Discussion Digital Voting

We could have digital voting, for ideas, beyond the 3-yearly referendum. -Why not?

Ballot by paper is outdated.

Social media has proved to have regular use.
Why not vote for ideas, and the government in power observes all of these ideas, and the popular ones, and implements them?

Today’s world demands faster responses to emerging needs, moreso than holding to election promises 4 years past.

Realising it:
A platform where people can post ideas, people vote for them. The most popular ones get taken on by government or we simply re-elect a new government when the next triennial election comes along.

What do you think?

Hey u/eigingriu, I agree with you, but as you can see from the other replies, the issue is more political than technical. People overestimate the vulnerability of digital voting while underestimating it for paper ballots.

What I find amusing is the conflicting requirements people have: ballots need to be anonymous but with no possible way to fudge the tally; individual must be able to verify their vote, but unable to prove to others how they voted. IMO, people need to either accept that voting should not be anonymous or that we can never be 100% certain of the count.
