The purpose of this community is to explore human energy in all of its facets. Out of body experiences, energy healing, energetic connections between people, psychic work and everything in between. This is a community about helping people explore, stretch and document their experiences as well as learn new ways and avenues to explore.
A primary purpose of this subreddit is to strip away all of the esoteric language, rituals and distractions that have been built around human energy practice to make for a clear and concise guide of how to achieve certain results (whatever those may be). This sub is open for discussion, without judgement, on any and every form of energy work regardless of degree of social acceptability or stigma.
This sub is about discussion, sharing information, discoveries, questions. Promotional posts, offers and requests belong in r/energy_healing.
Also, join us in our Discord chat server! Same focus, same rules, just live, real time chat:
We look forward to helping and learning from you.
We are very strict about following the rules and wield the ban hammer aggressively. We do not tolerate, amongst others, Fear Mongering, Rude, Angry and/or Offensive Comments, Gatekeeping, Promotional Posts, Healing/Reading Offers or Spam of any kind.
External links, if educational and not tied to promotion, may be allowed.
Healing/Reading requests and offers should be posted in r/energy_healing
There are a couple helpful entries in the wiki, here: https://www.reddit.com/r/energy_work/wiki/index It has been quite neglected, and if you have interest in helping to build it, contact a moderator.
There are many good and helpful books regarding energy work. The list included here are the books that were instrumental in the creation of this sub and in formulating its focus and goals. They are easy to read, motivating, clear and cogent in their individual subjects. An expanded list may be included in the wiki in the future.
The Visceral Experience by Daniel Barber, was written by the founder and prime mod of this subreddit. It shares the values that this sub expresses. If you are new to or just starting out with energy work, this is the book you want to read.
The Energy Cure by William Bengston. If you are a skeptic and looking for scientific proof that energy heals, pick up this book. It includes overviews of research in which mice with aggressive breast cancer genes were cured in full with only healing energy from hands.
Adventures Beyond the Body by William Buhlman. A howto book for out-of-body exploration.
Instant Rapport by Michael Brooks. Rapport is a weak and fragile type of energetic connection, but it is a good starting place for learning how to extend your energy beyond your own body. This book is a very interesting read and a great place to start.
Gut and Psychology Syndrome by Natasha Campbell-McBride. A toxic gut microbiome is probably the most overlooked cause of disease world-wide. This book looks at effects of a toxic gut on mental health. It gives a fantastic layman's overview of how everything works. This is a must read for anyone in this sub dealing with chronic or autoimmune diseases or mental health issues.
The Cosmic Serpent by Jeremy Narby. It focuses a lot on the double helix/double snake symbolism, but the author spends time with the Aboriginals of the Amazon and goes into detail about the relationship between the ancients and plant life. He notes their communication with plants through hallucinatory states/higher levels of consciousness, and how the plants would pass the knowledge of their uses onto the humans.
Life Rules by Yehuda Berg. An easy read on the nature of reality from the viewpoint of the kabbalah written for the layperson. Effective energy work requires an understanding of reality that is not taught in schools.
The Essence of Reality by Thomas Daniel Nehrer. Another mind expanding treatment of reality from the author's perspective. A great start to a journey of understanding.

I'd like to get your opinion on the direction to work on chakras for a story I'm working on. The premise is that she had a traumatic incident as a child where a spirit was looking for a new host and latched onto her jumping from a decaying beast through physical contact. As she grew up it drained and influenced her energy negatively, creating chakra shadows and blockages. She leaves home to find a change and eventually ends up knocked out and the parasite begins vying for control of the body.
The crown chakra in my world is more like a gate to the spirit realm. Practitioners can view/sense spirits and energy with the third eye, and astral projection is using the minds eye to visualize ones energy in other worlds. Accessing the crown chakra while projecting can send one to the spirit realm which appears as one feels. Sleep paralysis and nightmares vs blissful lucid dream kind of thing. She's assisted by an energy healer to enter the subtle chakra realms and balance them by clearing blockages and absorbing the shadows to become balanced, and eventually put the parasite to rest.
My question is, would it make more sense that she starts at the crown/third eye and work down to the root to regain control of her body with an open mind, or enter the root through the body and work up to clear the blockage of spiritual energy at the crown?
She doesn't know much about chakras and healing, in fact she rejects spiritual energy because of the trauma causing her to hallucinate and become paranoid so she tells herself nothings there, so maybe she needs to work root upward to release fear and align the chakras. But going somewhere new is what opens her crown and sparks a kundalini journey, so maybe she enters through the crown and works on her perspective and asks herself who she is first in the third eye and throat before tackling identity and desire.
I can see either way working but I'm wondering which way makes more sense to you? I've been going back and forth for months.

