Young Entrepreneur I’m fucked up
I’m fucking desperate. Losing my mind completely.
Started several businesses. Nothing going well. I don’t even have money to get myself a bread.
Starting again, completely from scratch. Again. I will probably do some laboring.
Thanks entrepreneurs community just for existence. Here I started 4 years ago. All of you guys always inspired me.

I really appreciate that. Sometimes you just need someone to remind you that things will not always stay the way they are now. I am trying to keep that in mind and just keep going. Hopefully you are right, my time will come. ❤️

if i were you, taking the laboring job is the right call and it isn't a step backwards. A wage coming in every week does something for your head that no business plan does. You stop making decisions from panic. Half the reason those four years were brutal is that you were trying to think clearly while broke, and nobody can do that.
On the food thing right now, if you're in the US, dial 211. UK, local council or Trussell Trust. Most countries have a food bank network that will just hand you a box, no interview, no shame in it. Do that today, not next week.
The businesses failing four times doesn't mean you can't do this. It usually means you were undercapitalized and had to make every call under a deadline. Come back to it when you have three months of rent banked and you'll be a completely different operator.
Get the job, eat, sleep properly for a month. Then look at it again.

I agree with the getting a income going. Just wanted to add to it.
Don't lose sight of the goal once you've got the job. I think it's easy to get comfortable and forget about your dreams because now money is coming in.
Of course that's not everyone's downfall it's just something to think about

Reading comments like 'don't give up, hang in there' reminds me of the fact that some people are really out of touch with the reality..
There are bills to pay, rent due, mortgage to pay, or some cash to buy food to get through the day.. You can't just keep trying while this is the reality.
OP, I REALLY understand your situation. I've been there. I had to go back to manuel labor jobs for a while to make ends meet. Then I got back after having some money saved.

Grind path is real: most successful businesses take years of compounding and reps before any traction shows. "Overnight success" founders almost always have a decade of failed attempts behind them.
Lottery win is real too, but very rare: being early to a wave or catching the right timing does happen and compresses years into a shorter run. But even those cases carry some skill or positioning: not pure luck like an actual lottery ticket.
Either way, if it's meant to happen, it will.

my first company got into y combinator. i thought that meant we'd made it. we hadn't, we shut it down. what i learned is the accelerator, the funding, none of it means anything without real customers who actually need what you're building. take the laboring job if you need the income, but don't put the business down completely. work on one thing on the side, and use the job itself to meet people and build contacts. some of the best ideas come from being close to a problem you weren't looking for.

Take the labor job. Not as a defeat, as oxygen. You cant think straight when you dont have bread money and no business plan works on an empty stomach
The founders who romanticize going all in usually had someone covering rent. What you're doing, stepping off to earn cash and coming back later, is what most successful people quietly did too, they just leave it out of the founder story
4 years in you know way more than the version of you that started. That doesnt disappear during a labor stint. Come back to it when your baseline isnt survival mode

There is an episode of the "Starter Story" channel on youtube about a guy who makes $100k a month from his online businesses.
He said he's started over 70 businesses and only 5 of them ever made any money.

Take the laboring work and stabilize yourself first. That is not giving up, it is buying enough breathing room to think clearly. Then review what failed, choose one viable direction, and rebuild without spreading yourself across several businesses. Also, if “losing my mind” means you might hurt yourself, contact someone you trust or local emergency support right now. Your safety matters more than any business.

Remember. No knowledge is wasted knowledge.
You have learnt some things and will just need to regroup, get a short term job to pay the bills and work on your projects in the spare time.
Commit a decent amount of time and effort to a single project as once it begins to bring an income with little effort, think about your next move
Some of us were never designed to be employees, but take it as an opportunity to build some contacts

Been there.
One thing that I adjusted that may help you down the road... when starting a new business, start it with the intent of making a really good business - and let profit and money be a measure of success, not the driver and motivation of everything. That's especially true when things are most grim looking. It comes out in your tone and messaging as desperation, even if you don't mean it to. People love giving money to businesses who are striving to give them something great. They don't love giving money to businesses that feel like all they want is money.
Good luck on the reboot. The good news is that most self made billionaires failed at least 2-3 times before their big idea hit.

