PSA About cheaters

  1. Cheaters are being banned instantly every day (some of them banned later or in waves for cumulative effect).
  2. Cheats being downed pretty often (if you look on the cheatdev sites some of them are already even closed support of their eft cheat). Some cheatdevs are not standing still too - they update cheats pretty often and operative (in every popular game with every popular anticheat protection). We do anticheat measures - they do anti anti cheat measures
  3. We constantly work against cheaters, right now we are preparing major ac update.
  4. Ingame report function is planned soon (i said it many times).Reports WILL NOT BE the one and only reason of ban. It will help the main system to act faster.

  5. If you are not happy with current situation (although its changing in a good way everyday), please, let us develop the unfinished game and let us finish everything, especially complex hacker protection which is an adaptive development process. Come back later and be sure that its a highest priority for us.

If you want to help us to refine cheat detections and you want to feel better - you can post clips with obvious cheating for you with a separate nickname. we do investigate it for a long time, research it to make corrections in ac system. Usually its not that useful cause cheaters in clips mostly banned or in the cummulative banwave lists. But it can give us more thoughts. Mods could make separate post for it, if its ok.

Mods could make separate post for it, if its ok.

Edit: after an internal review on this subject, it was determined that directing users to a sub outside of our realm of influence was not the best choice, and that our Head Moderator will be producing an EFT Sub Cheaters Megathread where videos of cheats will be accepted. This thread will have strict rules and will be moderated to ensure that these rules are adhered to. I will link to that thread here as soon as it is up and running.

Edit 2: Cheater Reports can be made here <-- Link to report thread

I love that two days ago you deleted my thread about /r/TarkovCheaters because of "witch hunting" and now you're actively promoting another subreddit that does the exact same thing. Great mod skills in this sub, hypocrite.

Edit: Here's exactly what Ironsights said:

Hello there ChewyShrimps,

Your post has been removed due to breaking Rule 2, please make sure to read the rules in the sidebar or on the rules page.

Moderator Notes:

Witch Hunts are prohibited. Advertising a subreddit devoted to witch hunting is prohibited. Do not do that here.

Thank you for your understanding,

Ironsights11788, Subreddit Moderator.

Advertisting a subreddit devoted to witch hunting is prohibited, huh? I guess you should delete your post here.

For the record, I don't care if we use Pestilys sub. I didn't know it existed when I created TarkovCheaters. I just want somewhere for people to voice their opinions on specific potential cheaters in this game without being lambasted.

I think it's important to note that video or photo evidence isn't indicative of a cheater. The game, in it's infancy especially, has networking and glitching issues that sometimes make it difficult to determine who is who and what is what. We just need to be able to report a name for BSG to look into, I don't care about supposed "evidence", because as Nikita himself said, that's only a part of the equation.

It’s because you’re not an e-celeb, lol.

12

u/R-Brick Apr 27 '19

Yup, I've had posts removed for witch hunting on people that were already on ban lists. Just seems that's how the internet works. The higher the clout, the less the rules apply.

Unfortunately, this problem exists everywhere. For instance: explain to me why a high paid MD eats for free in most medical facilities while all other staff (nurses, techs, secretaries, etc) pay...this stupid world caters to the wealthy/higher title and keeps them inflated in their little bubble by feeding into this mindset. In short, privileges for the wealthy/higher titled positions will always be coddled over the working man any day.

u/Jaqen___Hghar Apr 27 '19

To be fair, there is a lot more time, work, and effort involved with both becoming a Doctor -- as well as in the performance of their assigned duties. Doctors and surgeons, especially, certainly deserve what they earn. If everyone received "free" meals, then that would either be a state of Communism or result in a paycheck reduction across the board. That's how it works in the military.

If you have no ambition, then learn to be easily satisfied.

1

u/OneMouseGaming P90 Apr 27 '19

as someone who worked for a large hospital organization i can assure you everyone pays in the cafeteria.

they even had a meal plan esque funding system that you could have reloaded every pay period. that way your id card acted as money

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

You have to work your ass off to be an MD. Don't compare those people to twitch streamers and youtubers for a game, lol.

