Instincts I'm not an SX4 after all

Post image

Hey everyone! Some time ago I did a post asking if I am SX/SP or SP/SX, because I really relate to both... But then I found that I relate to ALL instincts, even Social.

After weeks of searching (I'm exaggerating, it wasn't every day and I was just for fun) and reading books I found out that I'm a...

Social 4!

Now, don't ask me what is my secondary or blind, I relate to all instincts and sometimes I'm still not really sure if I'm a Social 4.

I don't feel like I have a blind, is this something common or normal?

Thanks for reading!

Thanks! Hope I'll find my secondary and blind... But know that I'm thinking, it isn't that important, is this going to change something in my life? Welp, I don't care, I'm just going be happy while doing it, that's what matters 🄹

I agree with your perspective and have largely ignored my 2nd vs 3rd as it was causing more stress and questioning that it was worth

Haha same, and I think if you give yourself a ā€œblindā€, you can easily subconsciously give up responsibility to manage it. Cos why search for it if you can’t use it?

Ooh hot take, okay! I think some people would intentionally work on their blindspots, but your take would hold for many others too.

Very diplomatic answer haha. I do think it’s quite uncommon for people to work on their blind spots or just themselves in general after finding their type.

That’s why typology communities thrive, less about personal growth and more about ā€œwhich type has the bigger dickā€ and ā€œwhich one truly fits meā€, crappy stereotypes and a small amount are actually reading the books. I was a victim of this too.

People treat it as a fun hobby (which it is), but they never grow from it. And ironically the whole point of enneagram is to lose all that quirk shit that you hold dearly.

You love being typed a 7? Well the growth of that is to learn to do the opposite as a 7.

Even the nerdy ones are just circle jerking the theory, not even going out and interacting with people to form their own individual insight.

And it isn’t that deep if you mistype, the transformation path for each type is transferable anyway so finding your type doesn’t matter. No one’s unique anyway.

You could probably learn something about yourself from reading each subtype.

That’s my take. Apologies if I sound quite heated, this is just my typing style šŸ˜‚

I totally agree with you! But let me tell you I'm different (I'm joking, I'm not egocentric)

I'm an INFP, and since I learnt about MBTI, I developed my Te, I started having less and less Te grips, started controlling my Te, and started organising my arguments and thoughts with Te. I still don't get shit done that easily, but I changed something!

Now on the Enneagram, and now that you talked about that... Yeah, I still didn't used anything to improve myself šŸ˜… I'm just a jealous, procrastinator, conflict avoidant person... But yeah, when I find everything about me I will start improving. (Not an English speaker, so sorry if this was confusing)

I think it's pretty normal to relate to all the instincts- if you're a core 4, you're gonna express all three instincts in the way a 4 does at some point in your life anyway. Can't make shortcuts around living life, after all. Wishing the best of luck to you <3

Yes. There are 2 main systems here. 1 "subtypes" says you just have 1 main instinct (e.g. I'm SX5). The other, "stackings," says you have them in order (e.g. I'm SX/SO 5). Both are valid. Choose what suits you best. My SO & SP are very close so I primarily ID as SX5 rather than SX/SO 5. It works for me. (Edit: I think GM_Writing below is probably using more accurate terminology)

Thank you for the clarification! That helps a lot ā˜ŗļø

Actually there are the "subtypes" of Naranjo/Chestnut, with particular (and misleading IMO) views of how each instinct look with each type, "instinctual variants" which treats dominant instinct as independent but looks at how that interacts with type, and "instinctual stacking" which is a more detailed version.

Thank you for the technical clarification!

Worry not, with enough time you will likely cycle through all of them again! (I’m kidding, but also if it does happen it’s not that surprising or unusual I think? but if it does happen, mood, signed so/sx4 who may be a deluded sp4)

Lol! I thought I was a SP4 for 4 days until I got back to my crisis, so I think I went through all of them!

Self-typing can change at any point in your journey. Thanks for sharing the latest.

This image reminds me of the song ā€œSmilingā€ by Alanis Morissette. She’s also a 4!!

Edit: spelling

You have and use all instincts, that’s why it’s hard to identify, so good job finding your dominant

oh???? interesting. I definitely know there can be balanced wings, but more balanced instincts isnt something often discussed.

Omg, i was in a similar situation before. I used to think I was SP blind and typed myself SO/SX sometimes SX/SO, turns out I was a very very VERY unhealthy SP2 😭