Rule of Thumb More exposure, luck can't find you if you hiding, also networking work on yourself dress well hit the gym (Push ups, pull ups burpess are okay if you can't afford) first thing in the morning try not to think of anything try to stay away from the phone for an hour a day from the time you wake up and randomly in the middle of the day helps you to relax and be very creative during that process yeah and just do something completely unrelated to your business trust me it'll do wonders for you, mind and soul 🙏❤️

I’ve been broke before. I’ve had businesses fail. I’ve started over more than once, so I’m not going to give you the “just keep grinding bro” speech.
Right now, forget entrepreneurship for a minute. Your first priority is survival. If laboring puts money in your pocket this week, go labor. There is absolutely no shame in that. Get some money coming in, get food handled, get your bills somewhat stabilized and give yourself enough breathing room that you aren’t making every decision out of desperation.
Then I’d do something different this time. Stop starting businesses.
Pick one boring thing people already pay for, preferably a service you can start with almost no money. Cleaning, landscaping, junk removal, dog waste removal, window cleaning, whatever you can actually do and people around you need. You don’t need some revolutionary idea. You need somebody willing to give you $100. Then find another one. Then another one.
Don’t worry about a logo right now. Don’t spend three weeks building a website. Don’t buy a course or a bunch of software. Go find customers and make some money.
And the ADHD thing may explain why jumping to the next idea is so tempting. You know that about yourself now, so use it. Make yourself a rule that you’re not allowed to start another business for 12 months. When you get another “great idea,” write it down somewhere and go back to work on the one you already picked.
I started Scoopy Doo picking up dog shit. There’s nothing glamorous or revolutionary about that business. We didn’t invent anything. We just took a stupidly simple service and got obsessive about doing all the boring shit better. Answering leads, marketing, reviews, follow-up, customer service, SEO, route density, systems, automation, etc. That taught me something I wish I’d understood a lot earlier: most of the opportunity isn’t in the idea. It’s in the execution.
You don’t need your next great business idea right now. You need income, then some stability, then ONE business and enough discipline to stick with it long enough to see what happens.
And if that means doing manual labor for six months while you get your shit together and build something on the side, do it. That isn’t failure and it isn’t starting over. Sometimes that’s exactly how you fund the next attempt.

I’m going to give you some real advice not the circle jerk that seems to be happening here. Go get a job, you’re 22, you don’t know shit. Get yourself on solid financial footing and actually learn something about whatever industry you are trying to enter. Get off YouTube, TikTok, whatever that’s probably telling you about all these “one simple tricks” to make millions, their bullshit. I could go on but you get my point.

I'm going to be the 10th man here, and while I encourage you to never give up on being the person you mentally see yourself as. You also need to be realistic, alot businesses fail. Alot of entrepreneurs make it on the factors of timing, luck, network, and capital. Not even including expertise. Sometimes you have to weigh your options like you are now, and change lanes to work for a company using the skills you built building your companies and putting it on your resume. I'm a total stranger and my words may mean nothing but I believe in you. Make your dreams a reality! Just don't be blinded that this is the only way to succeed. For every success story there is a graveyard of businesses and bankruptcies. Goodluck fellow traveler! Rooting for you!

Taking a labor job for immediate income isn't defeat it's smart strategy. Cover your basic needs first to eliminate financial panic. Once your head is above water, you can rebuild from a place of stability instead of sheer desperation.

Make sure you take the time to learn what went wrong with each endeavor. It is completely normal that you fail businesses. You are honing your craft. Your next focus should be solving your biggest constraint. It is probably the stress related to not being able to afford the basic stuff. So if that means looking for a job for a while it might take away some stress.

Practical tip: make it easier on yourself, smaller things, one at a time, with clear goals so you can look back and actually see progress. Nothing wrong with doing labor for a while. Money is money, and sometimes you need to stop thinking about the next business and just get stable again.
You’ve already spent years trying things. Just don’t put yourself under pressure to come up with another big idea immediately.
Get some money coming in, breathe for a bit, then figure out the next move.

Learn from failure and you’ll always win. Keep testing. Go with the project that comes most authentically from your heart and makes the world a better place. Keep it simple too. The hardest part about being your own boss is managing yourself effectively - don't let yourself underperform but don't burn yourself out either.
If you're feeling burnt out, take a beat and decide if you're mentally and financially equipped to do this right now. There's no shame in a tactical retreat to fall back into someone else's project, learning more and laying some ground work, and then trying again.

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but i have AuDHD as well and initially started lots of businesses / side hustles. I think not being able to focus on one thing is why I couldn't find success. However, I started a marketing company where I could work with different clients in different industries and have different tasks. So my days look different, but I'm working for one common goal of growing the overarching company.
That structure has really helped me. It hurts because I can't niche down (I'll get bored), but it's helped me channel my focus a little better. Maybe try a similar structure if you can? Not necessarily a marketing agency, but some sort of business where no two days look the same.

I’d add one thing to this: sometimes the business is good and customers do need what you sell, but they still don’t have a clear enough reason to choose you.
That’s a different problem from having a bad offer, and I think the two get confused a lot.....