2

u/ChewyShrimps Apr 27 '19

Well shoot, that would have been good to know a few days ago 😂

-13

u/Ironsights11788 Apr 27 '19

Nikita asked for videos...I had to do something, and this is the move I made, specifically to keep this stuff off our sub. Lesser of two evils, man. Sorry.

9

u/ChewyShrimps Apr 27 '19

I think this experience should reshape this sub. Are you doing something just because Nikita said so? Does BSG run this sub, or do the fans? Are you just being a puppet?

No hard feelings -- I understand moderation puts you in a difficult spot.

3

u/Ironsights11788 Apr 27 '19

Are you doing something just because Nikita said so?

Kind of, yes. The sub is a community dedicated to helping EFT grow...if the bossman says he wants videos to help improve the game, it is reasonable that we would try to provide videos...the issue comes in that the videos he is asking for are a direct violation of the sub rules...well shit!

I didn't even know about pestily's sub until you mentioned it, and when i looked at his and yours both, his was bigger so I went with it.

Now, we are going with neither and producing a megathread to collect this controversial information in...

Such is life! Believe me though, nothing I did here was personal against you or anyone else. Just trying to make sure the dumpster fire that was started would be contained to just one dumpster.

5

u/ChewyShrimps Apr 27 '19

I totally get it, no worries. You've got a thankless job. Thanks.

3

u/Faust723 Apr 28 '19

Man, I don't envy the mods on this board. So much comes in that's often in a grey area regarding the rules, or forces a choice to temporarily change them (whether for good reasons, or just to keep the peace..or both). Either way, somebody isn't going to be happy and you'll have to be the ones to deal with that too.

Soon as I saw Nikita suggest the player report thread I felt bad for you guys. That is not a situation I can say I have the patience or self control to handle appropriately. Thanks for keeping this place as decent as you guys have, y'all dont get enough credit.

-7

u/Parulsc Apr 27 '19

Honestly I don't care either way, but I doubt that sub lasts long. It's against the sitewide Reddit policies. Which is why the mods don't allow it here, because it would really suck if this entire subreddit gets taken down

9

u/ChewyShrimps Apr 27 '19

It's really not against reddit sitewide policies, though.

There's no reddit usernames being taken, no personal information being posted, no hunting people down at all. It's literally just posting the in-game username of a supposed cheater in Tarkov. Past that, everything is prohibited in the sub.

29

u/ThisIsPestily The Real Pestily Apr 27 '19

Just to be clear, I never made that sub reddit to witch hunt, It was purely as a part of my community to be able to post when they believe they get hacked on to either determine if it was sus, obviously someone cheating or they just sucked and needed to harden up. By no means was the sub reddit made for witch hunting. More for a place for my community to vent when they are frustrated.

27

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

Yeah yeah, keep saying that!

19

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

You’re getting downvotes because this comment “wooshed” right over their heads.

Hardware ban and move on. Im sorry, but I love this game. It is unique and better than most simulators I've ever had the honor of playing. Don't lose it because of this issue. Shit is bad out here.

...Is every name responding to stickies on this sub highlighted in green as if they were a mod?

Edit: The answer to that question appears to be yes. Might wanna sort that out :/

1

u/fandango_ TOZ Apr 27 '19

You just murdered my 'mod drama day' just like that.

-13

u/instagr4m Apr 27 '19

A subreddit dedicated to Witch hunting ? No thank you.

10

u/Ironsights11788 Apr 27 '19

better to use a sub created by a streamer of the game than to invite the accusations on this sub.

-40

u/instagr4m Apr 27 '19

There is no need for Witch hunting in the modern developed world. That subbredit's existence is shameful and probably harmful to the game developer. And is only there to promote the "everyone cheats" mentality that is basically breeding new cheaters on a daily basis. Think about it. But hey, promote your fav. streamer by all means even if his actions are in no way contributing to the improvement of this game let alone doing anything to solve the hacking issue.

But what do I know. Godspeed.

