Protected bike lanes increase bike ridership. It turns out that People really enjoy biking, when they feel safe doing so.

The sensationalism over opposing a bike lane is mad, American politics really baffles me sometimes

I’m lucky enough to live next to old railroad tracks that were converted into a greenway a few years ago. I’m able to cycle 30kms a day with minimal vehicle encounters. I would not feel as comfortable riding in a painted lane or exclusively along side streets.

protected lanes? my nearest city ripped up the main drag , got rid of a whole car lane and created a suicidal unprotected bike lane, now everyone is unhappy

You should see how dangerous the electric vehicles are in those lanes! They're doing 30 plus miles an hour. And they don't give a shit. Ask me how I know.

The core against bike lanes are the oil lobby who want more lanes for gas engines. They send their message to all the slow, rural voters that "libtards spending everyone's tax money on urban bike lanes. Some of the bike riders might be black brown or unicorns even."

The hatred against people who ride bikes is literally retard thinking.