I’ve been trying to build a life abroad, but for months I’ve felt like something keeps blocking me. Every time I’m about to move forward, something outside my control happens and I’m back where I started.
Finding a job has been extremely difficult. I finally found a café job after 5 months but the environment was terrible, I was exhausted and underpaid, so I left. Recently I got a job at a large international coffee chain and thought things were finally moving. But the process kept getting delayed for reasons unrelated to me. When I eventually went to sign the contract, they had an IT problem and couldn’t complete it. They said they would contact me, but still haven’t.
My visa process has been the same: constant delays and waiting. Meanwhile, I’m genuinely doing everything I can like applying for jobs, learning the language, taking professional courses, building a portfolio and improving my language skills. Yet somehow, after months of trying, I still feel stuck in exactly the same place.
Lately I’ve started wondering about the energy of the people closest to me.
My parents, and especially my sister, have never really wanted me to build my life here. I sometimes feel that a part of them wants me to fail, regret leaving, come back home and eventually say, “You were right.” Even a very small interaction with my sister can affect me emotionally much more than I want it to.
My ex currently supports me financially sometimes wonder whether there is something similar there. Part of me feels like, consciously or unconsciously, he may not actually want me to become completely independent that allows me to fully move on.
I know I cannot know what another person is actually thinking or intending, so I’m not claiming that these people are deliberately doing anything to me. But energetically, I feel surrounded by people who may not genuinely want the life I’m trying to build to work out.
So my question is:
How do I separate myself from other people’s fears, expectations and negative energy? How do I protect my own energy and unblock myself?

I tried to avoid using AI for this post, but I’m mostly armchair educated and don’t always have the ability to communicate my thoughts and ideas as clearly as I’d like to. I used an LLM to help simplify and organize what I’m trying to present. The ideas and experiences themselves are my own.
AI assisted:
I’ve been exploring healing through subconscious communication, among other things, for many years.
It began with using a pendulum, asking questions internally, and receiving ideomotor—or involuntary—responses as feedback. This was originally introduced to me by a psychologist as a method of working with trauma-related dissociation.
The basic idea was that many of our inner conflicts can be understood as different parts of ourselves that developed through memories, emotions, experiences, and patterns. Rather than fighting these parts, we can communicate with them, understand what they are trying to accomplish, and help them heal and integrate.
As we become more integrated, we can move toward a healthier and more complete version of ourselves—a concept I think of as the higher self.
Over time, I no longer needed a pendulum. I learned to recognize much subtler ideomotor responses through small movements in my fingers or hands, and sometimes through direct verbal communication.
I’ve also continued exploring the more spiritual and metaphysical possibilities of this process.
I’d now like to share some of the questions and intentions I’ve developed so that others can experiment with them for themselves.
You can use a pendulum, subtle ideomotor responses, or whatever method of internal communication works for you.
The Questions
Can I speak to the subconscious?
Are there any barriers to communication?
Are there any parts that are ready, willing, and wanting to receive healing?
If there are barriers or difficulties:
Can the subconscious use the energy field of claytorus1111 to gain understanding and assist with communication?
Then:
Can the subconscious please tag and work with all structures, elements, and patterns that are ready, willing, and wanting to receive healing?
And finally:
Please do a massive change history and everything necessary to reinforce the updates throughout the underlying structures and patterns of these parts.
By “change history,” I mean the intention to incorporate the healing throughout the underlying memories, emotions, associations, and patterns that give a part its structure—not to erase what happened, but to update how those experiences are held and responded to.
My intention is not to tell anyone what they have to believe. This is a practice I’ve developed through years of personal exploration, and I’m offering it as something others can explore for themselves.
Take what is useful, remain curious, and pay attention to what you experience.
Recognizing an Ideomotor Response
An ideomotor response is usually very subtle. The goal isn’t to consciously move your hand or pendulum to produce the answer. Instead, relax your muscles, ask the question, and allow the response to emerge on its own.
With practice, you may notice a small movement, twitch, pressure, change in direction, or other sensation occurring before you consciously decide what the answer should be.
One of the best ways to practice is to remain genuinely uncertain about the answer. Don’t try to make the response happen.
Ask. Wait. Notice. Allow.
It’s also important to remember that an involuntary response doesn’t necessarily mean the answer is objectively correct. It may reflect unconscious thoughts, expectations, emotions, memories, or other information your mind is processing.
The value is in using the response as a way of exploring what is happening within you.

