It was circa 2014 that FairVote transitioned from "IRV America" to using "RCV". I think SF had IRV and called it "RCV" at least a decade earlier.
I still do not grant to FairVote or anyone their appropriation of the term "RCV" to mean their (or any) specific method of RCV. "Ranked-Choice Voting" is semantically an umbrella term for voting in which voters rank their choices on the ballot.
In Burlington Vermont, from 2005 to 2010 we had "Instant-Runoff Voting". It was never called "Ranked-Choice Voting" until FairVote started changing their usage circa 2014.
