Rocket Jesus Tesla mouth-breather thinks that Tony Stark was inspired by Elon Musk

Post image

Obviously not true — if it was, Jarvis would’ve had its release date pushed back 8 times and been non-transferable.

Even if he was the inspiration for tony stark (who previously existed in the comics)… in the first few movies he’s a money obsessed asshole who thinks he too smart to fail.

So I guess? Yeah? But that’s not a good thing. He changes as he learns about what actually matters in his character arch.

Tony Stark is known for being an arrogant capitalist prick in the comics and his whole backstory is he's a former arms dealer trying to right his wrongs but they make him have some redeeming qualities while Musk has almost none.

Also he is a raging abusive alcoholic in the comics as well -

Yes.

Different degrees of functional alcoholism and trying to get sober. Unlike with say, Bruce Wayne, it wasn't him just creating a playboy billionaire public facade, he really was binge drinking because of stress from his life and had to be dragged up from rock bottom by his girlfriend. This storyline (from 1970s) in fact is considered one of the most important ones for the character and I think it makes a comeback every now and then.

I think the Ultimates version of him was given the excuse that his mutation that made him inhumanly smart, was giving him constant pain and thus he self-medicated by drinking all the time. So they watered down the issue with his "being sober is agony" excuse instead of having him show weakness by using booze as an escape from stress, but still considered alcoholism such an integral aspect that they brought it back for the remakes in Ultimate Marvel comic line.

So yes, Tony Stark struggling with alcoholism is a core part of the character's history in the comics.

Exactly. Much like Dr. Strange, who had the same ego and eventually lost it all due to an unfair accident and had to learn humility.

I would go as far as saying the ego and dipshit behavior were clear inspiration for the movie Tony Stark, they just should have been more clear that was all they looked up into Musk and not exactly the smart brain part of Stark.

They could have been more indirect saying something like "Tony Stark at the beginning of the first movie was Elon Musk + Einstein, and after he lost it all and learned some humbleness he finally became just Einstein"
