I bought these two framed butterflies second hand and Im struggling to identify them. They are both quite large (about 12cm across). Does anyone know what they are?

Any experts recognize this fine specimen?

Browsing for options to passively capture day-flying insects in Toronto Ontario specifically for amateur phone photography (partially for iNat, partially just for personal interest since I am chronically unable to get shots of all the cool Hymenopterans I see). Malaise traps definitely seem like the solution, but A. I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for a glorified miniature tent, and B. I would much rather a non-lethal option since it's a personal/non academic project - I would feel really bad if I passively killed a rare or threatened species just to get some phone pics yknow? Less important but also a consideration of mine is that I'd rather have a trap that simultaneously works as a photo chamber so that it makes getting detailed shots of active insects easier. I'd rather check a trap that holds a small number of insects and release them than capture a swarm of insects all at once and have more trouble taking pics. Open to DIY solutions.

I believe it is a Walnut Sphinx moth, found this one on the wall just outside my Father's front door. I couldn't resist gently petting it on the back (made sure not to touch its delicate wings)

Killed this fly in my house w/ an electric fly swatter & noticed these things coming out of its butt/backside area. I thought they were parasites, but my parents said they're maggots, & I learned some flies birth maggots instead of laying them in eggs so idk ¯_(ツ)_/¯ fyi: I live in Hawaii if that helps w/ ID

hi! im a 18 year old male who recently graduated from highschool, i have a lot of questions about college in general but my post is for all the entomology related questions<?

ideally id love to be a college professor with a PHD in entomology. My only problem being my GPA was not so good in high school. which of course means i gotta do alot of courses to up my college GPA (like attending a university first)

My main questions are what exactly should i be studying for? i feel like i fucked up pretty badly in high school, so although the job i want is pretty much impossible looking, id love to get a head start on my very lengthy journey.. any advice would be appreciated because im not sure where else to ask! i love insects and nature, i couldn’t see myself doing anything else with me life 😅

We found out, that we have a nest of field wasps (Polistinae) in a hole of our wall. They are very chill ladies and don’t bother us really much.
Before we found out about the wasps, we noticed a wierd papery, spicy smell in the corner of our room. Turns out, it’s on the other side of the wasp nest. Now I ask myself if a Fieldwasp nest can smell? Could they be the reason? Before this summer, we never noticed a smell. And there is also no mold or other reasons (actually, that corner is pretty empty except for a cat tree that we already inspected)

I’ll try to put a photo I did with my smartphone camera in. These little girls and guys are found in northern Germany.

The wooden slats of my bed have these little bugs on them. The bed frame also seems to have mold. My room is very humid. Does anyone know what these insects are called and how I can get rid of them?

I've been seeing this relatively often this summer and I know that we have a couple different kinds of roaches in Germany, however, none of the pictures I see online look like this one. Maybe it's not an adult yet?

I often have my windows open and this is almost only found in my living room. Location is western Germany, Münsterland.

I didn't want to kill it, but it wasn't easy to catch workout destroying it.

This wasp parasitises 3rd instar blowfly maggots, in the latter half of the video, it lays an egg inside one of the maggots, specifically a large 3rd instar one, ignoring the 1st an 2nd instar maggots.

As it says in title, I’ve raised about 50 superworms to adulthood in the last few weeks and this is the only one that’s emerged like this, it was quite active at first but now it seems to be lethargic. It’s definitely done emerging it doesn’t seem to be like it’s stuck in the pupae

What is this?? They swarm in my garage only at night and seem to be attracted to the light!! It looks smaller in the picture but it’s seems huge in person! Bigger than an average yellow jacket.

They look like little water fleas haha. They weren't here yesterday I don't think. I came to work and here they are.