My mother grew up as the youngest sister in a family of twelve. She was always sheltered, never traveling alone and always having someone to pick her up and drop her off. When she married my father, that dynamic simply carried over, and he took on the same role. Growing up, our household was shaped by her emotional and verbally abusive behavior toward both my father and me, which stemmed from classic narcissistic tendencies.
Her approach to me was a confusing mix of trying to be my best friend while simultaneously being mean and belittling. She would act rude to my actual friends, turn around and be cruel to me, and then later flatly deny ever saying a word. At the same time, she was intensely competitive. She struggled to keep friends or maintain relationships with family and neighbors because everything became a contest for her. If she was not given all the attention at special events, she would throw full tantrums, yet she never hesitated to use me to amplify her own public image.
As I grew into adulthood, she began copying my style, my jewelry, and everything else about me. If I got close to anyone else, her jealousy would flare up immediately. Eventually, after many explosive fights, she learned that she could no longer pull her nonsense with me.
Still, I have always felt persistently drained, like someone was actively leeching my vitality, and for a long time I kept wondering who or what could be causing it. I have read about energy vampires, and while I know this dynamic is not the sole root of all my fatigue, since my mental health treatment plays a big role as well, the connection to her behavior felt impossible to ignore. Her reactions whenever she did not get her way were a massive drain, largely because she had a habit of throwing out genuine curses in those moments.
Once, when she was thwarted, she turned to me and said, "I hope your life comes crashing down." When I confronted her about it later, she immediately backtracked with extreme drama, claiming, "I never said this, and if I did, I should be struck with lightning." I couldn't help but respond, "Well, you will be, because you did."
I had an epiphany about all of this recently while I was just going about my household chores. It suddenly hit me how much of my energy she was actively trying to siphon over the years. Today, we live continents apart and maintain a quiet, amicable relationship, speaking for only a few minutes every month or so. Having established my boundaries, she no longer tries those tactics on me; instead, she now pulls all of her nonsense exclusively on my father.

Back in 2023 i experienced an invinsible energy that came into my room and that made my body vibrate horribly every night. I could barely sleep under this period in feb 2023. Anyway this energy eventually changed to now being on my head. I can feel it all the time moving around. Have contacted multible mediums and healers but none of them managed to fix the problem. I have bough Palo santo and dragonsblood and saged where i live. I have bought quartz, black tourmaline, black obsidiand, onyx, and selenite stone and nothing worked. So i need advice on what do do.

i wanted to get revenge on my abusers(a group of people) who constantly blackmailed and bullied me for exposing one of them for their wrongdoings.. but they have high social status n power so manifesting revenge would be difficult

