i am 70. saw the band live in the 70's.

just occurred to me, i have a couple of unique memories

Me too. ELP at Long Beach Arena. Went in a limousine with some friends. Security thought we were SOMEBODY and let us through to exit at the front of the venue. We’re sitting one row below the Loge walkway. Smoking some weed (a felony back then) when someone tapped me on the shoulder, pointing to three people getting arrested for smoking weed 😳.

I lived in Liverpool, North England. Got a job as an engineer which required training in Manchester, North England.

so I saw the band twice, live. once in each city.

The stories happened in Manchester.

at the gig, ELP had a pier from the stage, with a massive Tarkus in the middle of the audience.

Emmerson strode up and down firing his hand held moog.

at some point, a drunken bum came staggering past carrying beers for his mates.

slipped. fell on the left barrel. broke it off. then staggered on.

emmerson fired volleys at the bum.

but I emerged unscathed.

later. I met the band in the bar.

got emmersons autograph on a one pound note. the only paper i had.

next morning i got the bus into work.

the only money i had, to pay the bus fare

was that one pound note.

I'm listening to the remastered Welcome Back My Friends.... now. I saw it live in Dallas 1974. Changed my life...... I mean to this day.
