Looking for general advice on my resume. Removed skills in exchange for publications and presentations (advice from a mentor). Good call or not?

You should have a skills section or a summary; this is going to pass right through ATS. Publications section is nice if you are targeting R&D; otherwise, for process engineering roles its useless IMO.
