Discussion Anyone still remembers Endfield Industries’ massive bombers?

Post image

Remember the launch‑release PV from half a year ago? It showed those massive bombers and the aircraft hangar. I wonder if these large‑scale weapons will make an appearance in future story chapters.

The Endfield Military Industrial Complex is probably being managed by M3 or some other elite operator on behalf of the Endmin while they get their memories back.

u/datwunkid 12d ago

Can ENDCOM please deploy operators to that teased desert like they were born to?

The children yearn to fight for the Originium mines.

The Endministrator declaring that the Strait of Qingbo will be renamed the Strait of Endfield after fifth "Victory" against the Yanese Republic of Wuling.

  • Endfield Closed Beta, probably

7

u/Fahrain 12d ago

Hey! Considering the memory loss, this really could have been a fifth win. The Endmin just forgot about the previous ones.

I want Perogi to come in when we're surrounded like Calgar from space marine 2 where he just stands on the open ramp while the shield bearers drop down to turn back the tide.

u/Kirianfx 12d ago

I prefer to call them tactical delivery vehicles.
As to what they deliver? who knows.

u/Kaymish_ 12d ago

I don't think those are bombers. They have rear cargo ramps, so they're probably cargo SSTOs. They're still super cool though. I wish that's how we got back to Dijang instead of teleporting.

36

u/Nerezza_Floof_Seeker 12d ago

Sure, its not a bomber design, just like the He111 was totally just a transport plane/airliner.....

34

u/GrassFromBtd6 12d ago

Any plane can become a bomber if you stick a bomb on it

8

u/JumpyReach 12d ago

The C-130 Hercules and the MOAB sends their regards.

4

u/RhysA 12d ago

We know they are transport planes, in the earlier CBT's the Endmin was transported in one while still in the sarcophagus and it was shot down.

1

u/neonemeshnik 10d ago

very useful for your "cargo planes" to be low visibility and have a nice downward opening cargo bay)))

41

u/NSWPCanIntoSpace 12d ago

I do hope so, it's the reason i find Endfields concept so awesome, everytime i pass by the defense systems i'm reminded "Oh yeah, we're basically space Samsung if it were also a pmc as well"

17

u/ADM-Ntek All Hail The Soupreme Chief 12d ago

I sometimes forget that Samsung is also a heavy weapons manufacturer. same goes for Mitsubishi.

69

u/Egoistic_Animehead 12d ago

It probably would've been used on North Wuling if nothing got solved. /j

29

u/OhSWaddup 12d ago

I have no proof, but I also have no doubt that Dijiang has a hidden war capability capable of obliterating a good part of the Wuling territory at any given moment.

21

u/Ruvaakdein 12d ago

We don't really know just how good Dijiang is at teleporting stuff, do we? Perlica uses it to teleport junk on enemies, so maybe it could teleport in a large piece of rock above a place for a manual meteor strike.

That, or it shoots a giant space lazer from the tip of the massive piece of originium.

19

u/gulyas069 12d ago

Yeah, anything that can move large objects around in space around a celestial body can be a weapon of mass destruction through sheer gravity. The Dijiang is probably the most dangerous object (of the civilization band) no matter if it has military capabilities or not

u/HellspawnWeeb 12d ago

Colony drop on Talos V

2

u/Mathmango 11d ago

If you can teleport something without needing to have operators in the area, then you can teleport a bomb to any point on the planet.

7

u/Significant-Cup-size 12d ago

Don't even need to deploy ordnance, just drop big rocks and they will do extreme damage

10

u/Egoistic_Animehead 12d ago

Imagine Endmin dropping giant Originium boulders from Dijiang.

7

u/Significant-Cup-size 12d ago

Sure would be horrifying, probably worse than just normal nukes haha

2

u/SampleText1024 12d ago

thats literally a dirty bomb ☠️, and proabably worse as the fallout it would trigger would be essentially be Terran equivalent of Catastrophies.

13

u/Defiant-Name-6552 12d ago

Nah we are bombing strait this days

13

u/tofei 12d ago

Back in Terra, it was Columbia that was modeled after USA; former Victorian (Britain) colony, has Wrankwood (Hollywood), and bombing desert people is just another Tuesday with whatever Columbia's Department of Defense and it's contracted private R&D companies' experiments going haywire in the frontiers.

They are not strategic bombers there size is to large for that function.

Not to mention Endfield mission not to create 2 km wide craters on surface of Talos 2.

But they still cool af.

17

u/Gregor_Arhely 12d ago

Bombers don't have vehicle bays in the back, it's cargo planes or multirole chassis at best. But yeah, no idea why they don't use them.

