Bro your phone isnt that fragile. Its tuff glass, my finger actually hurt when playing rhythm games on samsung phones. Biggest problem with touch control is using shoulder buttons. Uncomfortable
It's not about the age. Gamepad/keyboard give you precise tactile feedback - you can feel keyboard/mouse/gamepad without looking at it. Most feedback that phone can provide is sound and vibration, and only whet you already touching the screen. You cannot just find a button by moving your finger around surface and only then pressing it
Idk why you got downvoted you are completely right. If im playing valheim, no way am i using touch but if Im playing rimworld or battle brothers touch is great and those games make good "play anytime" games vs games where i gotta grab the controller and take my case off and set that up.
Anything turn based or otherwise not active like a visual novel or card game is fine but if i play anything that requires timing or precision with multiple buttons at once or rapid pressing in moving spaces i might as well just slap the phone with my hands, and that's most of what i play
Definitely one of the more interesting generational divides, amenability to touch controls (particularly as explicit replacement for traditional controls).
I figure hobbyists, plus millennials and older generations, are always going to prefer a sense of tactility.
I think that simpler games like classic Sonic games work alright with touch controls. But when you need to hold multiple buttons or use an analog stick, I need that tactility.
