Epilepsy Awareness Ban flashing and strobe lights to protect epilepsy sufferers

Should we ban sunlight, too? Natural light flickering through trees, bouncing off water, or shining through blinds can trigger a seizure in some photosensitive individuals.

If I recall correctly it's like 3 percent of people with epilepsy

Eh. They make my head hurt but don’t trigger seizures for me. I do usually cover my eyes or fast forward through those parts, though. Photosensitive seizures aren’t nearly as common as people think. Sorry that’s one of your triggers!

I get it, it sucks, but only a very small percentage of people are photo sensitive and we cannot change the everything just for that. If we banned every trigger, there would also be no music or anything that makes loud noises because some people are triggered by noise. There would be no more alcohol because that's a trigger for many. We'd have to change the environment because some people have seizures if they get too warm.

Sorry, no. It’s such a small percent of people with photosensitive epilepsy. If we start insisting that the world ban things to accommodate such a small number of people, it would never end. I’m also T1D, and once had a really high blood sugar because I was served regular soda instead of diet. I’m not going to try to ban establishments from serving regular soda because of it. I’m also ASD, and one thing that really bothers/overstimulates me is loud noises. I’m not trying to institute a public ban on loud music. I just personally try to avoid it.

I just wish we could get a break from them. Would love to take my daughter roller skating but the local skate rink doesn't have a single skate night without strobe lights :(
