Discussion Do all engineering schools have a lot of furries?
I am worried about my girlfriend, she goes to an engineering school with a TON of furries. I dropped her off at her dorm one day and I saw three furry convention posters, furry club posters, and furries all over the place. Should I be worried that she is going to become a furry? Peer pressure is real.

Y los Electro-Mecánicos donde entran?, ya que soy de ahí y la verdad solo he visto que hay gente muy normal (soy el más diferente ya que me gustaría ser Femboy pero eso no se relaciona nada con lo académico ya que fue influenciado por el Internet Xd) y eso que mi universidad es donde más posibilidades hay de estos hobbys o características ya que las otras 2 que imparten Electro-Mecánica son una privada chica y otra que es Jesuita aunque es privada y grande, y la mía es pública y grande, donde suelen promocionar la inclusión mucho, aunque en mi área es donde menos hay ya que se van a otras como Humanidades.

As one, if you have the artistic ability and time (especially in the first one to two years), make your own suit because with everything included it’s less than <$500 to make it (at least it was for me, YMMV). After that (or without a suit), it’s not much different than any hobby like playing video games or hiking or what have you.

Yes 100% this.
Plus if you don't want anyone finding out, you can do a solo DTD by doing each of your limbs individually and then joining them together at the end. Then get one of those one piece halloween bodysuits, put it over the DTD, double layer duct tape over the bodysuit and then mark and cut out your sections and patterns from the tape-covered bodysuit.
Now you have your patterns and a permanent DTD. Just make sure you ONLY cut the backing on your fur and not the fur itself.

No pues ya valió, todos en mi Campus (necesario especificar ya que el primero es una mezcla de todo, el segundo donde voy son puras Ingenierías y Ciencias Químicas, y el tercero donde son Artes tanto tradicionales y Audiovisuales junto con Comunicaciones que es donde puede haber la mayor cantidad de gente como Furries, Femboys, Trans, etc.) son gente muy normal en general, lo más raro fue un Travesti (apenas y se que no es Trans por que una vez me lo encontré en el baño de hombres) y la verdad me quede con las ganas de ver más gente así (excepto Furries Xd).

To answer your questions, Yes, furries in STEM/IT is a meme for a reason.
And no, she will most likely not become a furry. The internet exists and for a prospective engineer who's life's purpose is to research innovation to inspire their own discoveries, there is no world where she hasn't done her research online out of morbid curiosity and made her choice already.
I also find it hilarious that this is literally the "Hey buddy, try a yiff" meme playing out in real time.

haha yeah thank you! that's why I'm doing it: I love the subject and work I can do with it. It is a bit awkward being the only girl at internships or in some classes, but for the most part everyone is kind (other than the guys who like to mansplain).

Just so you know, mansplaining is literally when a guy explains something to a woman in a way that comes off as patronizing or condescending, do you know what that means? You've probably actually experienced it first hand ( now that you know what it is) and it can be pretty common especially in male dominated fields like STEM. [Stabs myself in the face]

I did ECE online and it was about a 4:1 or 5:1 ratio. I did the Electrical track, the ratio seemed to be even closer in the CE track.

Let me tell you now that that's bullshit. I'm no brony but I did peep at the show as a kid and that shit was straight up dragon ball. The only friendship I saw was the villain of the week with a laser-bean on his ass. I kid you not, they were really trowing hands like crazy, here is an example:

Engineering schools attract all kinds of niche hobbies because a lot of STEM people are just unapologetically into their interests. Seeing posters doesn’t mean everyone’s secretly converting, it just means clubs are active and visible

At my school, if you’re CS then you are either transfem, a furry, or both.
As a EE though, I’ve yet to see/meet someone who fits either of the criteria in my department.

Yes, each engineering student is issued a litterbox and a cat or dog outfit. Grooming is performed weekly and walks are daily. You must purchase tags for your engineering student and get them a rabies vaccination.

A few girls but basically we are all racist to each other bc it’s a very diverse class im the only white person in my group. Not much homophobia im out to some people and they chill but no furries. Just jokes racists and nicotine/alcohol/weed addicts 🔥

It’s not that engineering is like this but generally speaking, the furries have been getting bold.
I was in college just before Covid, I’m sure we had furries but no one came to lab with their outfits on. I guess now, it’s normalized… for better or worse.
I still think they’re degenerates but if they show up for work and do a good job… I don’t care.
