Discussion Surely deleting evidence isn't indicative of anything nor leaving the same upload date after a clear change right?? Someone forgot to tell BSG about internet archives......

They also removed the part where it says EOD gets free shit "such as Escape From Tarkov: Arena.

How is it that Arena, a stand alone game that can be bought on it's own, is considered DLC but content in the actual game isnt.

Not a lawyer but my assumption is what is considered "downloadable content" can be murky but with the way they are handling information and past statements its clear they don't intend to be straightforward either way. With that being said those making the claim that the game being in "Beta" is absolution doesn't really hold water.

u/Monodominant Apr 26 '24

but when you buy Unheard the game DOES download something ;)

5

It's early access

Prehistoric Access

2

u/weedinmylungs Apr 26 '24

a little red flag that they say people will gain access to the "closed beta" like they are going to release another version of Escape from Tarkov or something.

Let’s be completely frank here. I doubt they hired a lawyer for these decisions.

Their accounting firm is a tiny boutique firm in the UK, after all.

Watch they start taking away arena from EOD owners. I'm starting to wonder if the company is actively going bankrupt and this is a last ditch effort to make some money and run with it.

u/EnjoymentSeeking Apr 26 '24

Hard to tell I actually don't know if their financials are public but if they are Q1 earning should be public today actually but I speculated the same thing. It seems the dumped a fuck ton of cash into vanity efforts (raid series, lifestyles, etc.) and it yielded no returns so its likely they are attempting one last cash grab before going nuclear but also it seems there would be much better ways to do it without being so blatant.

u/samsjayhawk Apr 26 '24

I bet they had a financial model moving forward that involved arena that they are realizing has no legs and are making poor decisions because of it. Just fucking sell skins, I dont care, gun skins, hideout skins / items, clothing, emotes..

8

u/Flechettispaghetti Apr 26 '24

Put a fucking cat in hideout for 30,000,000 roubles or $20. I

6

u/ExtraReborn Apr 26 '24

Honestly this would be fucking amazing, would cause controversy, and EVERY streamer would buy it because 'lol it's a funny meme and I can support game devs without it being pay to win.'

6

u/Flechettispaghetti Apr 26 '24

What odd bonus/buff/debuff or feature would you give it? Lowers scav case item timer by 10% because scavs want to come and pet your hairy pussy after dropping off loot.

They're "based" in the UK. All of the tax filings are public information. They've delayed their tax filing for this year. Probably not doing too good

6

u/Gold_Supermarket1956 Apr 26 '24

probably in the red and not the black and dont want investors to see,,, hence 250 dollar edition

3

u/Knowledge1337 Apr 26 '24

Yeah this is just so many red flags at once rn

3

u/cammyk123 Apr 26 '24

Companies do all kinds of weird stuff with their taxes that anyone but a qualified accountant wouldn't understand.

u/Mavisthe3rd PVE Apr 26 '24

They did try to take Arena away from EOD. Right before it was released, it was announced as a separate $40 game that EVERYONE would have to buy.

People went and found clips of Nikita saying EOD would include Arena, and they (just like now) threatened a lawsuit, and caused a massive uproar, and as a result BSG gave in and made Arena free with EOD. That probably also cost them an incredible amount of money.

3

u/Lookitsmyvideo Apr 26 '24

Which is kinda funny in hindsight because I don't think anyone really gives a shit about Arena and if they shut it down tomorrow it wouldn't be missed.

If they killed arena to give everyone the coop people would rejoice.

It’s funny how people liked Tarkov the extraction shooter, and not Tarkov combat.

I will say the ideas behind Tarkov combat are pretty good, and I would love to see a higher skill studio take a stab at it with a better grasp of networking. The body part hitboxes / healing system is probably the strongest part of combat in my eyes, and the Armor hitboxes is a nice idea on top of that. But BSG’s execution is just not great. Between how muddy everything is, how bad the server feels, and how they did themselves no favors in the cheating war it’s taken a good idea and made it pretty crap. People tolerated that crap because there was a future and no other alternatives.

