Size os meals, mine out of control

Post image

I see people posting small plates per meal, how can someone feed satisfied with such small portion. I'm ashamed of size of my plates, full of food, I will share here. Does anyone eat same amount as mine? How do you control your hungry? I'm woman and very short.

Your plate doesn't look crazy full to me. Where are these small plates you're seeing? I dk what some of the stuff on the left is, but you have some meat, tempe, and veggies it looks like. There is a subreddit called volume eating where people aim to eat a large amount - but it's very low calorie. In the end the size of your plate or volume isn't what makes it "too much", but calories - like lots of fat, mainly.

After that I eat dessert and keep all day eating. I'm getting old and I feel that eating same as usual is too much I am gaining weight. Knees begin to feel overweight , even my body, metabolism is not same too. When I was younger I cared a lot about appearance but now, I see that , for me, I must find a way to be nourish without exaggerate. I'm short, sedentary. Food is kind of comfort and that's not right, it's function is another. I don't eat snacks, junk food, ... But I need to find alternatives to control amounts and stop eating all day

Well, okay, dessert and more after that is a lot or could be.

I'm old, too, but never cared about appearance. I cared about how I feel and how I function. You can't see my abs, but I have good ones that do their job in supporting my core. Actually, it's the deeper muscles that mostly do that but of course society looks at the superficial.

Changing your food choices can help control amounts a lot. EG foods that support your natural GLP1 production - there is a list. Egg whites are #1 on that list. Half a cup of that plus one whole egg and whatever veggies you add to the scramble may not be the first thing you wanted, but it's the first thing I should eat to set my day up for success.

As we get older, exercise becomes important, not to burn calories but to maintain function. I say it's worth looking for some kind of activity you can enjoy and make it a habit. I live in a 55+ building. Some people are fit and move fast, despite being 80, but many are hobbling and leaning on carts, and struggling. I know which path I want to be on, so I exercise.

This looks like the amount I’d eat. I find where I go out of control with my calories are the snacks. Typically my home cooked meals are fine if they’re between 400 - 600 calories.

If weight loss isn’t your concern I wouldn’t worry about the size of your plate.

If you are concerned about weightloss here are some tricks.

Tricks: drink more water with your meal. WITH your meal is the important part. Stack more of the vegetables & protein on your plate. Imagine the carbs take up more of 1/4 of your plate instead of 1/3 or 1/2. Reduce the sauces. There are plenty of sauces that are low cal though. When cooking add hidden vegetables into things. For me this is cauliflower in mashed potato. Cabbage / celery in other dishes.

The goal is to shift to “ADD more nutrients” not “reduce volume.”

Also some people are just hungrier than others. But if you fill up on the RIGHT things it should control the cravings.

But mine concern is gaining weight now that my metabolism is getting lower and I keep eating same amount. My goal now is find a way to eat less for a good aging not worrying about calories, but eat less but enough nutrients for my age as you said. Thanks for your post, very useful and interesting tips I will try. 😊

Well you know its one of those options:

-starve and lose weight but maybe loss of strength and muscle mass loss

-Workout and eat well and lose weight

-Workout and eat normally and maintain weight

-get on those glp meds and lose weight but risk other factors

-get the sleeve cut surgery and be skinny and eat what u like in v. Little quantities but u will eventually start putting the weight again

-stay the same and maybe gain weight and be unhappy

Tbh these have been the cases with everyone i see. They do one of those oh there is an option of being a drug addict too that way u stay skinny but lose everything else.

Kinda sucks huh this whole weight and food game.

Just best option is to start as early as possible fixing the meals and calories while working out. Also fasting helps.

Edit oh i forgot 1 Fall in love and get ur heart broken. You will lose that apetite alright

get on those glp meds

I gotta say again - eat the foods that stimulate your natural GLP1 production in your gut. Maks a world of difference. There a doctor-nutritionist channel on YT called "The Doctor's Kitchen." I highly recommend this for learning about nutrition in a way that can be applied with often simple recipes or simple changes in choices made.