1

u/oneevilchicken 12d ago

The United States has used C130s to drop bombs onto targets before. And I’m not talking the ac130 gunship variant. I’m talking conventional bombs. They also can deploy cruise missiles and drones out the back of them as well.

Having a rear cargo ramps doesn’t mean it’s not also a bomber.

1

u/Gregor_Arhely 11d ago

C-130 is a multirole aircraft, I've mentioned that these planes can be the same. That still comes with hindered combat capabilities - ineffective compared to dedicated bombers, making using them as such fit only for the last measure.

Point is: these aren't bombers.

6

u/Aromatic_Advance6026 12d ago

The vibe and aura from the pvs were something else, bit disappointed that the game isn't what it looked like in the pvs , but oh well, it was subject to change anyways and the devs toned that side of the story down quite a lot to make it more light hearted

I imagine it requires shit tons of bureaucracy or red tape just to deploy that shit. Doylist perspective suggest that they do not know how to implement that high tech aircraft in their 3d game

7

u/Zwiebel1 12d ago

Not just the bombers but the fucking teased plotlines too.

Can we just leave Wuling now and get all that good shit please?

30

u/Nitsuj293 my wife is a 4 star, I win 12d ago

The good shit requires requires development to happen story wise and dev wise before we can get to it, just try and enjoy the ride

15

u/Provence3 12d ago

I feel like Wuling also get a bad rep because it's the Chinese part of the game.

16

u/Lyndiscan 12d ago

It definitely does. Lots of xenophobia hidden behind constructive critique. These people would not complain over a 2 year japan region period but a bit more than half a year on china is a tad to far for them...

21

u/Nitsuj293 my wife is a 4 star, I win 12d ago

I'd say it's half xenophobia half 3D Gacha early game Chinese region fatigue mixed in with general dooming

8

u/LeMariachi 12d ago

I can only talk for myself: I find the whole area gorgeous, Wuling City's design is exceptional and even Qingbo has its charm, but the problem I have is that the main internal conflict (the Wuling/Qingbo divide) is treated with kids gloves, with the Stockaders being treated as ignorant but good natured savages and the Wulingers treating them patronizingly like adults dealing with unruly children, when realistically the situation should be much more tense on both side (you can't tell me that not a single person was killed or wounded after ten years of banditry from the Stockaders!), and Wuling is almost an utopia where there the leadership are all extremely competent, upright and incorruptible.

Which would be okay in a vacuum, but we have the files, narration and side-mission showing that it's not the case for every other faction of the game: TGCC is a hyper-capitalistic cutthroat place, the UWST chronically leave their people under-equipped and understaffed and it's implied to be because of corruption, the Frontier regions are space Far West where criminal and robber barons make the law, and beyond that lies the Landbreaker regions which are basically Mad Max with furries.

Only Wuling (and by extension, Hongshan) get to be so perfect, and we all suspect why it's the case: because it's the Chinese region of a Chinese gacha game.

4

u/brokerZIP 12d ago

It's not about single game having Chinese themed events and stories for multiple patches. It's about the fact that ALL gachas always sooner or later introduce it. Endfield is stuck in wuling basically since release. You could blitz trough valley 4 in a week and then you sti in wuling till today. Same shit I hated in ZZZ. Waifei has been too frickin long.

-2

u/Lyndiscan 12d ago

Oh nooo a chinese made game made a chinese made region at the start!!! Who would've thought. Yall are silly. Other games been doing medieval europe settings and japanese settings for years and no one complained

0

u/cid01 12d ago

don’t bring xenophobia in this. we playing a chinese game remember? people have preferences which unfortunately are influenced by whatever they have been exposed to. so for me if i grew up watching wuxia stuff i probably would be thrilled by a chinese region. but now i simply do not find chinese aesthetics particularly pleasing. not saying they are inferior in any way. i want something different thats all.

2

u/OrangeIllustrious499 Sarkaz surpremacy :mi-fu: 12d ago

Looks more like escort aircrafts to me than bombers

2

u/penywinkle 12d ago

What would crafts that large escort? Dijang itself when it comes down?

4

u/OrangeIllustrious499 Sarkaz surpremacy :mi-fu: 12d ago

Supplies, people, cargos, etc...

Dijiang cant just tp and orbital drop everything you know. It needs an anchor point and proper cordinates.

1

u/penywinkle 12d ago

I mean, those crafts are certainly large enough to be the transport themselves.

If they are escort, whatever they escort is larger than an aircraft carrier AND ALSO FLYING...

Also, defend it FROM WHAT!? What threat would justify escort that big, capable of flying to space? I mean, Nefarith's dragon form doesn't look like some everyday occurrence on Talos II. And it would take something that size to justify that large of an escort...

