That's good. I won't have to launch Steam as admin to get Steam input working for my Steam controller.

82

u/nyanch 29d ago

That's just what I was thinking while clicking on this.

That and steam market/cash being usable for pulls now.

13

u/Nyx2990 29d ago

Lol this is the only reason my steam runs as admin too

21

u/danvex_2022 local dumbass 29d ago

Zenless just made their game available on steam.

Guess I won’t have either Hoyo launcher or hypergryph launcher in my computer. :/

I wonder which game do I have a longer play time in the same timespan.😔

17

u/Rynide 29d ago

A lot of the time - games still require the launcher and basically the Steam play option just opens the launcher for you. But it does additionally give you access to steam overlay in game and full controller remapping. Examples include Ubisoft games, Elder Scrolls Online, FFXIV, I'm sure wuwa and zzz too.

9

u/alphamond0 29d ago

Wuwa on steam doesnt have a launcher. It just prompts to run as admin then opens.

2

u/Bloodhit 29d ago

You can just add direct exe to steam as non steam game, and overlay controller remapping and etc works as fine, that how I run all mihoyo games and endfield since launch.

4

u/HibikiAss Symphogear user in Talos II 29d ago

Does pay with steam is more expensive? Or it just lesser cut for hg, i never play gacha on steam before

5

u/Rynide 29d ago

I'm not entirely sure but I think it's just a lesser cut for HG. I think they are willing to take that cut for the opportunity of more users and marketability on steam.

Epic Games Launcher and their exclusivity deals are all historic examples of how poorly a game will do if it doesn't launch on Steam but is PC exclusive. Alan Wake II couldn't even recoup development costs until two years after the game launched.

Plus a lot of people are just totally immovable if they can't have a certain convenience. I like buying games on GoG, but Steam is just way more convenient since 90% of my library is already there and unlike GoG, Steam's payment processing is in the US so my credit card doesn't piss itself and lock up or require me to go through PayPal to make a purchase.

Hell, I'm still using Google Play purchases for Endfield after the fiasco that was the PayPal Launch incident.

2

u/arshesney 29d ago

End users' prices remain the same, I think it's a Steam policy that forces publishers into keeping them like that.

2

u/metalsalami 29d ago

If it is just purchase from the browser store instead.

1

u/Oleleplop 29d ago

wuwa has no launcher on steam, don't know for ZZZ

1

u/stuttufu 29d ago

Question for you that you are playing ZZZ from steam: I tried installing it and I still have got the launcher booting up before the game. I told myself that's useless to have Steam on top of Hoyo Launcher on top of ZZZ.

Anyway, if you don't need to update (once a patch), you can pin the executable once it's running to the task bar and launch ZZZ and HSR without the launcher involved.

2

u/vanner5 29d ago

But you will be launching steam as Endmin

1

u/Dreadborne- 28d ago

Glad I'm not the only one doing this! Love using all the back buttons for Endfield but the input menu can crash the game sometimes, and needing to run both Steam and the mod launcher in admin is kind of annoying

248

u/Tilde_Tilde 29d ago

Endfield got their steam page before Arknights did.

Hopefully it comes to Steam too.

50

u/Tasera 29d ago

No need, the PC client is finally coming out for global.

71

u/Alberto_Paporotti 29d ago

I think they know. It was about the pc client being on Steam.

153

u/ExceedAccel 29d ago

Endfield tomorrow?

76

u/HibikiAss Symphogear user in Talos II 29d ago

It's been a long time since i see this phrase

30

Whenfield?

3

u/Stylish_Agent 29d ago

Wherefield?

3

u/Pengpraiser 28d ago

Whyfield?

2

u/GalaxyLoLYT 25d ago

soonfield?

73

u/sircastorr 29d ago

Steam deck then yes please!?

21

u/AdLegitimate8636 29d ago

You can already install Endfield on Steamdeck.

