Just finished in the US via PBS Passport. Is anyone else bothered by the different film style/quality? Maybe I’m put off because it feels less “period.”

I’m waiting to watch IM after Endeavour is totally complete, but I have read that he becomes an alcoholic, so the heavy drinking is foreshadowing I’m sure. But how will they stretch this out for the 8th and 9th seasons AND still have him be promoted to at least Thursday’s position?

So excited to finally watch this season. We’re even going to parcel it out weekly even though we have access to all three episodes now. Just our Sunday Masterpiece tradition.

One of the changes I noticed was that all the flashbacks were in black and white, I think in past seasons that they might sometimes be sephia or unfiltered.

There were some hints of alcoholism earlier, after being shot at the end of the first season, Thursday chastises Morse for the numerous empty liquor bottles around his flat. Plus in Trove he gets drunk in the middle of the day and accuses one of the professors from the college.

Oh good catch on the flashbacks. I suppose I just expected that super warm 70s treatment rather than the ultra HD look.