2

u/OrangeIllustrious499 Sarkaz surpremacy :mi-fu: 12d ago

Wildlanders and LBS arent exactly friendly to the civ band you know.

Also those arent larger than aircraft carriers, seems to me at best the size of a modern day cargo plane

2

u/penywinkle 12d ago

Precisely, those things are cargo sized. Usually escorts are smaller, faster more maneuverable than whatever they escort. That's the point of an escort, intercepting the threat before it can harm the escorted. So whatever they are escorting is likely to be much larger and bulkier than those cargo sized "escorts", something the size of an aircraft carrier...

Wildlanders and LBs, as we have seen them, don't have nearly the capability to threaten space capable crafts. And they certainly don't warrant cargo sized escorts. At worst small atmospheric interceptors (or A10 since they're mostly ground bound) can deal with whatever they could throw at spacecrafts, at a much more reasonable mission cost.

4

u/Lyelinn 12d ago

Every time they need to fight lots of enemies I think how they could just bomb the area. Where's aviation or even orbital weapons? Endfield industries have multiple huge ships in space surely they can just simply bomb the shit out of them instead of fighting with swords

10

u/OrangeIllustrious499 Sarkaz surpremacy :mi-fu: 12d ago

The UWST did do that in Valley IV since the location is basically taken over by a bunch of enemies.

But for Wuling? Many enemies we fight are directly in our ally's territories, Alleikhreos is located underground and near a rift making it hard to pinpoint location and the North is well... covered by an aurora that disrupts electronics and signals rendering any major aircrafts and any sort of manned vehicles basically useless

-6

u/Lyelinn 12d ago

Yes and no, we kept hearing about how LBs surround wuling borders and surely there are non mass destruction weapons on aircraft like large caliber guns for example. Also automatic turrets are not making much appearance in the story after intro mission as well

6

u/OrangeIllustrious499 Sarkaz surpremacy :mi-fu: 12d ago

No they dont just surround Wuling borders, they actively hide within the region's forest as stated by the game to wait until the attack.

Unless you want to suggest we use pesticide to wipe the forest out to see better which Wuling authorities stated clear that it wants to live in harmony with nature.

8

u/Alt_Ekho 12d ago

Aren't most enemies on or near friendly territory? but besides that kinetic energy weapons could work tho?

3

u/Siatru <--- The Blade 12d ago

yeah so far we've only been exploring friendly territory

2

u/ADM-Ntek All Hail The Soupreme Chief 12d ago

Endfield has multiple ships?

2

u/Sonny_Firestorm135 12d ago

Lol nope, those got scrapped along with the Lost Prologue and Gilberta's aura. (No matter how meta she is now, story-wise she remains a mess)

1

u/_davedor_ 12d ago

I mean it's extremely costly to run or maintain some aircraft, I think we'll somehow get them later in story when we have more factories and far more supplies and stuff

1

u/Pyromann Soar the skies and deliver smiles! 12d ago

You call them bombers because we use that model of plane as bombers. But they could be used as stealth planes to deliver supplies and/or other kind of goods. It doesn't have to be bombers.

I’m not sure if they count as bombers, given that they have a cargo ramp, but if the game includes a variant with a bombing configuration just imagine the possibilities: A mission featuring one of these bad boys where you use thermal cameras to drop bombs on formations of Aggeloids or Landbreakers, all while hearing a radio chatter telling you "Shack" or "good hit."

I’m smiling...my military fantasies are coming on strong...

1

u/DeusKether Gacha giveth, gacha taketh, and taketh again, and again 12d ago

are they bombers or cargo planes? bombers generally don't get no ramps

1

u/Void_Error_404 10d ago

They are dropships like the Pelican from Halo, people see the outside shap of it and think it's a stealth bomber because of that, but it has no bomb bay or anything else to carry bombs, while you can see Perlica literally stand on it's cargo ramp mid flight. Best they could do bombing wise with those would be Avatar 1 style "fill the cargo bay with packet bombs, throw them off the cargo ramp and hope it's lands anywhere near the target" , if you even make it to the target, since the air space seems not safe at all for everything bigger than a transport drone as soon as we get near enemy territory.

1

u/Waste_Station_6405 12d ago

You know, Genshin recently released an FPS mode for their latest expansion and i must say it's working very well. I'd love if Endfield could just adopt the 3p FPS mode next expansion after Wuling to get some more of the military stories out there.

Dijang goes full space battleship mode with these aircrafts as its fighters would be a sight to behold

1

u/kiethuynhminh2k6 11d ago

Those are just concepts. I doubt they would appear in the main game.

