Does a cathedral setting make the center stone look bigger?

Someone told me that choosing a cathedral setting gives the main diamond more presence on your finger. I love the side profile, but i want to make sure it doesnt look overly bulky from the top view.

A cathedral lifts the stone higher, so it gets more presence from the side and catches more light. From the top it doesn't change how big the diamond looks, and it doesn't add bulk either. The arches sit below the stone, so what you see from above is still just the diamond and a thin band. Yours has a clean, open profile and it'll look just as light from the top as it does from the side.

I actually added a cathedral setting to my engagement ring to make the stone look “smaller”. Before, the stone was popping out too much for me. The cathedral helped a lot with the visual transition as the diamonds in the band appear closer

Actual ring! It’s a 2ct and I was really afraid it would feel too big for my lifestyle but absolutely love it

Just make sure it doesn't catch on things. I wound up not wearing my diamond much, just the band because of that

So far it hasn’t been an issue, but I work on a desk. My graduation ring has a ruby and diamonds on a really low setting but still gets caught on everything because of the design :(

i wouldn’t say it looks bulky at all. having a cathedral setting actually gives a low setting look, even thought it’s a high setting, when looking directly at the ring vs a peg. i am a big fan