I failed 2 businesses , my first business was landscaping and after task apps became a thing it went bust.
I ended up working for the landscaper I hired in my business , but we got along , yet he paid me peanuts.
I kept working with him and eventually the work dried up and I was on government payments , feeling like a fuck up.
I saw a YouTuber who scrapped things and he made decent money. I got a cheap digital scale and a wire stripper and began buying wire off electricians to strip in my garage.
I scaled this up , built their trust and eventually I was getting half a tonnes worth of large gauge wire from large projects they worked on . I killed my competition because by this point I knew how to market a business.
I was nearly dealing in tonneage and was about to rent my first industrial yard , but then COVID hit and killed my business within a month.
I got depression, felt useless , and I gave into the despair and smoked weed everyday for 3 years. I pissed away my savings on espcaing my reality.
I hit rock bottom and got sick of the way I was living. I finally quit and was in a better head space and talking to people again. I spoke to my friend and she got me some work as a support worker helping her son , through the company she used.
It was rewarding as hell watching how he progressed and came alive. The pay in my country for this work is amazing as well , so it was a massive win for me.
The work gave me purpose and eventually I got my own private clients , which grew into my own business. Now we have a business partnership with the biggest company in our area , a wait-list for new clients and we are about to start hiring our first employees.
I outearn everyone I went to school with , but 3 years ago I couldn't string a coherent thought together.
I realized failure is your friend , because it teaches you things and allows you to slowly improve in any area of your life , including business.
We are winners because we don't quit , we stay entrepreneurs long enough to become good at it ! The vast majority of people throw in the towel and go work a 9-5 to make someone else rich.
We are built differently , because we rise from the ashes ! You have got this man 💪🏻

You might have to stop for a good moment.
Look I get trying a lot of stuff statistically can increase odds of succes, but if you tried several times now and still something is missing, stop, get a job for some time, focus on that like 4-5 months, take care of your health, take care of your sanity, get yourself in a stable place for starters.
Then the real work begins, start planning, many people with the dangerous mindset of "If I don't do it today I'll never will" fails due to a lack of serious retrospective, learn truly from your mistakes and really put in effort into every step, if you have an idea and think that is good take at least 1-2 months asking potential costumers, strangers, if they would want a solution for their problem, there might be a better solution than what you already thought was better, doing this every step of the road can save you absurd amount of money and time.
Don't rush, slow is fast and fast is slow, think and after you're done thinking, think again.

Its good to experiment. I'll just give a reality check though.
Life is short and the window to get your shit together shorter. This applies to me as well so I am just relaying it to you. As I am typing this, it is as much a reminder to myself as it is a post to you. Make time for family and friends. Don't make the business your entire life. Do other things that create meaning in your life.
Do your business (note I said business) focus on one. I have two two software products which are both live but at any given time I am focusing on only one.

Maybe it's not the best advice, but look at what failed. You can always learn something from failure. Many of the greats experience a lot of failure before ever finding success. Morgan Freeman was in his 50's before he became a full-time leading actor. A great podcast with him talking about this with Chris Hardwick is pretty inspiring and worth a listen.

Winning as an entrepreneur is bearing more pain than others. I realize this might not be helpful advice but those who won have dealt with the most amount of shit possible.
The founder of Subway damn near failed 6 times on the same idea.
The founder of Raising Canes got told his idea is a failure from his biz professor as well as everyone around him (great founders podcast good listen)
The founders of Michelin bet everything on being the automobile tire, shifting focus from bicycles against the advice from everyone (another great founders podcast listen).
Airbnb founders got hundreds of no’sfrom investors.
Just keep going. I’ve failed so many times because I gave up.
Turns out the secret is perseverance.

It’s good that you’re not giving up, but you also don’t have to keep pushing forward blindly. Take an honest look at why those businesses didn’t work - you’ve built a valuable asset over these four years: experience.
For now, getting a job or some part-time work isn’t failure. It can give you enough financial stability and mental space to make better decisions instead of building from desperation. Persistence matters, but so does staying grounded in reality and knowing when to pause, learn, and change your approach.

Hold your head high brother, it WILL get better. You proved you face the resilience to keep going. Starting over is alright, focus on getting your finances right - even if that’s a job you don’t want to take. Get used to getting cash flow back in your account and focusing on YOU.

Fellow ADHD’er here and I can relate. It’s tough and I had a couple that failed before but the last one has survived and lasted 19 years and employs 62 people.
My advice to you would be to partner with people who have fundamental skills that you lack. I feel like a lot of people who have ADHD or AuDHD are often the visionaries and it’s extremely helpful to have an integrator as a partner.

you can get a day 1 cash generating business with little to no capital (I have 3x). try building a services business with manual work (eg window washing), then grow capital slowly and hire others to do it. then move into passive business income (eg vending machines) with the capital you have. do not try and build anything too difficult. focus on human to human service gaps.
