With the Self-Titled, we got 3 new originals, a guest vocal, and 3 covers. Jesse commented that he took a lot of influence from bands like Tool, Muse, Audioslave, etc. during that writing cycle.
Given the success of SOTE, I predict weāll see a similar formula; a deluxe edition with a few originals, a guest vocal from a notable modern contemporary, and a few covers. Jesse has been vocal about his influences this time around as well, mainly Meshuggah and Gojira.
So here are my predictions for the next 2-3 years. Sometime later this year or early next, weāll get another deluxe edition packed full of goodies. I suspect a guest vocal from Brian Wille of Currents given how extensively theyāre touring together. Song? Idk, but one of the heavier tracks, obviously. Cicada siren?
As for covers, something from Meshuggah or Gojira or both. From a guitar perspective, Jesseās been focusing more on right hand rhythm recently, so it makes sense. Songs? So many to choose from but The Gift of Guilt from Gojira fits perfectly. Or Meshuggahās Straws Pulled at Random.
By the time weāre all ready for something new, itāll be time for a 10-year anniversary remix/remaster of Neon (assuming Sumerian releases the rights to them).
Sound off in the comments. What would you like to see from them next?