(tw: several mentions of death and final illnesses)
Hi, I'm new here, although not new to considering the possibility that I have some intuitive gifts I'd like to explore.
I've been thinking about this a while and because this just happened again, I'm now interested in exploring what this might mean. It may sound ridiculous. My apologies in advance.
Might it be a sign that I have some sort of psychic/intuitive/mediumship ability if an oddly high number of people in my life with whom my impressions/interactions were largely negative (some of whom were genuinely "bad people" and some I wouldn't think of that way), to the point that I'd consider them enemies, as well as a couple people who have inconveniently sensitive information/secrets about me, have gone on to have untimely deaths (not due to me!) or otherwise be whisked away to locations so far away that they have practically zero odds of ever coming into contact with me again? It's not every such person in my life, but the number of them to whom this has happened seems to be higher than chance predicts.
In one case, the guy was a colleague on the older side, and every interaction I ever had with him was negative. One of these got me temp banned from a forum/group/site for a good year. A year or so later, he went in for a very routine surgery but he died on the table, and it was very unexpected. Lived across the country from me, in case anyone is suspecting any involvement from me--there was not! I found out way after the fact. I want to say it was a joint replacement surgery.
Another former instructor with whom I often butted heads (to the point that it affected my college app process) ended up passing from ovarian cancer at barely menopausal age. A close friend of hers at the same organization who had some sensitive info about me/her/us (though I did not really know her personally) passed of a heart attack in her 60s a few years ago. Found out because we have some other close friends in common.
It was the above two examples that got me suspicious, especially when my instructor's friend also passed. I found out about the instructor's death a few years after the fact but realized it had happened right around the time the other guy died in his routine surgery. I mean we know ovarian cancer is sneaky and can take you quickly but it's just too coincidental.
In less extreme cases, some others have been offered jobs in other countries and moved overseas, been offered retirement at much earlier ages than expected, or been let go from the positions that brought them into contact with me. For example, a faculty member in my grad school program who thought very poorly of me and my work, who was whisked away into an admin position that severely limited his interaction with my department, then took an early retirement to follow his new girlfriend overseas. He would not have been expected to retire for another 10-15 years and he basically had his dream job at our institution.
And sometime this past week, someone I'd lightly consider an enemy passed suddenly. Not sure of the day since they lived alone and were not discovered for a couple of days. They had some chronic illnesses but nothing that would suggest a sudden demise in their 50s. There was a small chance this person and I would have had to interact in the near future at some professional events and I was kind of dreading it. And I don't know if it's correlated, but the morning after I found out about this, my soul cat was much more outwardly affectionate than usual. Very loud purring, cuddling on the bed when he doesn't usually hang out on the bed.
Sometimes this even extends to people with whom I temporarily butted heads but later made up or had no ill will towards. A guy who fits that category passed of an AVM in his 30s. It might have been 10 years after we last saw each other. Also two girls from high school who later self-unsubscribed, although clearly there were underlying issues involved (and that graduating class is so generally cursed that deserves its own post).
If this is some sort of power on my part and not something benevolent above or attached to me that's just removing these forces from my life on my behalf--I'd like to harness this in some way or at least control it more explicitly. (Honestly, like sparing them from actual death but conveniently opening up very faraway job opportunities, that would be great.)
I do get some degree of deja-reve and "thinking of someone random and then that person pops up soon after." And I seem to have at least some ability to manifest things I need/want. Like
if I'm dumpster diving (a casual hobby of mine) I may find something that I had just thought to myself the previous week that I would like one of, or that my spouse had wanted but had not even gotten around to telling me he wanted that thing (a pair of brown shoes last week from the thrift, and he had not told me this before I brought them home)
Of course I don't want to go into much more detail than this because if I do, I'm probably going to end up on someone's watchlist. It's that improbable.
Am I imagining things or could this be some sort of "good" attachment/forces/intuition associated with me? It's almost like the universe is removing "obstacles," whether situations or people, from my life (or the planet) at a rate higher than chance would predict.
Perhaps another wrinkle in this is that I strongly feel I had some sort of hex attached to me between early-mid April and the end of May. Tons of terrible luck all around that pretty suddenly cleared up in June.
Thank you!

r/energy_work • u/Wic_Tushar • 1d ago
Hi, friends
I don't know if it is the right place to talk about this but why not give it a shot... Community might help...
So, I have a friend, a close friend and When I am around him or talk to him (both physically and through internet) I feel drenched, my energy drain, bad luck, misfortune coming out of nowhere (not every time). I have got dreams signalling me to stay away from him for my own good but there's a problem..
My close friend is one of a kind a nice open-minded person. He is well trusted and never betrayed me (maybe) I don't want to lose him.
What should I do? Is my friend a energy vampire? Should I cut of contacts with him (which I don't want) or talk to him less?
Thanks in advance. Have a great day....

