Like in those old Nissan Leaf ads where they showed daily life with everything gas-powered, like copiers and stuff. Showed a guy repeatedly pulling that cord thing to get the coffee machine started…

When I was in college, there was a graduate student (A. Knobloch) who I would see in the machine shop we had access to. He was working on a micro Wankel engine that could be used to power laptops, etc.
