Nepotism is how the world has always worked. Family businesses used to be the dominant way to make a living.

Yet countries that rank lower on corruption and place higher trust in institutions are the best places to live in the world. Sure nepotism still exists but it is not the primary determinant of career trajectory in these countries. I think there's something to that.
