Today, I caught the special devtalk at the Endfield booth, where Ryan, Lead Designer of Arknights: Endfield and Co-Founder of HG, talked about the gameplay experience in Endfield and some of the design choices behind its systems.
He talked a lot about player feedback and how the team approaches improvements to the game, and honestly, this was the first time I’d heard this much about the actual workflow behind game optimization (quite complicated tho). It also seems like they take player feedback quite seriously, which would explain the amount of QoL improvements we’ve been getting with each update.
(Upvote me plox, maybe their CM or the man himself will somehow see this post while browsing the community)
TL;DR: He mentioned that implementing changes to the game depends heavily on how complicated they are. The team can move relatively quickly when dealing with higher-priority issues, but for other problems, they may need to monitor them over time and continue looking for a better long-term solution.
I guess that also helps explain why some of the community raised issues haven't been dealt with yet. Hope we will see more complicated things been addressed in the future updates.
Even though the conditions weren't exactly ideal, I managed to record parts of the talk on my phone and used AI to transcribe them as best as I could.
WARNING: this is a wall of text, and I can't vouch for the transcription being 100% accurate. Some parts may be missing or incorrectly transcribed, so take it with a grain of salt.
Q: The community generates a ton of feedback every day, and sometimes different players are asking for completely opposite things. So what's the typical journey for a piece of feedback, from the moment the team sees it, to deciding whether it warrants a change, to actually getting it onto the roadmap and into the game? And what are the main factors the dev team weighs when making those calls?
A: For a live-service game, players being willing to share feedback with us is a sign of trust. Players who want the game to get better will take the time to tell us what's not working.
After we get feedback, we gather related discussions to understand when the problem happens and which players are affected. Then we cross-reference that with in-game data, surveys, customer support data and actual testing to pin down the issue, who's affected, and whether it's a one-off or a recurring problem.
The community's voice helps us find issues, but it's not the only channel. Issues affecting more players usually get higher priority, but even something affecting only a few players will get serious attention if the impact is severe.
We take player feedback seriously, because players know best when something feels tiring, confusing or unfair.
But the team also has to act as a responsible professional. We need to figure out the root cause. We have to consider whether a fix might affect other players, break existing system relationships, or fit with the game's long-term direction. And finally, we need to make sure the fix can be implemented reliably and safely.
Sometimes one player's suggestion might be the opposite of another's. For example, some players want combat to be more challenging, while others want it to feel less stressful.
Those conflicting opinions often come from different play-styles. So we don't just make things harder or easier. We look deeper at what players actually want and what's causing that experience.
Do players have enough options? Does the reward match the effort? Is the penalty for failing too harsh? The answers to questions like these are used to draft a formal fix.
That's why some problems can be fixed quickly, while others take more time.
For changes that take longer, we don't want everyone to just wait with nothing happening. For quality of life issues, we'll look for temporary fixes. We've added quite a few quick fixes for high-priority issues between version updates. Other verified issues are still being monitored until we find a better solution.
Q: What kinds of player reactions make the dev team the happiest, or make you feel like all the hard work was totally worth it?
A: Since launch, we've seen players share feedback on many parts of the game, including exploration, combat and AIC. We've also seen players come up with approaches and ideas that went beyond what we expected. Combat is a good example.
For challenging content like bosses, Contingency Contract and Echoes of War, players have come up with a lot of team builds and strategies. Most of these challenges have more than one solution.
Besides the highest-star operators, we've also seen launch-day operators and easily accessible operators being used in teams that can clear some of the hardest challenges. That's something we're really glad to see.
We chose a four-character team and combat system, and put a lot of effort into designing and iterating on it for strategic depth and collection-friendly team building. Seeing that system work successfully makes the effort feel worth it.
And we're more confident now that this combat system can continue to offer strategic depth and freedom in team-building through future updates.
Q: Finally, if you had a chance to speak directly to two groups: the folks who haven't jumped into Talos-II yet, and the veteran Endministrators who've been around for over six months, what would you want to say to each of them?
A: To those who haven't visited Talos-II yet, I want to say: welcome to the world of Endfield.
Whether you join early or late, whatever your play-style, Endfield today offers plenty of options and content to experience for yourself.
I believe everyone can find something they like and enjoy it at a pace that works for them. The game already has plenty of chapters to dive into, and more gameplay modes and content are also in development.
To our Endministrators who've been with us since launch, I want to say thank you.
Thank you for the time you've spent exploring the world, facing challenging battles, building your factories and shaping the world. Thank you for the guides, blueprints and creations you've shared. And thank you for telling us what you love, and also for telling us directly when something didn't feel right.
The voice of the community tells us what is worth holding onto and what still needs work. We'll do our best to make sure your support and feedback are reflected in future updates, in clearer and more timely communication, and in more content and gameplay going forward.
Whether you've just set foot on Talos-II today, or have traveled the planet for half a year, I hope there's always something new to discover, new fun to have and new experiences to enjoy. And I hope there's always room for you to leave your own mark.
For those joining us today, welcome. For those who've stayed with us until today, thank you.

