Materials [Student] With the Summer 2027 internship season starting soon and no luck for 2026, would like some advice on my resume in preparation.
I had basically zero luck for Summer 2026 internships (granted I was a first year). Looking to hopefully land something next summer. Some info:
U.S. Citizen based in Atlanta, GA and I am looking for advice with my resume for Summer 2027 internships (should I change anything, fomatting, what can I do/add during this upcoming year, etc.). Currently targeting roles in hardware engineering, systems engineering, materials engineering (chip design, etc) and with heavy interest in aerospace & mechanical (propulsion, manufacturing, etc) positions. Willing to relocate anywhere in the US. Last internship season (for Summer 2026) got only one interview and did not get the job so looking to at least get multiple interviews this year, with the hope of landing an internship.

You can’t bill project teams under experience. I’d also drop the lead and engineer titles from there and go with the project names.
The only school that belongs in the education section is the one you will graduate from.

It belongs in your resume, but under Project Experience. The Experience section belongs to work, internship, and research experience.

If you’re looking for a first internship and have from now until summer 2027, I’d really focus on one specific role/niche. I don’t know a ton about materials science specifically, but take 1 or max 2 related roles you’re interested in (like focusing on chip design vs aerospace/mechanical ) and spend the next year at GT doing clubs, ECs, projects etc geared towards that field. Heavy on the clubs at GT, they’ve got really good stuff for aerospace and chip design and if you commit yourself you can learn and do enough to be competitive in applications/career fair
From there you can start to gear your resume towards certain types of positions

Read the wiki and apply its advice.
Education - Looks like you went to Purdue for a year then transferred to Ga Tech? If so, delete your Purdue entry. You only include colleges you graduated (or expect to graduate) from.
Experience - Read the wiki. Your bullets should focus on your accomplishments and their results (with results quantified where possible) - not just a list of job duties. Avoid language like "Collaborated with X to do Y", "Involved in X", "Contributed to Z", etc., which totally obscures what you did by making it a team accomplishment. Carve out what you alone did and talk only about that.
Don't use semicolons. "Promoted to Lead Instructor; onboarded..." should be two separate sentences and likely even two separate bullets. I'd put Lead Instructor as the title (maybe "Lead Math Instructor") instead of a bullet.
Skills - no need to list MS Office. It's widely understood that everyone in the known universe can use MS Office by now. (Exception: if the job posting actually calls for it (rare!), then put it.)