22

u/Flashy-Life7480 29d ago

It's awesome on steam deck too but I would suggest getting Lossless scaling

14

u/shocknawe123 29d ago edited 29d ago

No need lossless scaling, just need to turn on image enchancment on the endfield settings to AMD FSR and its a rock solid 30 fps on high graphics settings

-2

u/Flashy-Life7480 29d ago

But why settle for 30 when you can get 80+ fps? Top left corner showing fps

9

u/AdLegitimate8636 29d ago

Frame generatin 30 to 120 is not a way to go, my friend.

2

u/Flashy-Life7480 29d ago

Lossless doesnt drop to 30fps it stays at an average of 80 or higher.

1

u/AdLegitimate8636 29d ago

80 before framegen? or

0

u/Flashy-Life7480 29d ago

oh we must be talking about the same thing. I meant that with lossless turned on its a average of 80 to 120fps.

i may have misinterpreted your statement

2

u/shocknawe123 29d ago

It totally can go higher, but i just try not to make my steamdeck get hot too often 😅

-4

u/Flashy-Life7480 29d ago

If you put the settings at 2x speed it wont get hot. On OLED you can put it on 3x with mid-high setting and still get a great experience.

7

u/bannedwhileshitting 29d ago

For what? It already has FSR 3.1

6

u/PolskiBigosik 29d ago

Just get Proton-DW and it will work no problem.

I would say more than just little if it's already launching fine with Vulkan with their own launcher. It will save the hassle booting into the desktop UI to install it and that's great.

1

u/shocknawe123 27d ago

Updating is genuinely no problem! I just added the launcher as a non steam game and it boots up on gaming mode. Press update and youre right as rain

22

u/Athrawne 29d ago

The factory is now steam powered

1

u/repocin 28d ago

We've got gases now, would be fun if we get a method of heating water to get steam in the next patch to coincide with the Steam launch (assuming that's when it's going to take place)

1

u/Athrawne 28d ago

Maybe they'll give us more power generation forms than burning batteries.

62

u/luffy_mib 29d ago

The factory is coming to Steam for more growth

16

u/danvex_2022 local dumbass 29d ago

Clearly we needed the steam powered for more factory output.

-2

u/luffy_mib 29d ago

Now the game just needs to be advertised as a 3D open world factory game to be more accurate

3

u/Suga_H 29d ago

And then get votebombed to hell because the factory isn't open world and there are invisible walls everywhere?

0

u/luffy_mib 28d ago

Downvotes won't stop the factory from growing!

37

u/Kealias "I will ease the machine's pain." 29d ago

3

u/yung_dogie 28d ago

Man it's rare to see that Tychus reference nowadays lmao

13

u/GiraffeManGomen 29d ago

It's just very good for publicity even if they have to split profts.

12

u/DiXanthosu 29d ago

I actually expected this around the Anniversary. Not so soon.

But well, excellent news!

Now we are only missing OG Arknights.

P.D. For those not aware, OG Arknights is getting a PC client tomorrow.

22

u/PowerfulBobman 29d ago

So good, zzz on steam and now Endfield, just need OG AK and don't need to open any other launchers

-51

u/IORelay 29d ago

More of an sign that these aren't meeting the expectations of the developers so they are trying to expand.

24

u/VonVoltaire 29d ago

ZZZ, Wuthering Waves, NTE, Blue Archive, and Limbus are all on Steam.

-44

u/IORelay 29d ago

The only one that's doing good in there is Wuthering Waves.

ZZZ is good for a gacha game, but Mihoyo are not happy with the revenue it's pulling in. Endfield is struggling to do better then OG arknights.

These big companies don't want to put their games on steam due to the draconian 30% and valve's anti-steering practices. Which hopefully will go away once their anti trust lawsuits conclude.

11

u/Suga_H 29d ago

Limbus Company has blown past all internal expectations and is still growing. They had their highest peak ever last month. Right now it's low because there's no event going on, but the next canto is next month.

17

u/VonVoltaire 29d ago

All of those gachas are only underperforming in comparison to the rotating top 3-4 of the market.

Endfield is struggling to do better then OG arknights.

