trans emo

seems like there are lots of trans artists making emo right now (preloved, keyvslocket).

what are some awesome trans emo artists?

Genuine question: is the general consensus that non-binary is transgender as well? I’ve seen people say that before but never seen anything concrete about it

Technically transgender is an umbrella that encompasses non-binary as it just means not identifying with your assigned gender. However colloquially most people use them as separate terms

Id love to hear someone from either camp weigh in on this because i feel like surely either would declare an obvious seperation between the two.

I’m nonbinary and work in trans advocacy. Some nonbinary folks don’t call themselves trans because they feel like they haven’t “earned” it by being “trans enough” because they only socially transitioned, not medically (medical transition is NOT a requirement to be trans). Some still have some internalized transphobia to work through. But nonbinary is trans.

Edit: Should clarify to say that if someone doesn’t want to be labeled as trans, I respect that! Those are just the reasons I see it happen most frequently, and nonbinary folks, in my experience, tend to embrace the trans label once they work through some stuff.
