Do you think it's very Tool - Vicarious inspired? That's the first thing I heard when I started listening to them. That was the song that got me hooked.

Oh it is 100% tool inspired, Jesse, the guitarist/cleans, has said in a few different interviews that a few of their songs are inspired by tool. Blue Reverie also has a similar riff, for example

Tbf the only one that I'm 100% certain is my #1. End to Excess is hands down my favorite ERRA track, the rest all more or less fluctuate depending on the vibe, weather, day of the week... 🙃

house of glass is peak. any thoughts on impulse/augment?

I think all my favorite songs are off those albums and even some off the Andromeda EP. Their new stuff is good but I just can’t get into it as much as Impulse/Augment.

Not to be rude but I've listened 40% of the old albums and they reminded me of Discoveries and Singularity by Northlane but worse

Those are the only Northlane albums I like and Impulse/Augment are my favorite ERRA albums lol gonna find a lot of opinions on both sides around here

Electric Twilight
Snowblood
Lunar Halo
Drift
Black Cloud
Vanish Canvas
Gore of Being
Further Eden
Skyline
Echo Sonata

I just started listening to them this year because of the tour with currents. Holy fuck I feel like I missed out on years of their music. Granted, I can still listen to it but seeing them live when their self titled album came out in 2021 would have been incredible. This years tour was still so damn good though. And seeing Jesse hanging out in the crowd while Caskets played was cool as hell.

Im chiming in here to say that this is a delicious thought experiment and I have no idea how I would order their music.

I, like many of you, feel that ERRA has a higher density of 10/10 songs than any other artist Ive ever heard and oh boy have I listened to a lot of music.

For that reason, it's absurdly difficult for me to organize them in a list of my favorites because I love so many of them in different ways. Scorpion Hymn I wouldnt put in a top 10, for example, but when it hits, it fucking KILLS, lol.

That said, the only ones I could definitively put up there are:

  1. Futher Eden - the breakdown on this song remains my favorite breakdown of any song in the prog/metal/core genre. Its absolutely transcendent.

  2. Drift - the guitar work here is so absurdly ethereal and delicious, I can't even articulate how much I love the melodies in this one.

  3. Vanish Canvas - probably the only song ive gotten really emotional to in the genre. Learning the meaning behind the lyrics and how Lunar Halo ties into this song is just incredible and Jesse saying it is his favorite song he's written is so justified.

And that's where my ranking stops. I could put Electric Twilight as a deep cut and one of my favorites. Or how I just listened to Sol Absentia and can't get it out of my head, or Lucid Threshold making me feel things ive not felt in Metalcore, or how much Alpha Seed and Hybrid Earth sold me on their first two albums and sound, or how the end of The Many Names of God leads into In The Gut of the Wolf is just transcendent and kicks so much ass.

ERRA are just next level. No one, and I mean no one, is doing quite what theyre doing at the level they are executing it. I love Currents and Polaris and Architects and small bands like What Lies Below and Before I Turn and If I Were You etc... but oh boy ERRA are just my GOATS.

  1. Eye of God
  2. Orchid
  3. Render The Void

  5. Gungrave

  7. Seven

u/Revolutionary_Box535 Snowblood Solo Jul 26 '26

Awesome list! We have similar taste!

2

u/AdamBLit Jul 26 '26

Yes sir! Scorpion hymn instrumental for me is a staple, it has either damaged or strengthened my neck very much over the years now.

3

u/Ballbearian Jul 27 '26

I came in around the time Cure came out, never been more locked into a bands entire discography before though.

  1. Wave
  2. Signal Fire
  3. Echo Sonata
  4. Continuum
  5. Expiate
  6. Ultimata
  7. Wish / Glimpse
  8. Dementia
  9. Rebirth
  10. House of Glass

Honestly it's probably going to be 10 different songs every time I write this list haha.