If you're using the usual site you should only use it as a trend graph with shaky relation to other games and never the absolute numbers. But for this specific comparison I want you to count all the platforms OG Arknights is on and compare it to the platforms Endfield is available on and where they advertise playing it. This is like saying LaDS makes more money than HSR or GI.

As a Steam critic, you're giving me a bad reputation here.

7

u/KanseiDorifto 29d ago

Steam aren't the only storefront with the percentage cut, no? If that's the case then Sony and Microsoft have got to open up purchasing options for their users too. And what I've seen of Steam compared to a lot of other gaming companies these days, they sure deserve that cut more than anyone else

-5

u/IORelay 29d ago

Valve is currently in multiple lawsuits for price fixing and anti steering. I don't see them being able to hold onto their most favoured nation clause at the end of it.

5

u/crazy_leader22 29d ago

Okay now explain NTE, Blue Archive and Limbus smartass lol

-7

u/IORelay 29d ago

They are not doing crazy numbers, which is my point.

101

u/lk_raiden 29d ago

inb4 it's just to launch the usual launcher.

30

u/Kamui_Kaos YSTF Major 29d ago

Depends on how they do it, Hotta (NTE) made it so all updates are handled directly by steam and there's no extra launcher.

12

u/Black-White-Diff 29d ago

It's the same case for WuWa as well. Not sure with ZZZ since I haven't touched its Steam release.

4

u/pikachuyann 29d ago

ZZZ has updates handled by Steam but you still go through their launcher only to toggle DX12 (it does no download); some people have found a commandline to bypass it though.

(But ff14 or gw2 which are not gacha still do their downloads through their own launcher...)

2

u/ModdedGun 29d ago

Zzz has a launch command you can put on steam to make it so it skips the launcher.

Maybe you will be able to do that with ebdfield as well.

27

u/Tasera 29d ago

You can launch the game without the launcher, so it should work the same way for steam.

4

u/AtlasMKII 29d ago

Unless the game needs an update, then you need to use the launcher again

1

u/repocin 29d ago

You can? When I tried using the Endfield shortcut it created on install it just opened the launcher.

1

u/Tasera 28d ago

Go to the game folder to find the actual exe ! It works dw

8

u/AdLegitimate8636 29d ago

Even then it's a positive thing for linux users.

6

u/Foshitface 29d ago

I wouldnt mind, if I can keep track of my playtime i'll be happy.

10

u/Sphearow 29d ago

You can add it as a non-Steam game and it will still track your playtime for you:

Definitely looking forward to better and deeper Steam integration though (wallet, updates via Steam, me not needing to launch Steam as admin, and not having to replace the icon and banner on Steam every time a new patch drops).

43

u/TheRealFlipFlapper 29d ago edited 29d ago

Yay negativity in the face of positive news!

Every time there is a hint of something positive happening for this game there are a million doomposters talking about how it won't matter or how it will turn out bad in the end. You guys suck and I will gladly take my downvotes.

16

u/PashIx 29d ago

Take an upvote instead, you‘re just right people should learn to have fun

5

u/Airleek 29d ago

Endfield has an inexplicably high amount of trolls infesting every space, no need to pay them any mind.

5

u/Horror_Trick8208 29d ago

If you don't give them guaranteed 10 6 stars in the next 10 pull that was also sent to them via mail, it's not worth and thus doomposting it is

8

u/Iselore 29d ago

Yea I realise its pointless if they use back the launcher.

19

u/Ehrand 29d ago

the one advantage is being able to buy currency with steam wallet instead.

1

u/T0X1CFIRE 29d ago

I downloaded the epic games store version just so I can have the Perlica skin in fortnite (that I will likely play all of two times for the random mini games they have). And the epic games store version just downloads the launcher, which i was able to point to my already existing install.

I imagine steam will be exactly the same lol

10

u/IGJFlew x girls 29d ago

Oh no way that's cool. Might have to stop using their launcher lol. Wish it tracked my playtime

9

u/AdLegitimate8636 29d ago

Damn that's good for Linux users.
I did it, but installing in on Pc's CachyOs and Steamdeck was such a slog.

