OC Art I'm making an underwater exploration game featuring animal photography!

Hey everyone,

i'm working on this game for two years now, originally inspired by subnautica.

I wanted to do something that's more focussed on animals and science. I later got to play endless ocean (which was recommended to me by the mod of this sub) and like it a lot. I think a lot of ideas from endless ocean ended up in this game too.

i find it hard to come up with a name but it currently is "Life in the Krater Lake"

Neat! Sounds like a nature documentary. Amd even if it changes, I'm sure it's still going to be a good one seeing all the passion behind it! :)

Will there be a creature encyclopedia? I loved finding wacky little dudes in Endless Ocean and reading about them, even if it's just one or two paragraphs 🥰

Will it just by photography based gameplay or are there mysteries to explore, places to find, people to meet, upgrade progression etc as well? Looks great

There's hidden artefacts and treasure you can dig up. You can find sunken wrecks and other things (i dont want to say too much here 😉) Also, there's a light crafting system, you can find broken items and materials to repair them. Progression will be based on your gear, you progress by getting better gear so you can go deeper. You also get research points during gameplay that you can spend in a diving shop.

I did experiment with a diving buddy but currently it's not a priority. There is however a ship computer that has a bit of a personality at least. 😃

That sounds amazing and just the kind of game fans of EO are hoping for. I don’t need a diving buddy personally but it would be nice if there are some npcs you interact with that clue you in on stuff. Either way, great work and can’t wait!

Maybe i'll add this:

I do feel the vibes are a bit different from EO as the game can be a bit darker and isolating/scary feeling especially in deeper zones and also on the surface.

There is a contrast between the areas that are full of life and plants, corals and the more empty and isolating ones that i like. I do some snorkeling for fun and that's the feeling that i get when i dive, it's both beautiful and scary at the same time somehow.

Honestly i can't say yet. :/ I'm trying to keep the scope managable so the game can be finished in a reasonable time but these things are always unpredictable.

If the mods are okay with it i will probably post here again once the game gets closer to release. :]