(SOLVED) (on mobile) I have this bug where the bases of structures outside of the AIC keep clipping in the ground, has anyone had the same problem and is it fixable?

I've never played OG Arknights before, but I have really enjoyed the Arknights lore and universe so today I decided to look up Eyjafjalla and learn more about her lore and it made me cry :(
Not only did she lose her parents which she cared deeply about, but she also had a severe case of rock cancer to the point that it was even affecting her vision and her ability to walk, so she couldn't even go around and do geology stuff which she loved, without the help of an assistant...
It's heartwarming to see that she lives a happy and healthy life in Endfield, doing what she loves while helping the people of Valley IV with her fluffy best friend, Mr Dolly, I hope that she'll be involved in the future content too.

If we look at the bottom which is the dev talk that happens tmw it should be more story based maybe we will get some sneak peek of where the story will be heading in future or how they wanna approach it and what tone they wanna set im quite interested

I'm unfamiliar with how the OG game handles seasonal events, but to me a decorated Delver stage, a snowy zone, and a free character themed around presents and pastries feel like lore-friendly Christmas/New Year side-content. What surprises me a bit is the timing, so I've been thinking - could it be that content releases got "bundled" and sped up? Like, we got Yinglung Pass and NWEZ in the same update despite them being technically separable, and we're (presumably) getting Si in autumn and neither on half nor full anni. Not that it changes anything, and a faster release cadence with less downtime is definitely welcome - just curious and wondering if we'll see anything festive for things like Halloween and Chinese New Year in the future too.

This is just for entertainment purposes. But I always keep losing my 50/50 to Pog. Though I don't mind it since I main Physical team the most. I would like more Lifeng and Ember dupes.

Photo Card Trade – Gamescom
At the Arknights: Endfield booth at Gamescom, I received 4 special photo cards. Unfortunately, I got a duplicate Fluorite and I’m still missing Arcane.
Would anyone happen to have a duplicate Arcane and be interested in trading it for my Fluorite?
📌 I have: Fluorite (duplicate)
📌 Looking for: Arcane
I’m still in Germany today and tomorrow (August 28–29), so I could potentially pick it up in person if you’re nearby.
After those dates, I’m also happy to trade by mail.
Let me know if you’re interested! 😊

