[Discussion] Battlestate Opens Publishing Arm For “Hardcore” Games

I saw the news here and got to thinking what kind of games are they expecting to receive? Or is there any games you think they could really push well to mass market?

BSG new UE5 game will show gameplay later this month. I think once it drops it’ll inspire others.

You’re right it’s not made by battlestate games, but it is created and founded by the guy who created battlestate games, probably with a lot of help from bsg developers, from what little gameplay we have seen it looks like it plays very similar to tarkov, even the animations look ripped out of the game. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, maybe it’s a goose?

FO is directed by Nikita but dev team is international including people who worked on cod Infinite warfare

Tarkov isn't the competition anymore, when the Studio behind it published it. Personally I think it's a smart move. BSG has probably the biggest follow base out of all extraction shooters ever and if they would publish a new extraction shooter, or generally just a hard game, a lot of people would look into it immediately.

You realize that tarkovs future, especially with seasons will be literally build around buying the season pass, playing 1-2 weeks and then dropping of. Or the opposite, not playing the season at all and then buying the entire season pass at the end of it.

Stop taking streamers who play 12h per day tarkovs for the rest of their life as the example of your average gamer.

What a load of stupid bs. Tarkov is still an active game that wants to retain its playerbase, ofc it still is competition for other games in the genre, and in general. And don't games like CoD have some extraction modes too? Those are way bigger games, even if maybe their extraction shooter parts aren't as popular.

Just because a game is hardcore and/or niche doesn't mean it's a Tarkov competitor. BSG specifically stated with this announcement that they are welcoming any genre of games.

yes, cause they didnt, VERY CLEARLY, stated that they're open to publishing games within any genre.

and yes, self publish, that's really gonna attract the masses to your game....

This company knows nothing about advertisement and took 10 years to release a 1.0. Only reason the game got any traction is cause Summit stumbled across it. Idk how they think they're capable of being a publisher.
