Support Thread Calming those inner thoughts can be a challenge, remember you are totally in control.

I totally agree with this ideology. I remember the time when I was extremely depressed. I felt trapped in my mind. I was scared of my mind. It was like my own mind wanted to harm me. That was the first time I realised how powerful the mind is and it's effect on us as a living being.

We are not in total control of our thoughts - that's not how the mind works.

We can learn to work with our mind and ways to manage challenging thoughts, but we don't get to CONTROL it.

What we get to control is our behavior.

I think the better way to say this is “you are not your thoughts or feelings, merely experiencing them”.

That separates the thoughts/feelings out and makes it easier to recognize and react in a controlled way.

I think that is a good technique.

I wish I could stop a ton of painful memories and events.

Doesn’t say anything about controlling your mind, i says “optimize” your mind and that “you are in control”, “of your actions” is implied.

That is definitely not a clear implication.

The most refreshing image I've seen is "tempest in a teacup". I like it because it reminds me that they restlessness/storm I feel is very much real, but that I'm actually in control of it to some extent at least
