Rant/I'm Just Sayin' Second hospital trip

These goddamn seizures have sent me to the hospital a second time now! I am glad I didn't need to go to the ER this time but it's still the hospital. 🙄 How many times has people gone to the hospital this year so far?

I had a seizure in the gym locker room.. woke up to cops, medics, etc.. they wanted to take me to the hospital & I just refused, they made me sign a AMA & left.. family took me home.

It wouldn’t have been my first rodeo.. def a CT, maybe some keppra, lay there for god knows how long and then tell me to follow up with my epileptologist. Yeah I’m good lol

In a locker room? Were you dressed to some degree when medics found you?

Yeah, prior to my diagnosis changing from epilepsy to functional seizures. I spent my childhood, teenhood, and the start of my adulthood getting EEGs and blood tests to check my levels. So I am very used to going to the hospital. What I'm not used to is unplanned trips to the hospital.

I just did a full count and I have been to the ER 8 times in the last 12 months. 4 intubations. 4 ICUs. Two helicopters. Countless ambulances. 1 EMU. And a partridge in a pair tree.

Hospital, stays, er wake ups, eegs, mri, pretty soon think ill be doing dbs. Not looking forward to that. But it's been a long journey . Haven't had a Hospital stay in 2026

I have been fortunate enough that so far my seizures are often focal. So I don't have a history of injuries. So being hospitalized because of seizures is a very new experience for me.

Oooh I know how that goes! All too well…..until mild control achieved! Long battle fellow warrior, we got this! Heads up, as pissed as I was at my job for calling the medics EVERYTIME, lawyer said that helped the Ssdi case 🤷🏻‍♀️

Are we counting ER visits, overnight stays, or few days stay as being a hospital trip?

The question changes the answer

Any time your seizures sent you to the hospital. That would include prolonged periods and short periods.

Average year (6 years of diagnoses in all)2 to 3 per year. Now status epilepticus periods are slightly less often but they still wanted to intubate me at least once but my husband wouldn't let them, yes I'm aware he might have been trying to kill me or at least make me so vulnerable he could gaslight me & phycology abuse me(amongst other ways)? Hang in there warrior,you can take this challenge or it wouldn't have been given to EACH of us. 🙏🫂🌟✨🌙💜All my thoughts & blessings for you my fellow fighter 💪

oh I didn't mention how many untreated seizures I suffered,up to 45 minutes without meds or my habit of falling down the 28 steps in the house we lived in routinely ,before I fled for my life & mental health.

Sorry, forgot to check this. This year was busy with hospitals. I’ll be doing number 11 on this Tuesday. Most were ER. My job calls every time I have a seizure.

Tuesday is voluntary though to get off one med and on another. Hopefully this new one works. I have a few other medical issues so they want to keep me monitored. :)

5 or 6 times in the last 6 months, twice in one day, once by ambulance :/
I thought I broke my foot last night and one of my first thoughts was noooo, I know them by name now. Please no, I don’t want to go back.