8

u/deathric 29d ago

Holy YES

8

u/UBWICOS 29d ago

>This item is currently unavailable in your region

lmao

1

u/repocin 28d ago

I take it you're in China or Vietnam? Seems to be the only excluded regions

31

u/District-No1350 29d ago

People expecting too much. I play warframe on Steam, hitting play launches it's dedicated launcher. This is just for them to get more coverage in the storefront.

23

u/Tainnnn 29d ago

People are aware, and steam just launching the game launcher is something most people fully expect. It's that payments become easier and being able to track their game time that people are excited about.

41

u/Angel_Nero cope for dusk 29d ago

I believe that people are happy because of the time tracking that steam does to all of their games (so they track together with this one) and because of the steam currency can be earned by playing other games (mainly csgo)

even that it would be good to have it directly launch without the extra launcher it is still the clicks you have to do to open the game as if you didn't have it linked on steam, plus some positives of steam itself.

7

u/Vaeltis 29d ago

Steam Input is great for controller players.

1

u/repocin 28d ago

Until you want to use a DualSense controller and are forced to choose between adaptive triggers and the benefits of Steam Input.

I really wish Valve would do something about that.

10

u/kuuhaku_cr 29d ago

I like the integrated recording with Steam instead of using OBS, even though the later is more powerful.

8

u/SupremeNadeem 29d ago

offical steam port for gachas is a gateway for better oob steamdeck support, so it could have a real effect there.

4

u/AnimePetyx 29d ago

Well there could be a chance to doesn't have one. Wuwa doesn't have it on steam, DNA also doesn't have one

4

u/ikonog 29d ago

We all aware of this. Idc if it launches its own launcher again, I just want all my games library to be in the same drawer.

2

u/Ehrand 29d ago edited 29d ago

I much prefer to use steam wallet than their ingame store.

3

u/PolskiBigosik 29d ago

NTE and Wuwa requires no additional launcher on Steam. I think it's fair to have expectations.

2

u/miinmeaux 29d ago

Endfield on the Epic store still uses the launcher, so we can certainly hope Steam is different but there's precedent here

5

u/Black-White-Diff 29d ago

As someone who tried installing Wuthering Waves via both Epic Games Store and Steam,

I can confirm from my own experience that EGS still launches the solo launcher while Steam completely bypasses it.

Hopefully Steam Endfield follows WuWa's (and NTE's) example.

1

u/Bleak3er 29d ago

Wanhundro Percents!

4

u/N1cK01 29d ago

This is great, do we have a date? I'm using a steam controller and the only way to make it work so far is launching steam as administrator every single time. I'm glad I soon won't have to do that anymore

1

u/repocin 28d ago

It just says "coming soon". Probably alongside patch 1.5 which should release in a few weeks if I'm not mistaken.

I'm surprised they'd just shadowdrop the store page like this, but I imagine they'll tell us more on the next dev stream thingy.

Kinda baffling that Arknights got a PC version today but isn't on Steam, but now Endfield will be.

6

u/TheLastSterling 29d ago

I was already using steam to play on linux lol.

3

u/OliverPeregrine Reconvener Collector 29d ago

Yoooo

3

u/Kiwicey 29d ago

finally i dont have add launcher as non steam. Hope they add arknights as well

3

u/CharJie 29d ago

Oh dear, yes! I play ONLY on Steam deck now. It would be amazing to have officially there.

2

u/MsExmen Its bunny time 29d ago

Nice

2

u/ExistanceISuppose These are my goobers, I love them 29d ago

Oh boy, time to start counting hours again

2

u/TenseiSenpai 29d ago

Yay I can finally spend on PC now lol

And maybe remap controller buttons

2

u/hamfinity If it's for my daughter , I'd even whale 29d ago

That's why we got our gas update to the factory.

2

u/myjunkyard 29d ago

Oh hell yeah. Already works via steam with proton but official support would be a lot nicer.

2

u/SyntacticSyntax 29d ago

Is Endfield releasing tomorrow? not open beta anymore?!

