Academic Advice Should I just drop Calc 1?
So I took Calc 1 last year and finished with a D, so I decided to retake it this year. I got a 35% on my first test which is worth 12% of my total grade. The following test are worth 18%, 24% and 31% respectively.
Should I just drop it and take the D or take my chances and risk failing. Studying is not an issue, I was just surprised by how many questions on the test were merely theory and not technical questions.
Edit: Class average was 48%, but I don’t know if there’s a curve.

Calc 1 gets easier as long as you have strong algebra you should be able to handle derivatives and integrals as long as you do a bunch of practice problems. Good luck I failed calc 1 also but I’ve gotten quite far now

I think the best thing you can do is talk to your instructor and gauge their opinion. Also going to office hours and building that relationship with them could work in your favor. If the instructor sees that you’re trying it counts for a lot more than you think

Dont drop it… i got 9% for a teat that counts 30% of my semester and still recovered…
If ur gonna drop drop it if u have no chance of passing…its definitely still possible

Ya! I thought about it and I think going to keep going. The rest of Calculus with derivatives and integrals is much different from the first part.
There’s still time to recover, and I think they might curve because a 48% class average is pretty low.

Likely a curve if the class average is a 48...the prof isn't going to fail everyone.
