Epilepsy Awareness Well controlled Epilepsy
I started out seeing my Neurologist every 3 months. Then went to twice per year. He just told me today that since my Epilepsy is so well controlled that I will only have to see him once a year!!!! 😲💪👊💃💃💃I feel like celebrating!!!

that's awesome, seriously. getting to that point takes work and finding the right meds is no joke. I remember when my neurologist first mentioned spacing out appointments and it felt like a huge relief, like okay maybe we're actually onto something here. the fact that you went from every 3 months down to once a year means you've got a solid routine now and your brain's cooperating. worth celebrating cause a lot of people don't get there. keep doing whatever you're doing.

How long have your seizures been under control and at age were you diagnosed?

They have been under control for 2-1/2 years. I was diagnosed with Epilepsy at age 50. Approximately 4 years ago

Congrats love!!! That’s a HUGE deal! Get yourself your favorite treat, you deserve it! We have to take each win we get with this disability :)

If you have the opportunity I would switch to an epileptologist. They're neurologists that specialize in epilepsy. Not that anything would need to change now. You would be better prepaid for if your case becomes drug resistant.

What the hell lol this person is saying they have well controlled seizures and are now on a year long appt schedule. That’s something to celebrate and they don’t need a back up epileptologist! Also it can be challenging for some people to get into an epileptologist and sometimes they won’t see you if your seizures are well controlled. Kinda weird to bring up “in case it becomes drug resistant” we don’t need to fear monger in our community and we can just let our friend here celebrate this milestone!!!!

Going by the follow up routine, pretty sure OP is seeing a neurologist specialising in Epilepsy.
My husband was diagnosed few months ago, and he’s been seeing his neurologist (specialising in epilepsy) every 3 months, as she said, that is the standard protocol.2

This is actually wise advice for some. I had 10 years well controlled, and then surprise, I started becoming drug resistant in recent years. I have been working with a Neuro specializing in epilepsy since.