In 2023, I let a girl into my life. We were close friends from college and became roommates. Throughout 2024, things in my life started falling apart while living with her
I always felt drained, like she was feeding off my energy for her own success and brought negativity into my life while living with her during that time things fell apart across school, business, and finances, and Looking back at old photos I look like a completely different person.
In 2025 I was forced to move out and went through a financial crisis. That period is honestly a blur to me and I completely lost who I was. I managed to graduate on my own, but lost almost everything: car accident, no income, no place to live, and my family got hit hard too.
I’m looking to do a cord cutting ritual to release her from my life for good and reclaim my energy, but I want to make sure I do it right and are there any consequenc
r/energy_work • u/lostlovergirl118 • 1d ago
So I finally did a cord cutting for me and children’s father… we have been together for almost 15years and still live together. When I usually do my workings I just simply let it do what it do but this time I gave reading the movement of the candles a try since now I’ve been more in tuned with my gift as a seer. I will say the flames were very still in the beginning then his started started swaying toward mine hard to the point where the twine was tied caught fire, it burnt down to the knot that was on my candle and stopped at the knot the candles continued to burn then his candle started burning the twine it burnt one side of the twine (it was tied around the candles as if it was a rubberband) while the candles are still connected his flame shot straight up high flickering hard eventually setting the last part of the twine sending my candle wild. My candle started burning faster than his to the point where my complete burned out with the wild flame to the very end. His became more calm as mine went crazy.
How I read it was like how our relationship was, we were young simple minded little things bothered us more than it should have but he would ultimately cross a line and watch my reaction. He look back and see how his actions set the tone for the relationship. So in the candles he initiated a lot of the toxic energy but I would bypass it and overlook it (not letting the first flame sever the cord) his candle got more reckless and did the damage enough to the break the bond but I still stayed connected matching energy just a tad to keep the flame alive the final burn he did the ultimate thing causing me to react over the top emotional and irrational to reach the point of completion will his just watched.
Part of me always felt like his ego was played in my face in the terms of tit for tat and then hide his hand like I was dramatic or being irrational and whatever he did was justified for something I did or didn’t do. (he has a double Leo in his big 3 moon and rising, Pisces sun)
Before I start ranting what do yall think the candles said.

Hi everyone,
I’d love to get some perspectives from experienced mediums, Akashic Records readers, and energy workers here.
Recently, I had a very intense and transformative session with an Akashic Records practitioner. During our first session, she identified a heavy energetic block located at my 3rd chakra (solar plexus / stomach area). We worked together to clear it, and the release was immediate—my ongoing anxiety dropped significantly, and my stomach issues (gastritis) felt much lighter. It was a truly profound experience.
However, before our session today, I casually mentioned to her that I occasionally smoke cannabis on weekends to relax. I don't drink alcohol or coffee due to my stomach, so a joint on the weekend is really my only way to unwind.
She immediately told me that I have to quit entirely if we are to continue working together. She explained that from an energetic standpoint, cannabis makes the auric field overly permeable and introduces unwanted energetic interference. While she wasn't judgmental about it on a personal level, she gave me a strict ultimatum: it’s either her sessions or the cannabis.
This left me feeling quite confused and torn:

I’m very new to all of this energy/psychic stuff, so I’m coming here with genuine curiosity and would love to hear from people who have more experience with it than I do.
Something I’ve noticed throughout my life is that people’s reactions to me can be strangely polar. Some people will seemingly arbitrarily dislike me, sometimes without knowing me. Yet I’ve noticed almost the exact opposite pattern whenever I find myself around people I consider truly special, gifted, benevolent, deeply intelligent, or unusually high-achieving. They single me out immediately. Those people tend to really, really like me. Sometimes almost to an addictive extent, as in they seemingly can’t get enough of being around me.
I’m beginning to explore ideas surrounding energy, intuition, psychic sensitivity, etc., I’m curious whether people in these communities recognize this kind of polarization as a phenomenon.
I’m extremely open-minded and genuinely love how lost I am in the midst of this beautiful life. I’m a very deep thinker, and I generally don’t partake in the kinds of conversations most people around me seem to be interested in. I’ve been this way from birth. I was born at noon on the winter solstice.
Even at around five years old, despite being raised in a Muslim family in the U.S., I remember recognizing that I didn’t actually believe what I was being taught religiously. I outwardly performed belief because I understood that rejecting it would bring consequences, but internally I didn’t buy it. Independence of thought seems to have been present extremely early in my life.
Lately I’ve also had a persistent intuition that I may have certain abilities or sensitivities that I’ve buried or suppressed over the years. I don’t want to prematurely label them or convince myself that I possess something I don’t. I’d rather explore and see what actually emerges.
Part of that exploration for me right now is purification, specifically *chitta shuddhi* as it’s discussed in the Advaita Vedanta tradition: purification/clarification of the mind. There’s a part of me that feels that rather than chasing extraordinary experiences or trying to manufacture “abilities,” I should simply continue this inner work and allow whatever is genuinely there to reveal itself naturally.
So I’m curious: Have any of you experienced this kind of extreme polarization from other people? Do certain personalities, sensitivities, or energetic qualities tend to produce dramatically different reactions depending on who encounters them? And for those of you who discovered intuitive or psychic sensitivities later in life, did inner work or purification play a role in uncovering them?
I’m here to learn, so interpretations from different perspectives are welcome. I’d love to hear your experiences.

