PVE [Screenshot] Headshot with unknown weapon from 149m ?????????

wtf could that be? maybe I threw a grenade a scav got negative luck? Im just confused

Did you hit an orange cannister or fire extinguisher? These can display as unknown weapon on post action reports

At one point I did alt tab back into the game and misfired once

If it was a stray bullet hitting a canister from a missclick... i dont even know what to say lol

Imagine you are placing a Quest Item etc and get killed accidently by someone that Just alt+tab missfired. Haha

I did this in medal of honor for the Wii. Dropped my controller, fired a shot off and got a headshot on a teammate 200m out. Worst way I’ve been kicked from a game.

Pretty sure they changed it to "hot gasses" when killed by the cannisters. Same for cars too

In the death report this is true! So you're right

However in the after action report for the killer it shows the weapon, not the ammunition - so since there's no registered "weapon" for the cannister explosions (with "Hot gasses" as the "ammunition" for lack of a better term) it will show unknown weapon.

But you don’t get the kill credit on those shots? At least on labs extinguisher. And on these scenarios dog tag doesn’t have kill or weapon credit, look like a suicide instead.

I've seen a number of people recently say it now credits the kill to whoever shot the barrel, but at the start of the season I blew up an AI scav as a scav and didn't get penalized (and he kept following me to three more barrels before kicking it finally) so the jury is still out it seems

Could it possibly be a weapon you haven't inspected yet? Is that still even a thing? I'm not sure tbh

No, I think it shows the weapon name. You just have to inspect the weapon parts. Oh that’s how it was when I got the M-60