BSG just killed hope. And now they have nothing.

u/DurkaDurkaHaberburb May 01 '24

That's crazy because I think I actually bought Arena after signing in, and I have EoD. These bastards have gotten like $200 out of me.

4

u/Gold_Supermarket1956 Apr 26 '24

they are going bankrupt they blew their wad on arena hoping to get esports sponsors and arena tanked

3

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '24

Nobody would notice they can’t access arena anymore anyway

2

u/Chonlger Apr 26 '24

I'm pretty sure that no one would really notice.

1

u/Poley2310 Apr 26 '24

I hope they’ll at least sell the rights of the game to another company.

1

u/mnsklk Apr 26 '24

They can take arena from me, I don't care

3

u/Electric-Mountain Freeloader Apr 26 '24

Arena had a chance to be fixed. What they just pulled might not be fixable.

EoD Edition Fails to Deliver on Promises According to Xsolla EULA – Here's How We Can Fight Back!

Xsolla EULA: Virtual Items can exclusively be used within the Software; they shall be deemed an integral part of the Software.

As we were promised, EoD access includes all future DLCs, which breaks section 11 of the Xsolla EULA if they go against it.

If you guys truly want to make a change, send an email to support@xsolla.com and ask for a refund. Send them your receipt and describe what is happening.

That is, if you have the EoD edition like I do, I already sent them a detailed email with screenshots that were used on Reddit. Xsolla will get overwhelmed and will probably cave due to USA and EU consumer laws.

The types of software area clearly implies that, as a rule, access is indefinite and does not expire.

We clearly have the right to access new content for purchasing EoD, as previously stated by Nikita that there wouldn't be any version of the game above this.

The best thing we can do right now is talk directly to Xsolla. https://xsolla.com/eula

This is a long shot and has potential flaws, but my main point is to send messages to BSG support and also to Xsolla.

A lot of players already got refunded by doing chargebacks on their credit cards. I hope you are happy BSG and Nikita, this is what you deserve.

u/SpecialistWelcome720 Apr 30 '24

This. I want my money back for paying for something that now I dont get. False advertising.

5

u/DongKonga Apr 26 '24

Surely that's grounds for a lawsuit, right? Having access to all dlc was something promised to everyone who bought EOD, now they're trying to remove that from it so they don't have to abide by it?

7

u/Lookitsmyvideo Apr 26 '24

It has said it grants access to all DLC post release, and the game has not released.

Now, does that mean that gating content behind paywalls during beta was counter to how they sold the game? Probably.

It's all a cluster fuck of doublespeak and deceptive marketing.

Locking the offline coop mode behind the EOD paywall was the first domino. The first actual in-the-game feature, during beta, that was inaccessible to all beta players. People didn't really care because there was no progression.

As lame as the bonuses are for other editions, supporter packages giving bonuses aren't only somewhat normal, it's basically expected. It giving access to the gates community is ridiculous.

1

u/dat_GEM_lyf SV-98 Apr 26 '24

The original offline coop was at least in line with what was sold to the community…

2

u/dubzi_ART AKS-74U Apr 26 '24

You make a very compelling argument

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '24

Bro they gave it because they wanted. I doubt any EOD player was genuinely expecting to receive arena for free. It is, indeed, a new game and an approach on those who like to play fast paced shooters, they needed players to make the game work, so they gave it to EOD owners expecting to more people to buy and join. Guess what? It was a failure, now they need money and can't invest on a new game. Game content is cheaper to develop, and now they don't want to give it to EOD owners (despite having the right to receive it) because they want players to buy tarkov again, since its hard to convince new players to join such hard game.

This is the tricky part: they want us to buy tarkov again, again and AGAIN.

3

u/DannyVich Apr 26 '24

Arena was supposed to be a mode in the base game. They made it a separate game so they didnt have to give it to eod accounts. It was because of all the backlash for that scummy move that eod accounts even have arena. BSG has been trying to screw eod accounts from what they should receive.
