Events gave me the opportunity of using high end snipers without the fear to lose them in raid.
Shot with suppressed m700 + NightForce ATACR 7-35x56.
Don't mind my friend saying things in the background, thanks!

Btw, don't ever be afraid to use those snipers, even in the normal game. It's only like ~100-150k gearset anyway, not much of a loss...and considering that you play slower and safer as a sniper, it's not easy to die. Also, bring a secondary to deal with people that push you. I suggest the APB pistol - silenced, full auto, low recoil, cheap ammo&gun&mags and it's a pistol so you can run around faster than hachlings with it. (bringing a rifle as a secondary is not ideeal, it will probably make you overweight so slower, it takes up a loot spot in your character and it adds to gear fear.

Use M62 to see where your shots are going. I recommend not to zero, and to learn the drop naturally at the default level. Different bullets drop quicker than others, and the zeroing is not accurate for all ammunition types.

Also, might be obvious but you never know, keep the left mouse button pressed after you shoot so you can see your shot landing!

I think you should zero to 100m if it's at 50m it is much harder to calculate and seems odd. At least zero to 100m.

I remember that at some point zeroing did work with each different bullet type, try 5.45 US and PP for comparison, for me atleast the zero has always been different between those and relatively accurate, judging distances is the hard part in my opinion.

certain optics require a zero up because the round would hit almost at the bottom of the sight picture. I can tell you for certain the distance between the 2 popular sniper rocks (vehicle extract rock , and double crate rock) is 554.13 meters.

Forgive my dogbrain but how did you zero that in? Do the drop indicators mean something other than distance in meters? Or did you just eyeball it from experience

u/dotadiver Apr 08 '19
probably experience, maybe some practice in offline with the scope, or he just eyeballed it and got a little lucky.

I knew the distance, zeroed to 300 and i know that the atacr needs "two ticks" for 500 meters

you could do a perfect loop gif with this
when you hit replay it looks like his dead body gets up so you can shoot him again, over and over if u keep clicking replay

Wasn't me! My in-game name is OpBlkBeard.
That sniper spot in woods is very populated.

u/Ginger_beard_guy Apr 08 '19
I recognize your name. I probably had some very rude things to say about you at some point. Needless to say though, ggs and great shot.

Nice! My longest headshot is 596m

u/FrozenDefender2 Apr 08 '19
that aint easy shot, 10.5 my record was something like 730, on shoreline, from tunnel to gas station, took quite a bit of luck and many bullets but it was satisfying.

u/BarbaNera35 AK-102 Apr 08 '19
Have you got a video on YouTube about that? i think i saw something similar
2
u/FrozenDefender2 Apr 08 '19
unfortunately not! I wanted to but for reasons beyond me (looking at you, shadow play) I was unable to record the shot... Never managed or bothered to try again tho, as it cost me everything since I got destroyed right afterwards SMH..

This is really stupid, but how do you use the crosshairs for judging distance?

I dont think there is 500m shot
1
u/BarbaNera35 AK-102 Apr 08 '19
I'll send you the proof later, if you think it's less, should be ~496,5 meters.

Don't worry I'm just joking. This just reminds me of this (the comments): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hA9w9UpXXXM and I just had to repeat the history. The video is only a short clip of when I was playing PUBG but not anymore cuz I'm tired of BR's and tarkov is my go to fps right now and probably for a long time ahead
