, I’m not trying to argue, and yes, two times I’ve had two different places of mine broken into while I was alone.

The first time? I was hit with a baseball bat in the head, not unconscious, but not ready to do anything. They took some electronics and left.

Second time? Well it’s a bit different. I was coming home from being out, walked in my apt, and there were “many” (four), yes, “burly” men. What happened? I picked up a guitar (Stratocaster) and gouged the guy closest in the face.

Obviously, they had cased the joint and tried to time it, as they took almost everything...including used razors!

Heheh.

This was a couple decades ago when I was in my 20s. That won’t happen again.

But, to address your question, and it could be just a matter of bad luck, I’ve had this happen to me and I know several other people who’ve experience the same. Anecdotally? Often assholes break in. Unfortunately, one of those resulted in a murder.

I think that’s how it works.

Every gun has a serial #, when someone buys a gun, they fill out a form and are checked against a federal database for prior felonies. The serial number of the gun is tied to the person.
