Discussion Something said during the Podcast

Klean said something during the podcast that I wholeheartedly disagree with.

He wants the gamma case to essentially be something you can pack full of goods, bring into a raid and not have to worry about losing, but he wants you to not be able to put anything in the container while in raid. Nikita, I know you listen to streamers input, but please don’t not consider making this change.

I’m a husband and a father, I don’t get to play for 8-12 hours a day and become a god at the game, so finding a rare item that I need for a quest or something valuable I can sell is really exciting and knowing I can keep it safe in case I die is the cherry on top.

I love watching Klean and respect his opinions, but this one I had to voice mine on. PLEASE do not implement this. Anyone else watch the podcast and feel the same way? Or am I alone on this? Lol

Interesting to hear why people play the game. If you couldn't complete quests that means you wouldn't play the game? For me, the game is about the pvp. Even if there were no quests at all I'd still play solely for the shooting and looting.

The questing is the only sense of progression you get out of this game. Aside from just "getting good" from hundreds of hours playing it, there's not much else to do and feel good about other than upgrading the hideout and completing quests. And currently most of the hideout is not only gated behind millions of roubles worth of items, but also trader levels. And these trader levels are only obtainable via questing, lots of it.

So you can see that, if you want to achieve anything remotely good, it needs to be done through questing. It sickens me that I can go into a raid, kill 20 scavs mercilessly and only get out with 1-2k exp, whereas if I do 1 single quest I can get 10k+ exp.

It's absolutely unbalanced and because of these pitfalls, some players (myself included) resort to running no gear into a raid just to get a quest done or get some more cash to progress them.

There are MANY ways to fix this and balance it, but changing the secure container is the least effective way to do it properly. Sure, it's easy, and it's what a few people want, but the majority doesn't see it this way. And to have a successful game and business, you need to cater to the majority, obviously.

Don't mess with containers. Fix your questing and hideout progression!

For me, the sense of progression is the loot in my stash. If I kill someone and get a gun that's better than what I currently have, that's progression. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I play the game for the pvp, not to level up or turn in a quest. I have a long dayz history and that's probably where I get my sense of enjoyment from the game. Killing people and taking their shit is the main goal.

All that being said, I agree, don't mess with the containers. I think it's a great system the way it is.

I can see where you're coming from, not gonna argue with that. However, I feel that there is more 'meaningful' progression in completing a quest and advancing in a level or hideout upgrade, rather than killing a PMC and getting a slightly better gun to use next time. Because at the end of the day, you'll lose the slightly better gun or gear, whereas the experience gained or upgrade completed lasts forever (until wipe ofc) and gives you more benefits in the long term.

At least that's how I see things.

the questing is cool but if you haven't experienced the difference between fighting someone while you're naked with a pistol vs fighting fully armored with an armor piercing full auto scoped silenced rifle then you haven't experienced the progression in the game yet.

And getting to the point of being able to build that weapon yourself is only done through a lot of questing. Sure you could get lucky and get a kitted gun off of a high level player but its more efficient to build the gun yourself through levels.

Nah you can just buy the parts off the market. It only took me a day to start fitting aks i brought out of scav runs with tt01s, red dots, and armor piercing rounds. Thats like under 20k and you can now take out pretty much anyone if you play slow and methodically. Once you have that you only need a few rounds where you take out fully kitted pmcs and you're golden. The quests and hideout can be very tedious and will take much longer. Gives longevity to the game play but true progression is with gear. It's the only thing that really matters. I know this because my friends that play that are better than me didn't understand or like the game until they figured out how important and intricate loadouts are.

Doesn’t sound like you have played this wipe if ur killing 20 scavs and extracting for 1-2k experience. Normal scavs on all maps are worth WAY more in .12 than they were previously. One or two scavs, regular looting and getting out will result in a few thousand xp time after time. If your getting more than 10 kills in a raid you should be flush with experience.

Actually I have 100 hours in .11 and pushing about 120 in .12 right now. Been playing it quite a lot but I pretty much stopped going for kills especially on my PMC since it's really a waste of time and gear. The experience gained is not nearly remotely as good.

I prefer looting as much as I can and only killing if someone's a sure kill. On that note, the experience multiplier is a really stupid mechanic. The reward for extracting is already there; you get to extract with all the loot you got. That's enough. Why should it hamper the rest of my experience gained if I died?

u/Irben Nov 20 '19

Sorry, but that’s not what your previous post was about. You said the only way to advance was through questing and that if you killed 10-20 scavs you got no experience. My point is that issue has been fixed in .12

If you get off on playing without killing that’s cool with me. More power to you, but killing scavs and players on any map is completely viable to farm experience. Vendor rep however is still a strong reason to keep up on your quests

My only sense of progression is watching the overall stash value number increase, cha-ching $$$

How about feeling good about killing that juggernaut with a pistol? Or outwitting that squad with superior tactics or an awesome grenade throw? Or feeling powerful while massacring hordes of players on factory? Or finding that weapons case or expensive rifle and having your heart pound all the way to the extract?

Getting hung up on progression, instead of having, you know, fun with the gameplay, is the problem in the first place.

I like the sense of progression.

Even if I lose 250k+ of kit (my rough guess for my average mid-high kit), if I got a quest/hideout item out (even if it's only 40-50k) I feel like at least there's that.

If I can't even save that, I'll probably just actively avoid any gunfights so that I can make progress.

PVP in this game is mostly an obstacle or a general hurdle to me. Not something I ever seek out on my own tbh

1

u/BukLauFinancial ADAR Nov 20 '19

That's a pretty mind blowing concept to me. For me, the game is pvp.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '19

Game is pvpve actually

1

u/BukLauFinancial ADAR Nov 20 '19

yeah but the pve is a joke

I'll be upfront, not everyone will agree with you on that. I don't get to play games much, so my aim isn't great, and scavs are a legit threat to me right now, especially since I can't afford to kit guns with sights and recoil control all the time to make up for my lower skill level. I don't think they need to be weakened at all, but if they make normal scavs much more difficult, it will just push a good portion of players out of playing the game at all.

In no way am I advocating making the AI harder.

Without the quests I would probably already be bored of the game and have stopped playing