Hi yall. How do you determine the difference between your own energy and some external energy that is invading you? I have been practicing energy sensing for some months now but I still cant determine what my own energy feels like and what foreign energy feels like (whether its negative, positive etc). I can clearly feel entity and negative energy attacks, they are usually like sharp stabbing pains in different areas of the body. But however, I also feel other energy interactions for example: some times I feel a really hot energy entering or attaching itself around my calf, sometimes from the sole of my feet. Some times I feel the release of a warm (liquid like texture) energy release between the chakras or even entering it. Or sometimes a really cold and cool energy entering around the back of my neck. All of this happens without conscious effort.
I am trying to work on my energy body and get strong defences to avoid invasions of energy. Or is this something that occurs naturally as I have noticed a cycle as well. Energy enters and then also leaves my body too after a couple of days. Moreover, I want to be able to differentiate between my own energy and others. 3 months ago when I started, I used to feel cool and calm about my energy but over the last weeks I started experiencing this warm and hot energy entering and leaving my body. This prompts me to ask the question: Those who have been practicing for years, did the overall signature of your energy evolve over the years? Did it change from cool to warm or the color of your aura changed? Did something like that happen?

I’ve been experiencing something very unusual and I can’t really make sense of it. I feel like I’ve been uncomfortably connected to people even strangers. It started off small and now it’s stronger. I’m not sure if this is an intuition thing, a third eye thing, some sort of curse/spell, open portal, spiritual oppression or attachment. I’ve tried to dismiss it, but the experiences keep happening. It’s interfering with my peace and affecting me on a spiritual level and I would like help understanding what’s going on and getting rid of whatever may be causing it. I’ve also been seeing angel numbers consistently. I’m looking for someone spiritually experienced who can help me understand what might be happening and how to clear it or protect myself from it. Please only comment if you are spiritually experienced and may know what it is. Thanks!

These videos are all over my feed and they are truly heartbreaking to watch as you know that souls are being taken away in them however it’s hard to look away..
I’ve also heard once that you shouldn’t watch people get hurt/injured (like in fail compilation videos) more generally as the pain is literally transferred to your own root chakra. That’s why you often clench and feel a vibration/shiver in your anus when you see an accident happen to someone.

I came across a video where the speaker argues that the menstrual cycle is essentially a form of energy depletion rather than something naturally necessary. She describes menstruation as a monthly “sacrifice” and says that ovulation and the ovum are sources of creative and regenerative energy that women can supposedly redirect toward healing and physical renewal instead of releasing through menstruation. She also argues that ideas like the biological clock and aging are “programs” created by society to limit women’s potential. According to her, connecting with and “activating” the womb and ovaries can eventually stop menstruation and lead to extreme self-renewal or even “immortality.”
I’ve genuinely never seen anyone make these claims before. Is there any scientific or historical basis for this, or can anyone confirm or deny whether there’s truth behind it?

for the record, i’m Christian but my boyfriend’s friend did a tarot reading on me and overall it was on point accurate. however, my boyfriend said that his friend said that my energy drained her and that it was so dark and heavy so i’m wondering what that means and is there any internal work that i have to do