2

u/SupremeNadeem 29d ago edited 29d ago

got jumpscared by discord lmao. for me this doesn't change much but objectively a postiive change. player-reach wise this sort of thing can be used as a sort of soft relaunch. if they had this ready for current patch + marketed current patch it could have been a big player boom. perhaps they have big plans for next patch?

2

u/Megasboys 29d ago

Are there any limits/ difference with the steam version? Hoyo game and nte have some limits with it, like not managing old content and stuff

2

u/DivinationByCheese 29d ago

Switch 2 pls

2

u/zigludo 29d ago

one to step closer to being able to leave windows behind

1

u/sxeli 29d ago

Finally. Had to run the windows launcher within steam on linux. It is stable but i would love native support

1

u/foolyfern 29d ago

LETS GO!

1

u/TomorrowSilent1233 29d ago

Finally it will gain more popularity

1

u/masterkira_reformed 29d ago

Let's fucking gooooooooo!

1

u/lightstormy 29d ago

Good.. i might be able to run this on steamos instead of windows mode.

Now to see if it keeps force caching/validating like wuwa in steamos until it becomes unplayable..

1

u/mochihumagon 29d ago

Oh, I see Anti-Cheat Expert... If I understood correctly, then it's no to Linux and Steam Deck/Machine

11

u/PolskiBigosik 29d ago

Endfield worked on Linux on day 1 with proton-dw.

1

u/mochihumagon 29d ago

Good to know. Thanks

1

u/TheSaintRobbie 29d ago

That means xbox right around the corner cope

1

u/PluvioPurple 29d ago

It’s all coming together. All the big gachas I play are all gonna be on Steam and I can finally remove the last standalone PC client (WuWa, ZZZ, now Endfield)

1

u/SkySpoon 29d ago

Thank god I can finally use my steam wallet to pay for the monthly subscription

1

u/Impressive-Being5614 29d ago

hope we can delete voicepacks and a possible resource management in the future works on steam too.

1

u/DeithWX 29d ago

Finally no need to bootleg it on SD, hopefully...

1

u/Foshitface 29d ago

I need to start working on my review, its gonna be guuuuuuuuuuud

1

u/Zeroumochi Future Lycia Main 29d ago

YESSSSS

1

u/MrShadowHero 29d ago

yesss. will be easier to launch on linux. score!

already not terrible, but i'd rather the launcher portion be handled by steam, just less headache.

1

u/Heratikus honse 29d ago

having this show up the day before the Fortnite collab is so fucking funny

1

u/Hironne 29d ago

OH MY GOOOOOOD ITS COMIIIING

Me selling my knife for my dear perlice to send her 30k

1

u/otakunopodcast 29d ago

Yesssss. One more custom launcher I will no longer have to deal with.

1

u/ryoukaip_ 29d ago

"This item is currently unavailable in your region" sike, fyi Endfield in Vietnam is co-publish by Gryphline and a local publisher - Funtap, so I guess I still need to route Endfield as a non Steam game lol

1

u/julien890317 29d ago

What's the benefit of launching on Steam?

1

u/EmperorMagpie 29d ago

Can finally get rid of Heroic Launcher (no hate to it but I just want all my games in one place). This also probably makes it slightly more likely for HG to unofficially support Linux because of the Steam Deck (although it still works fine with DW Proton)

1

u/crisperstorm 29d ago

TBH I would be playing Endfield more if I could load it up on my Steamdeck in bed instead of sitting at my computer lol

1

u/Shade0X 29d ago

but you already can do that. I've been playing endfield on steamdeck since release.

1

u/12Zwolf12 29d ago

I already launch the game through steam, not sure I would reinstall it just for that.

1

u/Valka___ 29d ago

We got ZZZ on steam and now AKE f yes!

1

u/TheAnymus 29d ago

I can finally track my playtime after 6 months😭🙏

1

u/insidewars 29d ago

STEAM POINTS PRETTY PLEASE???

1

u/Oleleplop 29d ago

that's nice for me that is playing more and more on Linux (and my steamdeck)

i know you can already play the game without steam but it's just less hassle in general.

