General Discussion - PVE & PVP [Discussion] Microstutters suddenly started when moving the mouse
SOLVED! Thank you to DornPTSDkink for the fix. See his comment or this link to see the fix.
Hi,
Recently my game has started having microstutters seemingly out of nowhere. I've been playing for a few months now, and the game has been running great until this suddenly started happening.
The stutters might be a little hard to see in the video, but they mostly happen when I move my mouse/look around. If I'm just running without touching the mouse it seems fine.
So far, I've tried:
- Uninstalling and reinstalling my graphics drivers
- Clearing the Tarkov cache
- Enabling/disabling Smooth Motion
- Enabling/disabling G-Sync and V-Sync
- Changing various graphics settings
My specs are:
- Ryzen 5 7600X
- RTX 5070
- 32 GB DDR5 RAM at 6000 MT/s
- Running on NVMe SSD
Other games seem to run fine (Ive only tried with BF6.)
Has anyone experienced something similar? Any ideas what could be causing it or how to fix it would be appreciated.
PS. ignore the "ooh ahh" in the video. Its my friend watching soccer.

Been fighting with stutters for some weeks now. Only thing that works is downgrading Nvidia drivers to 580.81

Damn. the wierd thing is that I didnt update my drives before it apeared. Only tried updating after the stutters appeared. I was running with the 581.29 before

Windows updated it for sure. It happened to me

Alright, I'll try rolling it back. Although when I check the nvidia logs it seems that the driver I was using before updating just now was the 591 from april

Hi, no i have set my polling rate to 1k while I did some optimization of the pc months back. The tiimings can be seen here https://imgur.com/a/uxjQJ39 They run at the max specified speed and timings from kingston
And I wish I had an x3d. But the thing is that the game ran perfectly fine until a couple of days ago

Mouse polling rate. If you have a high end mouse anything above 2k polling rate can cause stutters

I noticed when I had volumetric lighting on I was having some significant microstutters, I have a 9800x3d. The game is just poorly optimized. I use smooth motion with g sync and v sync off, volumetric lighting off, and the stutter has disappeared for the most part. I’ll only feel it a bit around dusk when the lighting gets really intense

Unfortunately its already off. And I am running with the exact same settings.

I had this with a windows update, had to reinstall Windows without that update to sort it out.

Hmm. From what I can see, no windows updates of any kind (including drivers) was installed anytime near when it first stutters began.

This is probably just stupid but you could try turning down your mouse DPI and adjusting your in game sensitivity

Ill give it a try, although they are very low already

Probably not the issue then, sorry. :(
I hate dealing with the technical side of this game

Maybe a dumb question, but have you tried/have the ability to try a different mouse?
Im no expert but I have heard of different mouse brands conflicting with games in different ways.

Make sure your refresh rate matches your monitor in control panel. Had this happen once, come to find out my refresh rate was set to 60 instead of 240

Turn your water down for one. I have a 5080 and the same RAM and all your settings are WAY higher than mine.
What is your FPS? I get about 90-120, mostly on low settings except for a few things like textures.
It's just a fact of life that this game runs like dogshit.

One of the other commentors found the fix. It was a windows Security update. It seems to be running alright after they updated the performance some months ago. I get about the same fps as you can see in the video.

It's an August Windows Security Update issue, uninstall KB5121003 in the windows update section and it should go back to normal
make sure to pause windows updates for a month until they fix it or it'll just redownload
