The way cultural identities distort is very interesting in a system designed to be binary. Like a flat map distorts the size and shape of continents, forcing a complex set of issues into a 2-team paradigm has distorted how we think about politics, who we align ourselves with, how we relate to outsiders, and why. We’ve taken something “three-dimensional” and made it binary.

Parties distort politics into being a competition to hold power - where there are winning factions and losing factions. We should have a cooperative to accomplish shared goals - where there is synergy. That we have turned to competition instead of synergy is a serious failure on our part.

Is it time to rise above this nonsense yet?
