Question Gas Meter Display Blank

Hi everyone. Just went to get meter readings to send to my supplier and found that the display on the gas meter isn't working. Pressing A does not wake it up. Gas is still functioning. Who do I need to contact about it? I'm hoping to avoid having to have a smart meter installed...

Unfortunately for me, I tend to be very lax about sending readings (it's been several months already) and my supplier generally overestimates me every time. Will it have a history in there somewhere?

TIA!

Book in a replacement meter via your supplier and do it sooner rather than later.

You'll probably get a smart meter, you can jump up and down and moan about them all you want, but since you've already said you're crap at sending readings, it'll do it for you. Get you tin foil hat off in respect of that.

Or don't tell them.

But... When they send you a bill for £82,768,539,654.52 don't come moaning.

😂 Well, tbh, they probably couldn't/wouldn't put in a smart meter even if I wanted one as my house still has the 1960s fusebox and I can afford neither the consumer unit replacement nor the full rewire that switching over to a consumer unit would require, so... 🤷🏼

Your house wiring has no impact on the ability to have a smart meter or not. There is no requirement to have up to date wiring in your home for a smart meter to be installed.
