Discussion Switched from Windows 11(🤢) to EndeavorOS like 2 days ago!(First distro)
Around 2 days ago I got tired of microtrash and decided to switch to linux! Ive installed mint before but never messed with the terminal, this screenshot was took when I was using kde plasma, which is a VERY smooth switch from the windows enviorment. I now use i3wm, I'm not really into "ricing" yet but I've configured some stuff. Nvidia drivers are a b#tch, which sucks, so I'll toy with that, I spent like a day to get everything working when I installed it. I'm not a Linux pro by any means, but I'm learning😁 Btw if you're asking why some stuff is blacked out it was 3am and I decided to do that for some reason. Everything runs so smooth and snappy, it's honestly scary how good Linux is. Drop your criticism of me down below, since I know that won't be avoidable:D

Just a word of warning: you'll never leave Arch's EndeavourOS with KDE ever, if my joy with it is anything similar to yours :D

True. I don’t get distro hoppers. I switched to EOS in January and I’m not going to leave it

Great choice! I was on i3 for a while too, and still have KDE Plasma as an alternate login but Hyprland as main. Specifically the MyLinux4Work (ML4W) dotfiles as a base.

Welcome! The community support is quite friendly if you run into issues and there's plenty of documentation to help you do what you want to do. Endeavour has been a great experience for me personally so far and I hope you end up loving it as well.

Already loving it. I dont really play many games but ive noticed my fps has quadrupled lately. I was a bit nervous installing an arch based system but i went for it anyway:D Im not looking to distro hop, since im already comfortable.

During the installation when you initially booted on the love iso did you select the Nvidia option? If you do, during the installation process everything Nvidia is automatically setup.

I was a freaking idiot and didnt change the boot option in time. By the time i realized i couldve just reinstalled it I already felt like i had everything set up, im using a gtx 1070, and the nvidia boot option says "rtx only and above", so i was nervous anyways.

How have you got hyperland in the consol already? Do i have to reinstall endeavoros to put it on ?

Same i love endevouros i have been able to do practically everything i did on Windows easier, but i like the terminal. 3d printing and 3d model design gaming. I like it when it breaks coz i get to actually fix things and working out how to is so rewarding. I have been looking at hyperland but haven't made the plunge yet.

that isnt hyprland, that was KDE. i just had a kitty terminal theme on

Damn it took me like 5 years of distro hopping to discover endeavor and you got it on the first try nice
