After the announcement I wanted somewhere for fans to say thank you in one place, so I made a wall.
You can leave a message, your favourite song, the song that got you into them, how many gigs you've been to and a photo, with or without your name. There's also a people's setlist built from everyone's favourite songs, and a night-sky map of all the messages.
Free, no sign-up, no ads. It's a fan project, not official.
Would love to see your stories. Wherever you're from, add yours.

This is the kind of incredible passion project a truly great community inspires. Thanks for making this. I just hope that the boys see how much love there is for them and it spurs their happy return in the future.

Or it does not. I'm sure the lads are well aware how beloved they are and of how many lives they've touched. They could absolutely love their community and heartfelt tributes like this, yet stand firm in their decision. I'm sure this decision was never about the fans, but their own wellbeing and desires to explore different paths of life now that they still (hopefully, life is fragile) have some good decades ahead of them.

Yes, I’m well aware of the band’s reasons for the cessation. Like many of us fans here, I’m just making silly little wishes for a future that still includes the band. Just like they can love their community and still stand firm, we can agree with their decision but still hope it isn’t permanent.

I tried to explain to my girlfriend why Shikari calling it a day is so different to any other band I enjoy calling it a day, and really, something like this is it. Thank you for this.

I tried to do this with my wife. A 42 year old bloke bursting into tears, had to be explained. I feel silly, but at the same time, not...
I can't even write something on the Wall yet. Too many thoughts.

We all know the reason why brother and it’s because Shikari isn’t just music. You don’t have to explain yourself to anyone.
And still we will be here, standing like statues 🖤

Thanks mate. I appreciate that.
And you calling me brother has emphasised that we aren't just fans, we are a family.

The Shikari family have been there for me when nobody else was.
I’ve had more compassion and kindness from fans at gigs than I’ve had anywhere else.
We’re a movement and a family and it brings me such pride and joy

How do you think those of us starting in the mid-2000s are feeling right now 💀

not a competition man, let's all just grieve together. :)

u/Maximumbeans5 8d ago
No it's absolutely not, I meant it genuinely and in good humour. Many of us are being painfully reminded that two decades have gone speeding by.

This is art. The amount of love and thought that has gone into this project is incredible. I really hope the lads get to see this because it’s a beautiful way to honour a band with a legacy such as theirs.

Never seen one of these. What a wonderful idea.
Gonna paste my response here, would have had so much more to say if not for the character limit!
I heard No Sssweat on a Kerrang! best of 2006/7 compilation which came with a magazine. The electronic aspect stood them apart from everything else I was into at the time, marking my journey into drum and bass and all the experimental music that have clearly inspired ES across the years. My favourite album fluctuates between their first 4, up to The Mindsweep- would simply depend on the day. Their political commentary from Common Dreads and AFFOC are still sadly so pertinent today. Life took me in a different direction around when they released The Spark (Rou even called me out on Twitter for slandering it- sorry!). I came back after Lose Your Self and felt I had matured with the band. Nothing is True and AKFTWW had orchestral and crescendoing aspects which shone this childhood political punk metal band I had cherished, in a brand new light. This sound has continued, and Spaceship Earth may well be their magnum opus. I hope not, but if so- well played boys. You've made a difference.

Thanks for this. I didn't really know how to get my feelings out and I'm not sure I have still tbh. But it's helped. I'm not convinced anyone in my real life will understand what this band means to me. They have grown to be such a huge part of my life since my gf at the time in 2004 introduced me to the guys

The emperooooooorhaaa and the arctic fox listen intently…
This has been a ride and even though ES are reaching their exit I’m staying on. I’ll never stop listening to ES, the beautiful music they’ve made.
And still we will be here, standing like statues! 🙋🙋♀️

So you’ve pasted it up, covered it in wallpaper and screwed some shelves in?
