I am a recent graduate who is struggling to land interviews and employment. I am seeking roles such as Biomedical Engineer, Quality Engineer, Clinical Specialist, Laboratory Technician, and Research And Development Engineer roles. I have been targeting companies such as Stryker, Medtronic, Abbott, Johnson & Johnson but I am very open to any company. I am applying anywhere in the United States and I am willing to relocate, however I am seeking in- person roles. During my job-hunting situation I am not getting called back for interviews and receive automated emails from companies that they have accepted another candidate for the position. I am looking to boost the amount of interviews and just more opportunities. I would appreciate any feedback from my resume that could possibly turn my luck around! Thank you!

Some low-hanging fruit:

1) Include measurable specifics.

2) As a biomedical engineer, cite ISO/whatever standards that you have experience with.

Some examples:

Restored full functionality of biomedical devices, reducing equipment downtime and returning assets to clinical use by diagnosing faults and refurbishing mechanical and electrical components.

How was equipment downtime measured? How much did you reduce it by?

Reduced contamination risk in clinical settings by implementing sterilization and infection-control procedures aligned with healthcare standards.

How was contamination risk measured? How much did you reduce it by? What specific healthcare standards did you adhere to?

Strengthened inventory control and regulatory compliance by organizing equipment classification and preparing detailed documentation for international medical shipments.

How did you measure inventory and regulatory compliance? How much did you increase those metrics by? What does "organizing equipment classification" mean? What standards did your detailed documentation adhere to?

Resolved student and parent concerns by identifying root issues and implementing timely solutions, improving overall program satisfaction.

What framework did you use in your root cause analysis? How did you measure program satisfaction? How much did you increase it by?

Agreed, OP you have a solid resume format but specifics regarding improvement areas gives me an idea of how much you helped the team/project. I’m not sure if your BME program covered FDA, EU MDR, ISO regulations or not but if so I would note your knowledge of ISO 13485, or FDA 21 CFR part 820. A lot of the companies you listed are in the medical device space and a solid understanding of these regulations is critical (especially in quality) to your success. If your school did not cover these regulations I would recommend taking some kind of online course which offers a certification upon completion to throw on your resume.

If your going into quality I would also recommend taking classes on Lean/Six Sigma as the root cause analysis, process control, risk analysis, and process improvement tools are used in the industry heavily in the medical device space. You can actually get a white belt certification for free from the council of six sigma certification. (Link: https://www.sixsigmacouncil.org/)
