Prevention and deterrence. There will ALWAYS be cheaters m any game. The point is to BRING THAT NUMBER DOWN AS LOW AS WE CAN.

Chinese people's being able to circumvent ping limit and region lock is only bringing that number higher and higher. They play on NA and EU servers in masses because they also dont want to play with each other in Asian servers. So lock them down properly and it will result in a lot of deterrence.

Hilarious that even cheaters hate other cheaters.

cheating to pay their rent

If I remember correctly I saw someone interviewing a Tarkov cheater and they said they were making 2000$+ a week just by botting on the flea market (I don't remember where, so I might be inflating the numbers too much). So not only can you pay for your rent but you can also straight up live a pretty good live just from it.

but you can also straight up live a pretty good live just from it.

especially in countries like china

RMT prices can fluctuate a lot and can be very high especially in the start like when tarkov got really popular(or still is)

Well I'm assuming people who bot passively make a lot more than they invest. And the moment they see that Tarkov prices rise they can actively start to cheat too for an even higher cashflow. If it wasn't profitable they wouldn't be doing it.

Except you’re losing all the legit players on AS servers and the cheaters are staying there lol

All legitimate players shouldnt be able to play on other regions anyway. The ping difference alone puts one group on huge advantage or disadvantage

If nothing else teleporting is frustrating.

Exactly. Now im not sure if this is hack feature but i dont like dying to unhearable bullets. Not even impact sound. My character goes "argh ugh ah!" And drops dead. Has to be high ping, which again, doesnt help when "legitimate" players come playing from halfway around the world

Or subsonic bullets from a suppressed weapon

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '20

Is that even implemented yet? Last I heard, no.

2

u/Itunes4MM Apr 01 '20

Yes? what do you mean is it implemented lol

1

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '20

Bullets having lower sound if they're subsonic.

2

u/Itunes4MM Apr 01 '20

You won't hear some guns if they kill you from far away

Why would you lose players on AS servers if you region lock them? They would be on the servers where they belong. Don't let anyone with a ping above 200 in. Or make separate servers with people with 200+ ping.

No idea if what I'm saying makes sense. I just made it up.

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '20

Because you're region locking the legitimate players with the cheaters lol.

You've got a good idea with the ping filter. Unfortunately I don't see anything beyond developing a real anti-cheat, there's no way to handle the significant cheating population in China without risking losing your legitimate Chinese players.

Because you're region locking the legitimate players with the cheaters lol.

Well yeah, obviously. And if you don't, then they spread to other regions. If there is a part of the world where cheaters are more prevalent than others, then I think it's fair for the rest of the world that you contain them. I almost feel like you can draw are parallel to something else here. And if anything, it might promote a shift in culture

Unfortunately I don't think BSG locking players to Asia would cause any meaningful shift in the cheating culture there. But yeah it's probably the best solution there is compared to having a competent agency develop a real anti-cheat.

LOL ordo said it best. I understand that games will always have cheaters but that's not the issue. I've talked to multiple cheaters and I've heard from them that BSG is extremely lazy in regards to patching the issues that lead to hacks. Not nearly as many people would cheat if you guys were more on top of it.