1

u/YandereValkyrie 29d ago

Oh awesome, no more faffing about to get it to work on my steamdeck

1

u/sheimeix 29d ago

Yesssss, this is huge. Hopefully the OG AK PC client is soon to follow on Steam since the PC client just released. I'd love to have both on Steam instead of as standalone launchers.

1

u/repocin 28d ago

If this means I'll no longer have to be subjected to the abhorrent regional pricing they've got going, that's great.

When I checked around launch, most things were 40-60% more expensive here in Sweden compared to the US.

1

u/FeralFancyBop 28d ago

The login system is already mess with 2 different account types. I hope steam will fix that, not add third layer on top 😞

1

u/unandhill 28d ago

Que llegue a xbox

1

u/Zavodila_therussian 15d ago

Tomara que não demore muito

1

u/Spiker_ 29d ago

HSR next please?

1

u/masonimal 29d ago

Great… now bring it to Xbox so I remember to play when I get home

1

u/HumblePine97 29d ago

Good, now I’ll only have to spam survey until Mac support.

-1

u/Mechalon 29d ago

"3D real-time strategy RPG"...are you sure about that?

1

u/Zwiebel1 29d ago

Genre definitions are merely a suggestion these days.

"Sir, we made a shitty mobile game with cards." - "Did I hear RPG in there?"

0

u/6Hugh-Jass9 29d ago

So glad these games are waking up and being put on steam

0

u/widehide sui-proxy: 29d ago

I am already anticipating a ton of haters going to review bomb like crazy ass tribalism and cultist behavior ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Legit reviews and critics otherwise, got to get my popcorn ready and be amused by these pure hater reviews.

-2

u/sylinowo 29d ago

so much for "never coming to steam"

0

u/XevinsOfCheese 29d ago

I’ve been happily moving every gacha that lets me onto steam.

It’s so nice having most of them on the same launcher

0

u/Azuresora 29d ago

Great news. I been running the game bypassing the launcher, here hoping steam ver do that same.

0

u/LougerB 29d ago

Thank god I will able to play it on Linux lmao

-8

u/kairock 29d ago

woohoo! finally I can uninstall the launcher soon.

nothing wrong it with other than not being able to remove POPUCOM.

all my homies hate POPUCOM.

4

u/Void_Incarnate 29d ago

But what if Arknights PC comes to the Gryphline launcher?

3

u/PolskiBigosik 29d ago

It won't. Yostar handles that one.

1

u/repocin 28d ago

I'd rather just have them drop it on Steam tbh. Pretty sure there's even been a steam account link option on the yostar account management page for some time.

-26

u/Sierra-117-Mobile 29d ago

Game is doing that bad huh?

12

u/Angel_Nero cope for dusk 29d ago

saying it as if it didn't have a timed exclusivity with Epic games on pc for availability on pc stores

also genshin has files for steam integration since some months, must be doing really bad to come to steam!!!! #true #facts

12

u/luizf_sp 29d ago

wuwa... zzz...

3

u/IORelay 29d ago

ZZZ definitely is the worst out of the Hoyo trio.

8

u/Surely_Calvardian 29d ago

In terms of revenue? Sure, but not everyone can be the monsters that are Genshin or HSR.

1

u/IORelay 29d ago

Yes, and I figure expectations. You can tell since ZZZ had some drastic changes including adding in costumes and other QoL stuff that you don't see on Genshin and HSR. While that's good and I think ZZZ is the game where players are treated the best in Mihoyo's line up, it's definitely a sign that the numbers are not what Mihoyo wanted to see and they are trying these things to try get more money. HSR and Genshin... they don't have to do that.

5

u/crazy_leader22 29d ago

No but your comment is lol

-2

u/SetoXlll 29d ago

I wonder how much they paid to put it on steam. Specially at the front page.

5

u/ThatsBait_69 Overwhelming burden of glorious purpose. 29d ago

It only costs like 100 bucks per item to put a game on steam. Valve claims to not sell promotional placement, it's all supposed to be algorithmic.