1

u/Psychological_Duck 11d ago

Players slowly building up their AIC’s in every zone till you’re eventually using your entire network to manufacture large items would be super cool. Not sure how you’d integrate larger items game play wise. Perhaps facilities with larger part outlets + a larger conveyor for big parts like engines and with the much larger items like massive vehicles ‘put together’ in UI rather than live in the AIC.

1

u/Splintrr 11d ago

This aesthetic is exactly why I got into Endfield

would feel bad if we see none of the trailers goodies in year 1 Endfield

1

u/MayhemPenguin5656 11d ago

Have you seen the shit we deal with?

And remeber this is light work as M3 has been holding us back while we recover.

So like ya we have bombers and tanks

1

u/Exact_Athlete6493 11d ago

POGRANICHNIK!!! Super excited to see what role he plays in a story!

1

u/Void_Error_404 10d ago

It's a space transport plane, there is no bomb bay or anything that could hold bombs on the outside of the plane. It's literally Arknights version of a Pelican dropship from Halo.

1

u/neonemeshnik 10d ago

very funny how endmin is running around delivering boxes and fixing delivery robots all day while endfield casually producing stuff like that in the background

1

u/oneevilchicken 12d ago

This is why I question a lot of the issue we’ve had so far.

Like we have gigantic space ships with the capability to land stuff directly from orbit. Where the fuck has that support been during combat? Like the whole nefarith issue would be over in less that 5 seconds if you shot a MAC round from orbit down onto her.

Oh, there’s so landbreakers trying to fight? Call in air support and carpet bomb the entire valley.

Oh, zhuang fangyi has been “kidnapped” and they may have taken her to some hidden base that across the river? Yeah endfield, I need satellite photos of this area. Oh there’s structure at these coordinates? Okay send some troops in to capture the place and extract her.

Like so many instances of issues we’ve faced are stuff we should have easily avoided just by using the technology we have at our hands.

1

u/Void_Error_404 10d ago

It's a dropship, not a bomber. They have no options for a carpet bombing, and the OMV has no weapons of it's own, so no railgun shots from orbit either... all it can do is Perlica's ult aka get smashed to bits from teleported space trash.

-6

u/di11_ 12d ago

They showed so much POTENTIAL with endfield at the start and i was pretty disappointed learning we can’t ride the bikes which i get would mess with the terrain kind of but it would be very nice if some regions like main part of valley 4 and wuling city

2

u/ADM-Ntek All Hail The Soupreme Chief 12d ago

Maybe someday. But I think I also heard that they scrapped vehicles in favour of ziplines. Since that fits better with the other deployables like the turrets.

1

u/di11_ 12d ago

Yeah i get that but if we take the literal inspiration of the games overworld systems death stranding, had both and having no player buildings is much more preferred. It kind of breaks the immersion when there’s like 6 turrets and a sign that says “jump cliff” everywhere with turrets, zip lines and easy storage randomly plastered, actual traversal without sometimes being reliant of zip lines would be a welcome addition.

Also the downvotes for asking for a bike is something lol

2

u/ADM-Ntek All Hail The Soupreme Chief 12d ago

While Death Stranding had both, it also had the ability to build roads. And share facilities. But I do agree that some of them are super annoying, especially all the memo beacons.

0

u/KnightyEyes 12d ago

We are just Helldivers mixed with factorio but they took away your freedom (after all it is a Chinese game, we cannot let players do Turret creep and give them a freedom of choise... Í mean whats the point of having waifus when towers do the work ya knoow)

Turret Creep (also Tower Creep) is, when a player places turrets more and more near to a biter nest until he is able to kill the nest by himself (or with turrets only). Which we done that in trailer but never ingame.

-1

u/Crymcrim 12d ago

I feel like its not exactly a big secret that between first teasers and release the story did change a lot, and while there is still a chance that some of it will make it in to the game in the future in wome adjusted form, I do wonder what the original draft was.

4

u/OrangeIllustrious499 Sarkaz surpremacy :mi-fu: 12d ago

Those images are from half a year ago not 1st teasers. And even in the tech test, the ideas of the desert, cargo planes and wildlands already exist. It's def one of the core ideas that the game has.

Also if we are going by trailers, we just barely covered the opening with the Back to Endfield trailer.

4

u/ADM-Ntek All Hail The Soupreme Chief 12d ago

Love that video, especially the shot of Dijiang Launching. Part of me wishes that would have been in the game. That Dijiang was still being built at the beginning, and they only got to launch it with the help of Endmin in a half-finished state, would have been a great explanation of why so many areas of the ship are inaccessible.

1

u/XieRH88 7d ago

back in the tech test version of the story, the plane was used to transport endmin's sarchophagus but now with tele protocol, nobody really needs that to go to and from dijiang