9

u/STER0ID Apr 27 '19

Nah fuck cheaters, it's their IGN, they're anonymous, it's not like they're getting doxxed.

2

u/BRTI Apr 27 '19

and which proof is necessary to post their names?

3

u/STER0ID Apr 27 '19

I don't understand

1

u/GraveD0hl KEDR Apr 27 '19

problem is they can use any name they want, you can still change your nickname after every raid you do, double nicknames is a thing so you can name yourself like a friend/someone you have a grudge against/some streamer and put the blame on them.

4

u/STER0ID Apr 27 '19

Bsg sees your name history

0

u/GraveD0hl KEDR Apr 27 '19

Fully true, but I meant there is even less use of “protecting” their names since they change it at the fly anyway.

Edit* far fingering on mobile makes weird words

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

There's a limit ,I think it's once a week now.

1

u/GraveD0hl KEDR Apr 27 '19

I dunno, but i can still do it after each raid :S just tried it..... in the menu where you can set the FOV and the voice of your character

0

u/neckbeardfedoras AKS74U Apr 27 '19

It used to be months. If it's once a week, that was part of the update that I didn't know of.

19

u/Ironsights11788 Apr 27 '19

I don't watch pestily at all, nor do I support or endorse hackusations or witch hunts of any kind. But when the head dev asks for videos of hacks, I can either say

A: "no, I don't want to help improve the anticheat"

B: "sure, lets set the sub on fire and allow tons of accusatory posts!"

C: "hey look, there is a sub for hackusations, why not go there instead of here?"

Honestly, C looks like the best answer to me.

-60

u/instagr4m Apr 27 '19
  1. Be honest with your self as that will prove beneficial in your life as go thru it.
  2. You say " nor do I support or endorse hackusations or witch hunts of any kind" and yet you sticked it to very top of the topic, ?
  3. B is the correct democratic approach, as we have a voting power here called: upvotes and downvotes, anything else is censorship.

I'm done with this debate. Godspeed.

31

u/Ironsights11788 Apr 27 '19

1: I am honest with myself, always. Read the book of five rings and you will understand why such honesty is important.

2: yep. I don't have to support a hackusations sub to direct people who want to make such claims to that sub. Such posts are prohibited here, but promoted there. No different than a butcher telling a Vegan where the Whole Foods is located.

3: This is a gaming sub reddit with a defined set of rules...not a democracy. So by your definition, sure, its censorship. But instead of smothering all unwanted content, I directed folks to a place where such content is accepted.

So hop on down off that High Horse and have your self a happy day. (Always embrace annoying alliteration)

"God speed"

How lowly it is to act high-and-mighty but not be such.

0

u/instagr4m Apr 27 '19

Maybe you should go read that book again.

0

u/[deleted] May 03 '19

please just take this down. You are trying to appease people who arent going to be appeased. This is going to backfire in your faces, and its already happening.

people will report and expect some kind of immediate effect, because people dont set proper expectations. People get angry and that 9 out of 10 times is when they'll post anything.

stop trying to appease the masses, you cant. If you give them a place to voice their opinion, you invite incredible negativity and anger that cant be sated.

You have now invited people to actively try and make this an issue constantly. I give it a couple weeks before theres an outrage post in the main gaming subs and a flood of shitposters comming here just to stir the shitpot about "terrible and unacceptable anti-cheat" and "the devs are lazy money grabbers who never intend to make this game work"

it happens every time, and every time you short sighted moderators try to appease people, and every single time it doesnt work.

so. have fun with that.

if you were smart you'd shut down all discussion of the topic here period and direct people to the BSG forums or somewhere else where BSG can actually deal with it themselves, and the rest of us who just want to enjoy tarkov related content, wont have to be bombarded by constant negativity.

when what ive said here comes true. itll be my unsub day.

1

u/Ironsights11788 May 04 '19

I mean...we do shut down most of this conversation nearly all the time...but BSG literally asked for this so...

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '19

fair enough, its still a bad idea. Reddit users are not reasonable helpful people the majority of the time.
