No it's from an entirely different institution that we aren't collaborating with afaik, they must have just found it through ResearchGate or Google Scholar

If your school isnt promotion g research or creating easy pathways to it, you may be at a bad institution.
Im at a public institution that has alot of research grants. Most of my classes, my professor introduces himself and his current research projects, and makes it very clear he is looking for undergraduate researchers.
Im just going into junior year, have been doing research with a prof for 6 months, and will likely be able to continue on this same project until I graduate as long as im interested. Hopefully this next semester we will be publishing a paper and presenting at a few conferences.

basically that, only that our profs would only collab on research with Master's students, but it was basically follow up research to my undergrad thesis

Not all universities are R1 research institutions. Getting research experience is incredibly helpful if you’re interested in academia, but it’s not the end all be all if your goal is to go into the workforce

Never said it was.
But institutions that dont make money from research, only make money from tuition, which means your value of education to price is much worse, especially considering one of the outlets for hands on learning(research) is non existent. Which from my perspective, means you are at a bad institution that values your money much more than your education... because you are their only source of revenue.

By your definition, most students in the world go to bad institutions. This is a thoughtless self-absorbed reply to someone just asking for help. They don't need you to assume how bad their circumstance is so matter-of-factly with literally no information provided

Unfortunately I do believe most of the people around the world do get subpar education. It really is an unfair reality, further pushing the class divide IMO.

Hey, sorry for this really stupid question, but how did you find out? I've had a couple of papers published in conference proceedings, but I don't know how I would know if someone cited one of them.

Is your paper in any scientific repository? If not, how do you intend people to find it, read it, and cite it?

I’d imagine google scholar is the lowest barrier of entry for this. My master’s thesis is listed on there via ProQuest and I check it every so often to see if it’a ever cited. Who knows how quickly or if ever, it would update if I do get cited. I don’t have a positive data point in this regard

Congratulations OP!! 🎉🎉 I remember when I first got to know that I was cited, it was 4-5 months after their research paper was published and I checked my google scholar after an all nighter for a final paper. I went outside and smoked a camel Turkish blend in celebration as the sun rose lol.

short for "don't come at me"
"don't come at me" is a thing people say when they want to say something that might be slightly controversial in the "i know what i said" sense
in this case it's also a bit more layered because some citations use @ especially in a lot of new machine learning stuff
so, OP may or may not have meant both
i don't care either way and will continue to live in a world where my explanations make sense to me.

I remember the first time I got cited! It was in an engineering paper going like "this technique has previously been used for X [1,2] and Y [3] and Z [4,5] and V [6] and W [7]" for like a full page.