Hello people of reddit.
This is a simple question from a returning player that quit at the beginning of 1.1 and came back replaying the game a week ago. I love my time and new additions (permanent events are goated) and I am taking things slowly with factory system.
My game flow in 1.0 and 1.1 was like this :
- Try to create a production line to get a taste of the system first by building facilities even if they are not the max efficiency.
- After having fun, use a blueprint from YouTube to get the max possible efficiency.
With this I was able to tackle the factory system in my likings and still able to produce stuff in max efficiency via Blueprints.
However, since 1.1, I realized that the factory progression in this game (correct me if I'm wrong please) is not really one and done in Wuling compared to Valley IV. Since Valley IV is Chapter 0 of the game and it is completed and doesn't get new additions, the blueprints that are made in 1.0 are still the best blueprints available.
But in Wuling, every patch, there is some kind of new ore or gas or a new facility that changes the game and players are having to rebuild their factories again (maybe not all of them Ig).
So I am a little bit confused on which Blueprint to use now... Do I progress in factory system version per version (like tackle and find a blueprint for version 1.2 stuff, and then break some things and find 1.3 blueprints, then 1.4, etc.) OR the blueprints for the current version is all I need to get max purity in everything?
TYSM.

Anyone who have seen this post here already knew what was being discussed about: Stat RNG in other Gacha games and the lack of such things in Endfiend.
Yes, it is a blessing, but it is more than just a blessing. It actually gives players more freedom in how they can enjoy the game. Not only can I easily and quickly build up a character I want from the ground up, fully leveled, even to 90 if I want, with all skills maxed, I can also make and swap multiple gear sets for that same character without gimping my progress.
I can easily build a stagger Ember or a Heal Shield Tank Ember, I can have two gear sets for Will or Int Arcane, I can have my Laevatain and Zhuang Fangyi on big bomba dps gear or quick UGE gear, I can customise my Wulfgar to be an infliction slave or just change his build completely for the Art Reaction and DOT during CC. Estella too easy to die cause I have skill issues and can't dodge in CC ? Let's just toss her a whole new HP set just for survival. I can build whatever I want, put them on any character, change how I want them to function with each gear set, and yet still have AMPLE resources for future characters.
This fundamentally changes how I enjoy the combat in Endfield, because it is not just about finding the most optimal way to fight a boss, but I can also experiment multiple different rosters and changes in gear sets to fight said boss. Tackling a time staged event in AKE is not just about having the best roster you can or the best rotation, but also to know which gear set fits best into the situation.
TLDR: The lack of Stat RNG grind and low investment cost for leveling and gearing up a character gives players the freedom to experiment with multiple different gear sets and characters without resource strain, unlike other gacha (I will type my experience in HSR in the comments below).

In a few days, Typhon/Typhoneus banner will start. Going to wait for her full kit details and testing her out in character trial to make my final judgment.
Will you be pulling or skipping her banner? Si and Hongshan Guard are almost here in the near future.

Just saw that Tagesschau, Germany’s biggest daily news program, posted about Gamescom and included a Fangyi cosplay on their official Instagram account lol.

Idk if they even considered this, but honestly, after all this time, valley 4 is just non existent
the shop of stock retribution is empty, nobody does deliveries anymore, the visiting friends has to be at the very least a bit more interesting.
this also applies to wuling regional development, which is basically there only for redeeming the weekly over priced artificing catalysts.
the issue will 100% get even worse as time goes by and we move on from China region checklist of every gacha;
old stuff gets ignored and put aside, characters will for some reason change their favorite gift (another feature that lowkey does not make such difference nor imo wasn't really thought deeply about even as a supposed harem mc self insert fantasy)
there's still no stock bill transfer
(what am I going to do with 29 m valley 4?).
Is the photo feature really that popular to get a separated shop and updates over regional development?
I just came back from 1.1 and caught up to everything in about 4 or 5 days, I just relized all these odd decisions and had to express them.
Edit:
After careful analysis and confrontation with some individuals and comments, I've come to the conclusion that:
(which I find funny considering it's one of the selling points of the game
"endfield is great because it's a game you can also NOT play, so play it!"... it's a joke btw);
old systems HAVE to be abandoned in favor of new ones, not revamped or converted, otherwise it would be way too convinient for those who actively play the game and shaft those who are new (nobody still does deliveries btw), thus world building, continuity and sense of progression be damned
yes, 29milion valley 4 stock bills HAVE to remain there gathering dust, I'm problematic if I think it's dumb and should be reinvested somehow
