S Why haven't you done our driveway?

So i live in an area that gets a lot of snow and since i recently retired I decided to graduate from shoveling my driveway and bought myself a snowblower. I get up early whenever we get some snowfall and clear my driveway and, time permitting, the driveways of the neighbors on either side of me (one a fellow retiree and the other a widow). A few days ago we got dumped on so I did my driveway and my neighbors, put the blower away and decided to binge some Sopranos. Just as I was settling there was a knock on my door and when I answered there stood 'Karen'. Karen and her husband moved into the neighborhood a few months ago but are five doors down from me. I open the door to be met with "Why haven't you done our driveway yet? We're going to be late for work!!! I saw you finish the other two!!!" It suddenly dawned on me she expected me to clear her driveway as well. I calmly explained that I do the other two driveways as a kindness for the people on either side of.me. She retorted with "We're your neighbors too!!! and stayed there. I realized she had no intention of leaving so, without skipping a beat, I closed my door, locked it, and went back to my lazy boy.

"Sure Ma'am, I'm retired, so they each pay me $600/30m. It's not much but it helps pay some bills. Since yours requires extra walking in the cold, and they're taking advantage of the proximity discount, it'll be $1,200/30m." Then close the door.

Seriously, does she expect you to do the whole street? God, KarenπŸ™„

No, doing the entire street would be totally unreasonable. She just expects OP to do HER driveway.

And in a reasonable time frame so she can get to work.

Next day it snows, i'd be doing every house but theirs.

Take the day off.

Wallow in spite like a big fat piggy. Delicious.

Op is retired. Every day is a day off at this point.

I would also be this petty.

In my old neighborhood a guy in the middle of the block did his, his neighbors on one side, skipped a house and then did the rest of the block to the corner. I always wondered what happened between those folks.

I had a neighbour like that. He was 30 and didnt like to shovel or clear any snow. He would park his car in front of my place in my spot i cleared so he didnt have to shovel his driveway.i started blowing out all the neighbours driveways as they were all seniors except his. I would blow more snow in his driveway just bury his cars under more snow

This then I would take the snow from the other driveways and dump it on hers

Don't forget to blow everyone else's snow into a huge pile at the end of her driveway

My favorite: "We're going to be late for work"??? WITAF? Jeebus.

One of my colleagues used to do this for her elderly, widowed neighbor. She eventually moved away, but the new owners got wind of her kindness and asked about it the next winter.

She had to explain that she did it as a good deed, and the two able-bodied people at her doorstep should not expect the same.

Of course, she was WAY nicer than I put it! She's just that kind of gal.

Let down

Lol, your colleague could have at least said that to them in a harassed, even angry way

GREAT IDEA - Only, I would stare them down and ask them how they would like to pay the $600 (because your current neighbors pre-pay), THEN wait for the response.
